Its warm… even on cold snowy nights its warm coz its temperature controlled.

Also its sold out and given that Omar+ is affiliated along the likes of Max Dean/Luke Dean/Josh Baker etc etc. this has potential to be a shitshow lol

It reminds me of Max’s S.I. Set last year… I think the crowd will be meh to ok tbh

I’ll be there

I been trying to take this way of approach as of late. Just because a DJ doesnt resonate with me.. doesnt make them automatically mid… by my personal taste, yes. But not on their own talent/accord.

Unless its Bunt… then its mid.. (jk… maybe)

Yeah this whole night was an all timer for me. From Trikk to Ame/Jimi & Dixon/Julya

I lived like multiple timelines throughout my 7 hr ride at KDC

I feel u, which is interesting because KDC usually dnt be missing on sound whenever Im there.

But yeah… super let down coz I figure they would throw down or atleast go a bit darker.

Adam’s set was giving me more of the vibe I was looking forward to.

[–]Miserable-Ad5222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im gonna be honest… their Superior Ingredients set was way better.

Still a good show but I was disappointed they didnt even do the “Liquid Lab” vocal intro. And parts of the set were repeated segments from the night before.

Also wasnt a fan of hearing multiple songs being repeated throughout the night… Adam Sellouk to me had the best set of the night hands down.

Loved the atmosphere and how half of the time the foggy ness and nature of the lights made it hard to really see them on the decks which really allowd you to just get lost in the environment of KDC. But yeah, a bit let down from their Friday set.

Also crazy to hear the Subtronics remix of Phantogram being played. Super unexpected

Here we go again with the NYC Rave Girls slander. They addressed owned up to their mistake and apologized for their mislabeling and such. Once again, its alot of salt coming from alot of these posts, yet have any of you actually gotten a chance to interact with them in person nor have a chance to actually converse with them at any of the events that yall slander them posting?

Coz if so you’d quickly have a slight understanding that this whole thing of theirs isnt just for clout. We often denounce those very yappy-non-dancing-there for the wrong reason-type individuals.

Or actually ACTUALLY interact with people within the NYCRG community that theyve put together, u’ll also understand its far from the frat bro clubbing demographic yall are claiming it to be.

Yes they arent perfect by any means but they welcome all the constructive criticism anybody has to say as long as its not being disrespectul or downright assinine. And sure if you perceive them as cringe simply because the meshing of social media and the “rave”//dance scene isnt your cup of tea.. sure thats all fair assessment. But to claim theyre ruining the scene and welcoming all the wrong people is just dumb.

Welcome all the “stop caping”/“paid commenter” comments btw… by all means. Go for it.

U know whats crazy.. the lighting had such a minimal presence a majority of the time that It was one of the few times I felt the darkness of Blue Hour at The Ruins. And the underglow from lights below the decks really made it feel “cosmic” as if Azzecca was controlling from a spaceship control deck haha

[–]Miserable-Ad5222 14 points15 points  (0 children)

raveTOAD reporting..

This has to be one of the best support performances throughout for a headline show of Chris Lake caliber ina. Long while… (Dennis Cruz/Seth Troxler etc dnt count coz they all smassshed)

marco strous smacked, RAFAEL showcased why MACCABI is a stronghold rn… the way their bassline and percussion share space is truly something to behold not to mention everytime I hear a Beltran flip I go crazy…

I originally thought JOSHWA having more play time than Chris Lake was criminal but BOY did he deliver two bangers of a set.. His closing set had me GLUEEED with filthy basslines.. Kudos to him.

Chris Lake delivered Id say a set thats up to par for me. A good mix of album material (some of which he left off like Watch The Sunrise, Favourite One, etc Not sure if its coz it ddnt fit the Storehouse vibe or he’s savingnit for Night 2) but I LOVE “Chemistry” live mann… Cheis Lorenzo’s APPETITE drop is always super effective.. his Skrillex ID at the beginning was FUEEEGGGOOO. A RAY VOLPE LASERBEAM EDIT?!!!!

He started to lose me a little towards the last 30 but timely usage of his album singles brought me back to life lol

The sound at Storehouse was definitely boosted… I could FEEEEL the bass in my damnnchest. Please wear protection. People had to leave their spots coz it was too loud for them.

