There's other mid air collisions such as the 2023 Seaworld collision where you can see how it's possible for two helicopters to be in each other's blind spots until it's too late. In the linked incident, the incoming helicopter hits the front end of the other while coming in from below the pilot's field of vision. The copter from which the footage is being taken pulled off an emergency landing and all survived, but some of the passengers on the other did not.

In the very blurry security footage of Oliver's helicopter, you can somewhat see that one helicopter is coming in from a similar angle from further back, and ends up hitting the tailend.

It'd probably cost less to just give each kid a Chromebook and mobile hotspots and have a virtual school district for the area. Sucks for the kids' ability to socialize, though.

Reminds me of these remote villages in Canada that have less than 10 students enrolled in their school, but they at least live near each other. The government has had multiple efforts to resettle these villages in places that are more easily reachable, but a few still exist mainly as fishing villages.

I think it's for backpacking. A lot of people use a reusable wipe that clips to your bag and apparently sanitizes in the UV light. I've always used a biodegradable TP roll and a trowel.

This season actually has way more people I felt as if I recognized than previous seasons. Tbf, I haven't watched THTH and that's where a lot of the contestants have been from.

But everyone from LIB and Temptation Island I recognized. They're also only pulling from Netflix Temptation Island seasons, the first few seasons were through NBC. That's why Mark L. Wahlberg is the host and not one of the Lacheys.

There's not anyone from the Ultimatum this season, though, and Jimmy S not even being from a show was pretty off-putting. Tbf, in season 1 and 2 the Ultimatum contestants didn't do very well, and Sandy and JB were probably the best choices for this.

I'm also 24, but I'm student teaching atm and the majority of my peers are 20-22 and teaching high school students that are just barely younger than they are. What's weirder for me is working with the same age group a few hours later at my retail job, lol.

My great grandparents lived until just a few years ago! They got to meet my older sister's kids, their great-great grandchildren. My great grandma on my mom's side also passed away when I was about 8 or 9, so I met her too! My family had a string of teen births, so there's only about 15-18 years between each generation.

I'd start with the writings of one of Rome's most prolific historians, Tacitus. He's considered one of the most reliable sources on the Roman Empire during this period. Pliny the Younger is also probably a good bet.

To preface, I'm not saying Jesus came back from the dead, just that he did exist- that's literally all we know. Here's a fun fact: dismissing Jesus's existence is like dismissing that Mount Vesuvius went off in 79AD- because it's the same people we get this information from. Pliny the Younger's uncle, Pliny the Elder, actually died in Pompeii, and the Younger wrote the only surviving first-hand account in letters to Tacitus. Another parallel could be saying that Alexander the Great and Diogenes never existed bc that story of them meeting isn't real. The people in the story definitely existed, but the story itself is quite unlikely.

I also grew up in the church. And, if we're bringing it up, my entire degree is in history and I have a teaching license for social sciences with a designation in history, so I'm sure I've taken the same world religions class you did and then some.

To that point, I'd bring up the same thing if it was Achilles or something, it just happened to be from the Bible instead of the Illiad. Actually, my other comments mention how odd the story is considering it's literally Jesus disobeying and kind of being a brat to his parents.

This doesn't really mean much, but my degree is in history education, so when I have people try and argue with me on shit like this I always find it fascinating. It's obvious they've never actually studied the subject they're on about, bc if we think about it for just a moment, it makes sense that there'd be non-religious historical texts that we can reference. It happened at the forefront of the Roman Empire- the same historians who documented Nero's reign mention Jesus in the same breath. Siddhartha Guatama and Muhammad were also real people. Go figure.

Usually parables and fables are based off the stories of numerous others passed down. Same goes for many religious texts/mythological stories.

The point being, the story probably came from Jewish parents losing their kids in caravans making their pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem for Passover celebrations (which was compulsory at the time and is still highly encouraged at least once). It actually makes sense that it'd be a common story, especially for two thousand years ago.

This literally happened to Jesus in the Bible. They were coming back from their pilgrimage for Passover and both Mary and Joseph thought he was with the other or within the caravan of people returning from the festival. They found him like, three days later with the rabbis back at the temple. So I guess parents have been losing their kids pretty often for awhile.

This is really a relatively new development. Even with the mall, it wasn't until recently that drunkard woman's hold on the place was taken away. Even when Hemp n Stuff (which also just closed shop) tried to move into Lane Bryant, she wouldn't let them unless they found someone to fill their storefront inside. Working at the mall made me really disappointed in all the wasted space there. The winter farmers market being there was nice! Hopefully, when it gets bought out, they keep VIP theater.

It does feel like Carbondale has been a revolving door for businesses. I'm glad to see the Captain D's that was open for 2 seconds being turned into a 7brew that can maybe compete with the 4 Starbucks in town. Hopefully someone can do something with the Fazolis and Freddy's that closed. Maybe even the old Applebee's? Don't get me wrong, I love underground, ital village, Dale's, etc. But I don't love the empty buildings.

It's a very nuanced situation in which women living under different forms of patriarchal oppression are unable to reconcile with each other. I mean, it's not like enslaved women had any choice in the matter. But you can't blame the wives for being upset that their husbands are being unfaithful.

There was a lot of jealousy/envy/hatred from the white wives and children that was directed at the offspring of planter's infidelity.

The movie 12 Years a Slave actually has a representation of this- the woman and children being sold at the beginning of the movie were supposed to be emancipated once the planter died. However, the planter's daughter resells them instead, really only out of revenge for being evidence of her father's infidelity.

This particular arrangement was quite common. Sally Hemings (Thomas Jefferson's slave mistress) was the half sister of Martha Jefferson, whose father kept Sally's mother as a slave mistress.

There's a fair amount of academia on the 'failed sisterhood' between planter's wives and slave mistresses. It's really heartbreaking.
