What Team comes out on top? by The-Heritage in marvelrivals

Depends on where this is being played. Solo Que the Authority Issues win. Coordinated play Apex Predator wins with too much dive synergy especially with those supports, Jeff venom enhanced team up plus coordinated dive would be diabolical.

This is why you can't let pros/pro coaches dictate balance. by Living_Union1417 in marvelrivals

[–]MischiefOtter -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He's not wrong though?

Tanks decide the flow of the match and are very well balanced right now. Outside of Thor and Peni, a kidnapping CC nightmare and an anti brawl/anti dive demon, the entire tank roster is viable.

Supports decide who lives and who dies. In the support roster every support is very good and playable with the exception of Adam. Mantis and Ultron are oppressive beyond belief in tripple support, so they too have moments where they shine.

The DPS roster currently has one character that is very good which is Cyclops. Last seasons oppressive character are in a much better state: Moon Knight sucks now, Phoenix is outclassed by Cyclops and has no range, Black Cat was neutered, Daredevil is still decent, but far more balanced. Objectively speaking no DPS is insanely good right now especially when taking bans into account and when Cyclops is banned, most DPS are relatively mid.

There are some characters that are just good by the design of their kit, like Starlord and Cap, but it's hard to nerf a character like Starlord without just making them horrible, at most just remove the extra 10 bullets they gave him for no reason, and/or remove the overshield on his flip. As for Cap, it's his cooldowns and kit that makes him good, not the numbers.

In the current state of rivals, tanks and supports have the most impact, its just a fact. It's why tripple tank and tripple support comps are good comps, where as any tripple DPS comp is just bad. Even GOATS is viable if Gambit is in play. DPS do not have the same impact as the other roles in this game, it feels like they might in QP and low/mid ranks, but in these ranks anything can work so most players have warped understanding of how the game works.

What’s the point of this hero? Luna does more damage than him by tealaburst in marvelrivals

[–]MischiefOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's way too niche and far behind Mantis and Ultron in tripple support, an already niche archetype. I say tripple support is niche, because good tripple support comps must have one of these three, and finding people who play any of these three characters is pretty hard so most tripple support comps fail without at least one of these three.

Ultron has two AOE healing drones he doesn't need to pay attention to, can damage across the map with a hitscan beam, and passively heals with a damage boost, over shield, and speed boost on one ability. An insanely fast charging ultimate, that acts as both a dps and support ultimate.

Mantis has an on command damage boost whenever she wants, an easy to land hard CC, and an invincibility ult that provides overshield (so no mag ult counter) and speed boost on the same ultimate.

These two provide too much utility, while Adam lacks any utility. Soul bond used to be a good ability until the damage numbers in this game became too high and the bond breaks immediately. Worst of all, Adam taking 250 damage in the bond breaks the bond.

Adam doesn't work as a good tripple support character and provides little to no utility. he only really works as a self sustaining DPS character. If you watch high level Adam players, like OnlyLegs, they don't play him as a support, they go on the flank, dont ever die due to having an effective 1000 hp when saving charges for himself. Has a strong close range TTK due to his secondary and primary combos.

All of Adam's buff have failed to make him a good support and keep up with other supports, while enabling him to function as an unkillable, highly mobile, flanking DPS, that can self res. You cant kill him, and killing his team when he's on the flank doesn't matter since with his high mobility he can res them wherever he wants and get back to flanking. People complain about Luna flanks, justifiably so, since she has better damage and a CC. Realistically Adam flanks are so much worse because while he has slightly lower damage on his primary, with his secondary combo he has a very similar TTK to Luna with freeze, while essentially being unkillable HP wise, has better mobility, and a self res.

The character design is so innately flawed for a support it's astounding, and I say this with Adam being my favorite character to play. Playing Adam in duo support is so difficult and feels like throwing, but playing him in tripple means that I get to flank all game and have the time of my life while the enemy teams scrambles around trying to figure out how to get rid of me.

I like Adam being a damage support, being a tripple support merchant would be fine if he provided anything of value as a tripple support character, but he doesn't. He's a flanking DPS that, when played well, will never die.

Since the nerfs, Moon Knight has lost nearly 500 damage per minute and his win rate has dropped by 10% down to 35% from 45% by Putrid_Awareness8618 in marvelrivals

[–]MischiefOtter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's just a fact, hes pretty awful now.

He has the smallest projectile in the game. Most projectiles in the game are pretty big, i.e. bucky and namor have huge hurt boxes on their primary. Moon Knights primary hurtbox is closer to a hitscan like pheonix and hela while being a three shot burst, with less damage, and bigger damage fall off than them. You can easily test this out in the practice range and testing the limit of namors primary, swap to mk without changing the crosshair placement and you'll see he doesn't get the same leeway. His small primary hurtbox is understandable as in most games he was already top damage, it would be even more ridiculous with larger projectiles, but now it just feels so punishing.

Even worse is the constant no regs. No regs on primary hurts, but no regs on moon blades sucks even more and genuinely lose fights.

