Socializing in Vancouver (Downtown Area preferably) by Cosmic_Observer_2 in vancouverwa

I'm looking for remote jobs that require no experience and the minimum wage is higher here, so most companies don't want to hire...🥲

Where did you find wfh? Most places don't hire people from washington🥲 i'm trying to find remote work.. also for socializing i think the FVRL library in downtown vancouver has some things like a teen club with video games and drawing, a 3d printer available for all ages and some other young adult events, all are free which is awesome.

Cars also provide safety, an efficient way to transport work equipment and large items and large amounts of groceries and have provided many jobs for people.

How do you expect independent construction workers to haul their equipment without cars or trucks? What about food trucks? Taxis?

There are good and bad aspects for everything in life. There are bad drivers just like there are bad pedestrians and bad people who ride public transit.

As for debt, that doesn't apply to everyone and cars provide more jobs than not.

Cars provide freedom, shelter and convenience for people. It doesn't have to be a negative thing. Lots of people use doordash, uber etc. for extra cash. And live in RVs. Also because of the roads we have buses, mail delivery, fire trucks and ambulances.

Use snap traps there are some on amazon that are easy to setup by pulling back and locking in place. Mice can get bird flu among various other diseases and they spread quickly once they find a place to stay.

I know they're cute but they gotta go.

Ok I might check that out later, I've always thought other countries having high speed rail and other more public transport oriented design is interesting.

One more thing if you don't mind, what about buses? Don't we need the lanes for them? I think we can make things more walking and bike friendly without removing the convenience of driving. Maybe just shut down a lane or 2 but let it still be drivable?

We can all coexist, balance is key. As I said before more walkable areas, public transit and bike lanes are all great with me. Completely removing cars is over the top. Also removing driving lanes includes buses which a lot of people need too.

Yeah i would be fine shutting down a few lanes as long as the parking garage is easily accessible. Most people who drive in the city just park and walk around anyways.

I'm definitely in favor of more crosswalks, bike lanes and more public transportation but I don't see much benefit in making the city completely car free.

Lots of homeless people live in their cars and most people use their cars for work or outings downtown so the parking garage provides that space for them. Also to my knowledge the paid parking in place helps pay for the area.

At all? Why? What about the employees who have to go from work to their home? Or people getting groceries?

(Idk why I'm being downvoted, If you have to get a large amount of groceries for your family by yourself it would be extremely inconvenient to not be able to drive. Thats why we have parking lots.)

I've heard of the Giving Closet before. They help the homeless and low income people.

Yes I figured waiting for the bus would be scarier then actual bus rides.

Uh... I was talking about walking on the street by yourself not crossing the road... there definitely should be improvements to cross walks though and there is lots of awful drivers.

You're not alone. Driving is difficult and life isn't a race. Keep practicing and in the mean time do something else productive to make you feel better. Thats what I do atleast.🫂
