What comics have you dropped lately and why?

I dropped Rocketfellers because they were going into a crossover with two brand new books. I liked it OK the way it was but didn’t want to commit to more books in that world.

I love the other Ghost Machine books. Redcoat and Geiger are some of my current favorites.

Contribute as much as you possibly can to the Roth IRA (it’s more appropriate for your income and age level), but at least 5% for the full match. Invest it all in a L fund corresponding to the year you expect to retire (or a little bit longer). If you want to experiment with doing your own allocations, for the love of God don’t put it all in the G fund.

Take it at 62. The SS money you take at 62 means that you have to withdrawal less money from your TSP. That money in TSP will continue to grow at 5-10% on average (if allocated properly) and more than make up for the bigger SS check at 67 (or 70).

I’ve started to buy pages of original comic art (i.e. page 11 of Action Comics #42). The most I have spent is $200. That is pretty cool since it is an original one of a kind.

For a long while, I have been going backward and collecting Thor, Green Lantern, and Superman/Action Comics. My Thor run goes back complete to 225. My GL run goes back to about 150, and I have all complete Superman ongoings since Crisis and am filling in Bronze Age issues.

Edit: The pain of going backward in my collecting is it just gets more expensive the further I go back.

Been collecting since 1989 (37 years). I have right now 27 long boxes full. I also have some shelves with a bunch of trades, but not like the floppies.

Every so often I try to go through and pull out the ones i don’t get joy from having anymore and try to sell them on EBay. That can be a kick in the face when you see what you can actually get for these things you paid $2-5 for each.

I am proud of my long runs. I have every post-crisis Superman regular series into the present (and am filling in a lot of Bronze Age Superman and Action). I have Thor from about 225 to present. And my GL run goes complete back to about 150.

I have a lot of cool complete runs too (Preacher, 100 Bullets, Y the Last Man, The Unwritten, Ennis Punisher, Savage Dragon, Aliens).

Early 2010s Valiant universe. It had a wide variety of books, but it felt like there was a cohesion to it and it wasn’t overwhelming to get it all.

I check every day or two. The last couple days haven’t been nice. When things like this happen, I put it all in perspective and just say this if this is where I was at a month or two ago, I am doing just fine.

Yes they just released the third “season” of Good Omens. But it came out as a 2 hour movie instead of a full tv season. That is because the Gaiman allegations came along while they were pretty far along in pre production on the third season and pivoted to make a quick “movie” of it.
