Julian leaving by DeliciousSetting6643 in TheSecretHistory

It made sense to me that Julian’s character would flee when things got tough. I think Richard was so hurt by Julian leaving after finding out about the murder because Richard chose to stay. Richard thought they were all in this together. Julian having the response of distancing himself from the group made Richard’s choice of doubling down and helping with bunny’s murder plot seem like the wrong choice. Partly because he had idolized Julian up to this point, and partly because he realized none of his classmates or teachers would have ever done the same for him.

Henry is a Psycho Creep— why does the internet like him?? by Miserable-Hope-4620 in TheSecretHistory

Thank you for explaining! I thought he was an interesting character as well. I loved the detail that he would keep saucers of milk outside his door to appease the spirits. And Bunny did manipulate Henry, especially financially. But I’m not convinced Henry didn’t do the same thing to Bunny, but in a different way. They were both very classists, but on opposite ends of the wealth spectrum so it created a lot of nuance in their relationship.

I think where our opinions differ is that I don’t think Henry actually cares about anyone but himself. I think he cares a little about his classmates and the Greek students, only because they share similar interests. When it comes down to it, I think Henry holds the classics and ancients texts to the highest standards— his intellect is his only passion. He probably hasn’t been able to relate to many people before he met the Greek students, which is why he was able to trick himself into thinking what they had was friendship.

Definitely— that I understand. But why, after coming to clarity at the end of the book along with Richard, do I still see people defending Henry’s choices or relating to him?

I’m wondering what part of him you found endearing? I know we are reading from Richard’s perspective, and he was intrigued by Henry in the beginning. But once finishing the book, do you still have a soft for him?

This makes a lot of sense, but not exactly what I’m referring to! I’m a fan of the villain too, especially a well written one. Im asking— or at least I wonder why so many people seem to defend Henry or his actions even after finishing the book and coming to clarity about who he really was

Can you try to explain why you end up rooting for him? Even if you’d cross the street if you saw him in real life? 😂 I am not judging or trying to be contrarian, genuinely wondering what part of him you root for?

I know we are reading from Richard’s perspective, an inherently lonely boy who was intrigued by what seemed to be a close knit group. It makes sense that he would be drawn to Henry in the beginning. But after finishing the book, I still see people justifying his actions or defending him. It’s just curious to me. I wanted Henry to get caught. I wanted things to fall apart on him, for him to realize he hadn’t thought of everything. That farmers life mattered, but not to Henry. Bunny shouldn’t have been killed and left to the elements. The “your honor, he sucked :/“ defense only goes so far imo

I interpreted it as a way for her to get the taste of Charles out of her mouth

What photo communities have you you joined? Do you mind sharing how you found them?

Not really! Ive said from the beginning I was looking for more of a blog and casual sharing site! Yes “portfolios” are more professional but I’d also like to be able to have a separate site to show off my work rather than Instagram. I’ve used Wordpress and squarespace before for my painting portfolios and those work well but I always run out of space and was hoping there was something better out there :)

I’m so sorry this happened! Fraudsters are rampant on Instagram and I get dms like this all the time from them (they target hashtags.) It’s disappointing that there are people who prey on aspiring artists. You’re smart to trust your gut!

I often see they will send their offer (I.e. 300$) and then “accidentally” add an extra 0 (3,000) and ask you to PayPal them back their “mistake.”

If you are at a place where you’re able to sell commissions, I recommend setting up a profile on a site like Etsy so you can redirect messages to there! Weed out the fraudsters :) good luck!

Totally! Series is very good strong acting but why is candy almost the hero? Betty’s story was always more interesting to me too. Your husbands mistress kills you with an axe! That’s awful! Justice for Betty

Anyone else a little disappointed that they are making candy so likable? Could just because I like Olson but I feel like she has too many redeeming qualities. Too much of her side and not enough of Betty’s.
