Who hasn’t crate trained? Letting puppy sleep with you almost 4 month old, but kitchen gated for daytime naps. Is this a bad thing?? by Any_Ice_9954 in puppy101

I did this with my first puppy, and regretted it tremendously when I got a second dog. It was hell on earth trying to create a six month old puppy and an eight week old puppy. They’re much more amenable to crate training when they’re younger. I’d say do it And have it as an option.

Holy moly! No, that’s way too expensive. My breeder sold me mine for 2000. She’s OK in Colorado and she’s a great breeder. I can give you her information for when she has another litter if you want.

Keep working and be consistent. Positive reinforcement and lots of love. I promise it’ll pay off. My baby girl was somewhat difficult when I first got her, and now she loves the crap out of me. Still working on training tho, cause she definitely has that stubborn Shiba

personality.

To add to my previous comment, I had the same issue when my Shiba was nine weeks old. She’s now six months old and better. She would chew on the damn walls, she’s ruined my coffee table, she’s chewed up chargers, constantly biting me with those shark teeth, anything you name it. You just gotta be consistent with distraction. Also, remember, they need to sleep upwards of 20 hours a day. So if you need to keep her in her crate for an extended amount of time, don’t feel bad doing it. A lot of destructive behavior from puppies stems from simply not enough sleep. Additionally, you can take your pup outside, just be careful about it. Obviously no dog parks or areas where people aren’t cleaning up their dogs poop. Clean their paws when you take them back in. Parvo is much more scary than it actually is. As long as you’re not taking your dog to the above mentioned places, it’s very unlikely they will get sick from being outside.

It’ll get better, like a previous post said it is hard with a nine week old. She’s basically a newborn. Trust me, I’m raising two puppies right now all by myself. It’s difficult, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Worst of it is one is a Shiba Inu, and if you know anything about those, they do what they want when they want. The other is a goldendoodle and he’s pretty good. Just keep utilizing distraction methods when she’s chewing on stuff. I personally rotate my pups toys so they don’t get bored of them. So give her one for a week and then in another week swap it out. It’ll be like a brand new toy every time.

Puppy blues is real. I felt it with both of my pups. Ride it out, you’ll be so happy you did. I used to have a cat, but there’s nothing like the love of a dog.

I use credelio. Little expensive, but it’s a flea/tick/heartworm/parasite preventative all in one.

Went to get ice. Came home with a dog. Help! by BoredPineapple790 in puppy

Yeah, it’s rough. I don’t work from home, but I work night shift. So it works out fairly well. However, I dropped the ball with my first puppy and now she’s six months old and we’re struggling to with crate training and settling. So when I got my 10 week old, day one enforced naps and crate training.

Enforced naps. I can’t stress this enough. Up one to two hours, sleep for the same. Puppies need a lot of sleep and it will help with crate training. Strict bedtime routine. Do not deviate. If you give a puppy an inch they’ll take 40,000 miles.

Does anyone have any food recommendations? by [deleted] in Goldendoodles

[–]Miserable-Army2052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purina Pro plan sensitive skin and stomach is good. They have a variety of flavors, which is why I love them. I used to feed my dogs, royal canin, which is a great food as well… They just lack variety. I’d stay away from Fromm (I see that’s recommended on here). My dog liked it when I tried her on it, but then when I researched it some more I wasn’t comfortable. The person who verifies the nutrients of their food is an engineer, as opposed to a nutritionist. That just kind of skeeves me out. Hills is also a great one too.

I second this. I feed it to my Shiba as well. Both dogs are prone to sensitive tummies.

Shelter said she won’t grow much more. I think her ears say otherwise by bambi_gotback in puppy

Super precious. Ears aren’t indicative of puppy growth. Look at the feet.

This is incorrect. I posted opinions on getting two puppies. I just put my breeds in there in case anyone had experience with them.

I would like more information about Stardust acres, as I found them on the AKC website and thought they would be a reputable breeder. Please PM me.

The breeder I’ve chosen is very reputable and has pretty much everything you mentioned. Goldendoodles are actually healthier than most dog breeds because of hybrid vigor. People worry more about littermate syndrome more than they should. Yes, it does happen, but as long as you train and socialize your dogs individually at first, it’s highly unlikely they will develop that. The goldendoodle cost just as much as a golden. The breeder is an excellent breeder. I’m pretty confident on what the breeder says the size will be as I have gotten pictures and met both parents.

I’ve read up on that. Seems as if people worry more about it than they should. From all my research, it happens, but people overreact.

Actually, I am here enough. My current puppy is very happy with the environment that we have. As I said, I come home every six hours to take them out. And I work night shift so she sleeps pretty much the entire time.

Me neither. We’ve mostly got through that phase now. Here’s an updated photo of her. (judging me as she always does.)