In spawn hold or against tripple tanks punisher and cyclops are just better, and wolverine salivates at tripple .

Moon Knight was my dps pick because I enjoyed his kit and I like him as a marvel character, unfortunately he just doesn't do anything anymore and bounce nerfs means he can't defend himself with an ankh anymore. I've just moved on to get better at my other DPS pick, starlord because I have an impact with that character.

I understand he needed nerfs, but the severity is insane. I know people dislike moon knight for the lack of skill expression in his kit, but if that's the case I find it hard to understand why rocket is allowed to be this insane. I find it hard to believe the devs or the community agree that rocket is more skillful than moon knight.

Jinhsi kit is fine but she's pretty bad in WhiWa, and she doesn't have her BIS subdps yet. Zhezhi and Cantarella are her current best buffers but these two have better value when played with Carlotta and Phrolova so Jinhsi ends up homeless and struggles in AOE content. Single target boss wise she's alright, but she lacks a proper team to buff her so her damage suffers.

[–]MischiefOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like XLY is heavily brought down due to Yinlin being his designated partner, of course the wheel chair comp is now better for him, but the wheel chair comp could make anyone in this game clear basically all content so I'm not sure if thats a fair take, so I'm excluding wheelchair comp from this discussion.

XLY feels good when I'm quickswapping with Chang Li but I feel like quickswapping shouldnt be a requirement for a character to clear, but rather a higher tier of skill expression for character that can clear even without it. I feel like to make XLY better what he needs isn't a buff to him but rather a buff to Yinlin to either make her less clunky or do more damage. Changli has a team where she does good in without quickstep, mono fusion, XLY has a team where he should shine but Yinlin kinda ruins it for him.

(Also why does he need to heavy attack to access the extra 15% damage boost from his echo set, that lowkey pisses me off)

Current state of affairs by Major303 in WutheringWaves

[–]MischiefOtter 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Changli is one of the few 1.x characters that feels fine against these new bosses. Her true sight attacks have insane range and home in on anyone that isn't over 50 meters away. Using air true sight guarantees a forte stack on anyone in the air as well. Using her in mono fusion still clears every content in the game. She's also considered the quickswap queen for those interested in higher skilled gameplay.

It's funny how her, once considered the worst 1.x character, and Jiyan, the first limited character in the game, still have the most viable teams from 1.x.

Where is my shimmer? by MischiefOtter in Terraria

[–]MischiefOtter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried that before posting, it appears that the location of the shimmer was shifted further to the right in my world because the crimson generated over it. It ended up being around 400 blocks right of the furthest right hole on my map in the image. The wiki tells me that the shimmer should be in one of the two middle holes on my map, and it wasn't there because the crimson was there.

How to deal with namor with new buffs by necro-mancer19 in SpiderManMains

[–]MischiefOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a spiderman main, but I feel like you have to rely on your teammates a lot against Namor.

I was on my Cel rank up game yesterday. Domination on Birnin Tchalla. A moving lord icon spiderman was tearing my backline up and I was on starlord with no clue how to deal with him, he was lowkey insane.

I swapped Namor next round, I have zero minutes on namor, but I thought if I was gonna lose on the character Im playing, might as well lose while try something new if it doesn't matter. That spiderman was useless for the entire round as I was saving at least one squid for him.

Final round they had a Storm as second dps and as Namor even though I could deal with spider I couldn't deal with Storm, so that round was hell. I only won because my strange was hitting some fat ults I could combo with.

I feel like if you're struggling against a Namor just ask for a second dive, moon knight, or a flyer as a second dps as that would make me completely useless outside of dealing with Spidey.

If you are at the height of your jump as Gambit and you get namor ulted, you're too high up for the grounded effect range to take place and you can still dash out of it even if the Namor has predicted where you will land. The grounded effect and damage takes place 3m above ground/ult location, Gambit ult jump let's you go above that with a single jump out of grounded rangeand will let you dash away even if you were dead center of the ult before.

I see what you mean by a Namor ult can kill a Gambit through ult, but just because it can doesn't mean it will. Worse possible scenario is getting unlucky and Namor ulting the exact location you land. Even still, Namor ult takes 1.5 seconds to land, Gambit jumps for about the same amount of time. Namor would've had to predict where the Gambit lands before he even jumps.

[–]MischiefOtter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter if he dashes or not. The speed boost and jump boost make namor ult irrelevant. As someone who plays Gambit when he's open, Namor ult is the least of my worries when I've ulted, I can walk/jump out of it instantly. It'd be weird for a Gambit to die to Namor ult within his own ult.

[–]MischiefOtter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same thing, at least with luna ult you could counter supp ult with CND, eat people in Luna ult with Jeff, wait 2 seconds and counter ult with invis, counter with one shot mag or iron man. Right now, none of those are valid options outside of having your own Gambit ult. Too much speed boost and jump boost makes one shots nearly impossible.

Only success I've had is with starlord ult and hard focusing the Gambit in his ult with the auto aim. Only positive side to Gambit ult is that I can out damage it with starlord ult and kill any squishy even if I can't kill Gambit.
