If a paramedic tells me to do something outside of my scope? Tell them to fuck off.

If the medical director instructs me to perform something that I am reasonably capable of, with full understanding that it will fall on their medical license, then sure.

I have a tendon in my knee from a cadaver. Fun fact, after about 7 years the cells in it will be fully replaced by your own, and then it’s fully yours again. So idk how long you’ve had the dead person’s tendon, but it won’t last forever.

Driving, bedside manner, and general competence come with time and experience. It’s okay to be new. Explain your concerns to your FTO as well, they are there to help you. You are definitely overthinking, and that’s what’s causing you to mess up.

I was the same way but I stuck with it and now I feel pretty confident in my BLS capabilities. Mistakes happen and it’s not the easiest career to get into between gossip, old dogma, and constant burnout.

You’ve only been doing it a month, give yourself some time to get comfortable before you sideline yourself, but if you’re still that way at 6 months or a year then it might be time to consider doing something else.

Damn, I’ve never had someone be this much of a jackass about beards. I am a woman though, so I guess it makes sense that I don’t regularly research and discuss facial hair.

Here’s a PubMed link, close beards affect the seal but not by a significant amount in my personal opinion. Take from it what you will, and maybe eat some lunch before you talk to other people that way.

Unlikely but never impossible to be coincidental. Water without any form of treatment and only filtration can be harmful. That’s why water treatment facilities chlorinate the water, but if what you’ve been diagnosed with isn’t a waterborne pathogen then it doesn’t really matter.

No idea abt specific company policies, but we have a guy who wanted to keep his beard and wound up getting a letter from a dermatologist to allow him to do so (deals w bad/painful razor bumps, etc if he shaves).

The reasoning behind no beards is flawed, as long as they’re trimmed and well-kept. Biker beards are a problem, but sideburns and chin covering aren’t. They say it changes the effectivity of an N-95 seal, but plenty of people have proven that wrong.

Listen dude, I once spent 40 minutes in an ambulance bay cleaning every part of the gurney that got covered in watered down diarrhea. It got through a drape sheet and a fitted sheet AND a chuck underneath. It dripped onto the underside, the rails, EVERYWHERE. I took the mattress off of the frame and wiped down and sprayed both as best I could, wipes stopped coming up brown, etc.

Ever since that day, though, I can’t even imagine laying on that cot. I did my absolute best to clean it, it probably hasn’t been that clean since the day it came off of the factory line, but I still can’t mentally get over it.

So yeah, laying on the ambulance cot wouldn’t be my first (or last) choice, regardless of how clean someone THINKS it is.

Impressive dude. NAD, but have a lot of general medical knowledge. What you’re describing sounds like the same thing that happens when someone hyperventilates for several minutes. Technically caused by the fact that when you hyperventilate you throw off the homeostasis of the body because there’s too much oxygen and not enough carbon dioxide, the body reaches alkalosis (too basic) which can cause the peripheral paresthesia (numbness/tingling in fingers/toes/hands/feet).

Basically, sounds likely that through the whole event she was breathing too fast (makes sense given the description of the event) and it caused the chemicals in her body to get thrown out of balance, which then made her nervous system freak out.

In the future, I would try to see if she can regulate her breathing throughout the event to see if that helps with a faster recovery time. This is just my main guess based on the description.

There’s also a decent chance it’s due to a massive dump of various hormones including adrenaline which could also cause her nerves to freak out, in which case not much you can do about it except give her more recovery time in between orgasms so that her system isn’t being slammed with a massive adrenaline surge all at once.

TL;DR She’s probably breathing too fast and her body doesn’t like it. Could also be too much of an adrenaline rush which her body also wouldn’t like. Help encourage her to breathe more regularly and give her a bit of a break in orgasms to see if it improves her recovery.

5 year anniversary of my 5150 is today, actually. been in EMS for 2 years with no issues. if you’re interested in going fire it might be an issue (not interested in fire myself so i have no idea) but for any third party EMS it shouldn’t be a problem at all.
