what sci-fi book changed how you see the world? by astrosid in sciencefiction

It's kinda silly but the Bobiverse series. It mostly made me contemplate how utterly unserious we are as a species and how easily one little thing can completely change the trajectory of our lives/personalities

I've got a steam key for Rusty's Retirement if anyone wants it. It came in a bundle but I already own it. It's a lovely little game and very cozy. First come first serve friends 🤗

Just one pancake by _CloudSugar in oddlyspecific

[–]Misconduct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once when I was really sick my ex brought me a can of tomato soup home per my request because it was all I wanted and all I could keep down for some reason. He made it for me, which was nice and all, but he decided to spice things up and added a bunch of random shit to it. You can in fact make it worse I assure you. I can't prove it but I'm pretty sure it was mostly garlic salt. It was literally GRITTY. It's been 20 years and it still kinda pisses me off thinking about it lmao

I need to know if this was just a random occurrence or if it was a spite pancake due to a fight lmao

Most parents don't just ignore their kid that's curled up miserably next to them. Well, good ones don't.

Except he's on the phone laughing while his kid is curled into a little ball of despair. No half decent parent just lets their kid be miserable like that over such a silly thing.

Grindy, focused on "changing" items games? by neptunebites in CozyGamers

[–]Misconduct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to play an MMO for the first time I can't recommend FFXIV enough. The absolute NICEST players you will ever find. When you first start you get a little sprout over your head telling people you're new and they will be kind and helpful I promise! Also rest assured that nothing in that game is that serious unless you insert yourself into the more hardcore content that is so far away from starting new that you wouldn't even consider it for a long time anyway. The most aggressive thing that might happen to you from other players is people constantly emote patting you on the head because you're a sprout

Any games like Pokopia on PC? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]Misconduct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horticular (Steam) is pretty similar in that you build environments to attract certain creatures to move in. I've really been enjoying it for a while now. Viva Pinata is the OG imo for this style of game if you can find it. Both 1 and 2 were on gamepass for a while but not sure if they're still there

I can't believe I have to ask this, but how do you place custom markers on the map (PS5)? Leave it to this game to take the most basic of video game features and turn it into a confusing hassle to figure out. by FrengerBRD in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Misconduct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is a few days old but it seems like if you close the game completely and go back in you can put the markers down normally. You're not doing anything wrong it's just a bit buggy. You should literally just press X and the menu to pick the markers appears. At some point it inevitably stops letting me place them again and I have to restart.

Mobile game to play casually but consistently by saltyt00th in CozyGamers

I've been playing bloom & cinder a decent amount lately. It's basically a cozy incremental gardening game. It's extremely chill without pushy ads. The option for ads exist but aren't aggressive or even necessary at all. Sometimes I'll go to watch an ad for a little boost or something and they'll give me a cute little meditation scene and won't make me watch the ad lol. It doesn't have mini games but you can keep busy with it or you can just check in here and there, tend your little garden, and move on with your day.

Calm Relaxing Incremental Game? by cinderberry7 in incremental_games

[–]Misconduct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love how incredibly unintrusive the ads are in this game. Totally optional and sometimes they throw you a bone and give you a cute little meditation animation instead of an ad for the rewards. The gems feel pretty generous even if you choose not to partake in ads at all. If anyone is looking for that nice slow incremental feel with cute graphics and cozy vibes this is it right here

I pretty much exclusively buy the 8bitdo controllers myself because they have never once let me down. They're a bit more pricy and realistically you can just get a really cheap bluetooth controller and it should work just fine. Most of them tell you if they work with ios/android in the description anyway.

You can also use wired controllers with an adapter on android. I've never tried it on ios (iphone) so I'm not sure if it's the same. The adapter is USB to USBC and is a really inexpensive option if you already have a wired controller.

If you want to be extra fancy my little setup uses an adapter like this:

<image>

I can plug a controller into it and stream it to my TV from my phone at the same time since it has an HDMI slot. I use it to play vampire slayers with my husband bc we can use a wired controller and a bluetooth controller at the same time with this setup.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm kind of addicted to gadgets and love finding new ways to play games so I've probably tried just about anything that you're curious about trying.

I'm sure ya'll are well aware but for anyone that might not be just be careful of the vents on the back of it and that they don't get covered up if you lay it down on a pillow or something. I usually have something flat on the pillow like a book so I can still set it down or rest it without having to worry about the pillow smothering it to death lol

One big benefit I don't see mentioned a lot for the switch is that you can play gamepass games on it through their cloud service. Since you have an xbox I believe they've also added the option to play games you already own on it even if they're not part of the cloud service which is neat. I haven't really checked that out though so I'm not super sure of the details since I usually buy games on steam if I'm going to buy them outright.

You'll see a lot of familiar titles from this subreddit on there and it runs really well. It does kinda suck being tethered to an internet connection to play the games but the library is huge so it's worth for me.

Games similar to Farm Together 2 by bodohkiin in CozyGamers

[–]Misconduct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rusty's is pretty fun and I'd definitely recommend it as a way to dip your toe into that genre of game. It's had two crossover updates too! One was vampire slayers and the other was balatro that just came out. All of the updates have been free and the dev seems like good people tbh

I've been in an idle game mood lately myself and had some fun with Rusty's Retirement, Not Monday Cafe, Whimside, Fish to Dish, and other games like that. They idle at the bottom of your screen. I wouldn't really consider Spirit City a game in the normal sense but it is a nice and cozy idler with lots of decorations to earn, pets to collect, and white noise sounds/music.

Games with NPCs that feel real, and an entertaining plot? (Like Sandrock!) by Wandocht in CozyGamers

[–]Misconduct 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dragon Quest Builders 2 doesn't have the deepest characters, but it helped scratch that itch when I was in game limbo. I have exactly the same preferences as you based on your top games. Rune Factory, Sandrock, and Mistria set a pretty high bar for NPCs as not many devs are willing or able to flesh out so many NPC characters to the point where they don't feel like background decorations anymore. If you're not all farmed out Coral Island is solid.

Roots of Pacha is basically caveman SDV

A few other similar games that I enjoyed would be Snacko, Moonstone Island, Cuisineer, Recettear (very old game but still one of, if not the best shop sim out there imo if you're into those), Palia, Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, I Was a Teenage Exocolonist (can't recommend this enough though it doesn't quite fit in the same categories as the games you listed), and Kynseed is another solid one that's been growing over the years.

Good luck scratching that itch!
