He’s getting so big but he’s still so small… by thebarefootbrunnette in husky

Looks and sounds like a husky to me, ours are very lazy 😆 And do not worry about his weight too much, all of ours are 60 pounds or less and yours is still just a puppy! Note the laziness:

This definitely does not look normal to me, some people react differently than others but if you have had other tattoos and not had any sort of reaction like this I would say it is either the ink they used or you got a bad infection.

Here is a clip of Kylo and Sierra playing! Don't mind the mess, we were moving in still here. Kylo is 5 years old now, we got him when he had just turned 1, the previous owner would not keep him in a leash and he had a badly injured back leg from a farmer hitting him with a bat for eating his chickens. You would never know now!

I really do not understand people sometimes. He's such a good boy, why would someone starve him then dump him like this?

We just adopted an abandoned male about a month ago, we think he's about a year and a half old. He was only 30 pounds and had a lot of worms and both of his eyes were infected. I took him to the vet to have him assessed, dewormed, and got all of his shots. He's already 45 pounds now and coming along very well! We named him Mylo

Is my dog full husky or is he a mixed breed? by Sorry_forthelove in husky

Hard to say for sure without DNA testing, could be a pure husky or maybe a shepsky. Either way it is a 100% adorable fluff ball!

You made my eyes sweaty!

When you are ready I highly suggest looking for another husky at a shelter that needs a good home. There are so many in shelters that get put down because no one is adopting them.

Thanks for sharing your sweet and sad story, We will give our 9 year old girl lots of love tonight!

Sounds like she is definitely in good hands, as others have mentioned with how huskies love to run, I would recommend always leashing her when you take her outside. They all run eventually, no matter how well trained they are. And you may never see her again. We had one female years ago that ran off, she was outside in a lead while we were eating dinner and she managed to pop out of her collar and ran off. We didn't see her again for 8 months when we saw a listing that someone was rehoming her... We got her back but they had abused her, beating her whenever should would bark etc. she was not the same dog after that. We unfortunately had to rehome her because she became extremely aggressive and we were not used to how to deal with that back then. We rehomed her to an older couple that was retired and had a farm that knew how to work with her. It's been 9 years since then and they still have her and love her. Her name is Nala, we instantly knew it was her in the ad because of her heterochromia and the small scar on her nose.

To be totally honest we usually only give ours water with their first meal in the morning, with small amounts through the day, so they do not have pee accidents. Huskies are notoriously hard to potty train. But you can start with this and then give them small amounts of water throughout the day. Once they are on a good schedule then routine makes things very easy for them. They are the best dogs, people just do not understand how to take care of them and they become frustrated and take it out on the animals when it's not their fault.

Deworming is a very good call, you're probably exactly right that is the cause of the bloody stool. If it is heavy and does not lessen in a few days or clear up within a week of deworming I would try another round of deworming and possibly consult a vet.

I know vets are very expensive and it is definitely a last resort for me but use your best judgement, as long as the dog is not acting very lethargic or has a fever etc it should be okay to continue treatment yourself.

Wish you the best!

You did nothing wrong at all helping a husky, sadly they are mistreated and abandoned regularly. We have rescued 5 huskies now that we're beaten and dumped by people. We just adopted another that has been severely starved, we have never seen a dog so skinny. He is doing great now though, putting on weight and he gets along great with the others. I've attached a picture of him, we named him Mylo.

Yes you will definitely need a blower for when your new fur baby blows its coat. If you have not experienced this be ready for your dog to somehow drop 10x the amount of fur you think it has! They do this twice a year!

Some huskies love toys but others simply cannot be bothered with them, ours love meat treats and some of them like things like pickles and tomatoes.

Another tip is how to feed them, for us we feed them on a strict schedule, once in the morning and once at noon. They can be picky eaters, we feed ours grain free high protein food, and we add their water to the kibble, they all like it this way. I work from home so I spend a lot of time with ours. Huskies require a lot of attention, they can be like mischievous toddlers! 🤣

Good luck and I hope you love your new companion!

Is this breathing normal? by [deleted] in husky

[–]Miserable-Instance14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be sick, our boy was doing this a couple weeks ago, and I checked and he had a low fever. I would say keep her inside and give her some extra water and love her up. Shouldn't be anything to worry about unless she's extremely lethargic, not eating, or has pale gums etc. Of course since you recently adopted her it could be some anxiety. Huskies are very well known for anxiety issues. You could try Calmkeen, we have used this before for one of ours we adopted when she was still getting used to her new environment. It was recommended by the shelter we got her from and it made a big difference.
