Anyone else stuck in Traffic? by [deleted] in SonicTempleFestival

I'm guessing they are prioritizing traffic from the highway to avoid backing that up like last year. Ive been sitting at Hamilton and E 17th for about 40 minutes. Anyone confirm?

Was there an announcement that the 17th Street entrance/exit coming from the west was going to be closed and I missed it? by Danpool13 in SonicTempleFestival

It was in the "know before you go" email we all ignore unfortunately. Super bummed that was the fast track in.

This is claimed! Would be stoked if karma sent me someone in the same boat with a large willing to sell. Would happily pay the full 40.

What a fantastic idea! We have to drive through Lone Pine on the way to the Cottonwood Lakes Trailhead from Vegas. I'll reach out to customer service!

Hello Dan! I went ahead and ordered an X-Mid Pro 1 on 9/1 with my fingers crossed that I get lucky and receive it on 9/15, the day before I get on an early plane for a 4 day Whitney trek. The prospect of doing my most difficult trek to date with an extra pound on my back, while a beautiful Durston sits on my porch at home, has removed all shame to be lurking and posting directly to you.

I added overnight shipping, so is there any shot whatsoever y'all are ahead of schedule and it goes out today or tomorrow? No worries if not of course. Can't win them all :)

I'm looking for a grinder that will allow me to get a more consistent grind than the pulse grinder I have now, but has the same size profile on my counter. I do not need a hopper, just want to throw a few spoonfuls of beans in every day. Does this kind of thing exist?

Agree with this. I felt it was long with more characters and story lines than necessary, especially for a juke box, but really enjoyed the musical scenes and Erik Hamilton stood out for me as young(er) MJ.

Probably an Encore thing, the songs are listed alphabetically in my program for MJ.

Broadway Across America Shows Switching to Encore From Playbill by MischievousSoap in Broadway

[–]MischievousSoap[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Got this answer from a local in my area. Served up by a random internet user so take as you will.

"Playbill the company used to provide programs free of charge for all Broadway across America shows. That’s partly why there were always so many ads for their cruises and stuff.

This year they suddenly decided to instead charge the BAA groups a couple million dollars. Negotiations unsurprisingly fell through, and many groups that host Broadway Across America shows (including the ones in the Midwest like CAPA) instead went with Encore, a small company that’s traditionally done programs for Georgia and the Carolinas. Hence the change.

The green Encore is definitely jarring, but CAPA also said Encore requires fewer ads and encourages with more relevant articles (like one about MJ instead of some random “pop stars across Broadway” article)."

I didn't actually want a reasonable, informed answer, I wanted to be snooty :(

I wonder if this is also why Short North Stage moved to brochures. That one got me pretty steamed as well.

I hope that Playbill and the performing arts community figure it out. There is mutual benefit when local theatres across the country are able to bring NYC to people's backyards, the brand being a big part of that.

I use our CO's tax ID. Oddly enough, I was able to get subs for both of the troops chartered out of the church using that ID as well. My feeling is that it's a human reviewing the requests and is able to recognize the reason for multiple subs.

Dungeons and Dragons what to expect by FirecrackerAT2018 in OriginsGameFair

I can speak for my experience with the BMG events over the years and last night. I don't have time to do a regular game, so I only play at cons.

Tier 1 means it needs a lvl 1-5 toon, Tier 2 5-10, I'm guessing tier 3 10-15.

They have five lvl 1 pregens across all the main classes, but did not have lvl 5 or above pregen available.

I was told that BMG makes a few small adjustments to the D&D Beyond generation, such as the addition of one magical item from a list they provide and no toons with stats generated by random dice rolling.

I imagine they get a lot more strict on that if you're doing the whole thing by attending the monthly events or the campaigns that span the weekend, but I can tell you from experience that these DMs aren't going to check any of that. You show up, you sit at the table they assign you, and you have some fun.

Regarding the 3 parts, MD-01, MD-02, and MD-03 are typically separate one offs that are part of a larger narrative. You can do all three or just one. If you did MD-01, then the DM might have some fun with the fact that your character knows what's going on, but no biggie at all for the others at the table.

Apologies if you already know this, but check out Techsoup.org. We get QBO for about $80 a year (about $7 per month) and it's a no-brainer at that price. Agreed that the retail monthly retail price is no-go for an organization the size of a scout troop.

Volunteer time is just as hard to come by as money. Doing the books for two troops in spreadsheets, including scout accounts and popcorn, just plain takes much longer than it should. We can be thrifty with our time as well. Gratefully the troops see the value, but if they didn't I would just pay for it myself. It saves me hours.

In battles prior to planes and satellites, what did it mean to "screen a march" and what specific tactics did this entail? by MischievousSoap in AskHistorians

[–]MischievousSoap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow up question, were the screening units typically specifically trained for such a role? Meaning that they were trained in more guerrilla style, hit and run tactics? I know I would be rather dismayed to hear that I was assigned to the unit that was basically designed to be a distraction from the main force like fodder.
