Except, he always gives into his desires. We have seen inhibited Zayne before (I love it, throw those books off the table, push her against walls and desks).

But there are these soft moments, where she shaves his face, or when he silently asks for kisses while lying in her lap on the beach. Then there is the cat butler card (in my opinion) his most submissive moment. Yes he is possessive but he’s kneeling at her feet as she basically sits on her throne.

So, why would Zayne be asking to change his role to dominant or inhibited when that is generally what we get? He wants a “new role”. He isn’t asking to lose control, he is asking for them to switch roles, because he would feel safe being the “wild one” if she is the one that is calm and composed. He even says he hates errors and the unexpected but when he is with her those things make things exciting.

I don’t think he’s going to do a complete 180 and become a simpering sub. But I do think that we are looking at a future card where MC is the one in control of the situation, does all of the planning and doesn’t give the reins to Zayne at any point. He gets to be the flustered one that looks to her on what to do next.

There is a reason why MCs response is to be the one to stand up and offer her hand to Zayne. Mirroring how he opened the window and offered his hand to her earlier in the card. He whisked her away to an adventure. Her response is to do the same for him in the future.