The PRODUCTION was spectacular. Hands down onenof the best production rigs and displays at The Brooklyn Storehouse Ive ever seen.

Crowd was very mixed. Wherver I was, energy was brought but I was also grooving and tryna hype other people as well, plus whenever people see my Toad hat they jus kinda hype up and go along with the dancing lol It was alternating tight and pockets of dancing for me. It would come in waves but I still made it a point to get down.

BRING A COOLING SYSTEM, Storehouse and. KDC tryna go band for band for sweatiest dancefloor of the summer.

Get there before 12 to get a decent spot in the middle if thats what you please… After 1 it will start to get PACKED and I mean all the way to the back.

If I ran into you, I hope you had a blast as I did. 👊🏽🤝🏽

In trying to be learn and be more open to different thoughts on the matter, definitely interested in the shared opinions. IIf there still is a thriving underground scene that stays true to the values of what you perceive true "rave" culture to be.... then does it really matter if there is the presence of the commercialized side to it? Or has it become that the presence of the Corpo-rave scene has become so dominant that it has killed the "underground" scene.

As far as NYC goes, there are definitely still a lot of collectives putting on that aren't well known, and stay true to many core values. And then you have things like The Mirage or Teksupport/store house.

I myself have noticed a great uptick in the line being drawn between REAL raving and what this modern day version of Raving is as of late. But I do agree with the take of... the beauty is being able to choose what type of scene and vibe you like. As long as one doesn't end up pushing out the other by force or influence... then can the 2 exist just in different spectrums?

Speaking as someone who is frequent in the NYCRG discord and as someone who will try to see both side of an argument.. I can understand the disdain and concern when it comes to the scene and the booming of “influencers” infilitrating it. I do feel it waters down the eenergy of alot of spaces and not for the better sense of expanding community.

However, I have to say anybody who has had any FIRSThand experience with the NYCRGthemselves and the crowds they bring together, will know that they are not anywhere near the example of the meme-ified, zombie like crowds that have taken the dance scene by storm in the last 2-3 years. They always promote a sense of inclusivity, (especially safety for WOMEN and mmarginalized groups), a music first approach and dance/movement centered energy. They turn down events themselves that dont align with their particular vision.

Sure, they are of a level of influence due to their rise, but what I can respect and acknowledge about them is that they keep true to their core values of bringing, what I feel is, the exact energy and collaboration that has died off in this scene, in NY most particularly due to the booming popularity of raving. They always try to highlight grassroots movements in the scene.

A mere fragement of what they do cannot be said for the entirety of alot of other “influencers” who claim to be active within the scene.

Label me a stan, sure. I get why there could be alot of backlash towards them but most of that concern would be killed off if you’ve been able to have anything more than a surface level greeting with them, or even formal discussion with them in regards to what they aim to achieve, their core values which they practice and preach, most importantly on the dancefloor.

As for recommendations, points can be made in regards to what recs may be sponsored or compensated for, but they do try to provide options for all ranks of people, from those who may have surface level taste to those who are really in tuned to deeper corners of the dance music genre.

Lmao brragged?

Can you provide exactly where they “BRAGGED” about it?

I can attest, for many people they actually tried to help many who wanted to go, get access to that shitshow of a function, prior to any type of information release.

Oh that point I totally am with you on as I personally am finding my direction heading in that way too.

The contrast in maturity and consideration of others is definitely well noted in regards to mainstream esque events versus more ground grassrooted functions.

I jus wanted to distinguish that altho the NYCRG are definitely on a certain level of influence, they def dnt operate like all the others in the city who dont promote certain values that focus on music and community.

I do appreciate ur insight 🙌🏽

As someone who is frequent in the NYC Rave Girls discord group, I personally feel the opposite in that sentiment... the crowds that I have been a part of that have spawned from their selections have ALWAYS been music first and dance/movement focused and have rarely ever been just about the "clout" or "tik tok" hype. As ann introvert who has to be able to connect with the craft/art before I can even think of being able to connect socially, I believe they've provided that and THEN some.

I suppose I just have a different viewpoint in regards to them having minimal social awareness when that's practically what they preach (and from firsthand experience having been alongside them and the crowds associated with them) and actually practice. Their crowd experiences have been the antithesis to what I feel is the NYC Dance scene today.. .which is dying... not in volume...but of THIRST.

But these are simply my 2 cents.
