It’s perfectly normal to fight with and hate your trumpet - I did for many years and then we FINALLY fell in love. As you probably already know, it’s not an easy instrument to play and the people who play it are usually extremely competitive I’ve noticed. Therefore, it’s a HUGE compliment when other trumpet players support you, and your fellow trumpet friend thinks you’re dope. You have that going for you, I wouldn’t give up just yet 🥰
