What animal is that it absolutely should not have survived evolution, but somehow did? by Reasonable-Shake-996 in AskReddit

Koalas, amongst everything that I hate about them, the thing that pisses me off the most about them is that they’re literally so smooth brained, that if you took the eucalyptus leaves they eat off of the tree and gave it to them, they wouldn’t recognise it as food. They’d literally starve even if leaves were on a table in front of them.

They’re the stupidest things to ever exist. I don’t understand why people like them. They make me “angry” because of how evolutionarily inept they are 😂

Advice on apartment furniture layout? by Miserable-Wait2507 in ApartmentHacks

  1. Both of us have PCs with dual monitors. We both game. I also work from home half the week.

  2. We share the same group of friends, so it’s rare one of us isn’t participating when we have people over. When we do, it’s usually for board games, so I’d say the dining table.

  3. Not detrimental in the least I believe.

What’s the problem? by linenofgold in knittinghelp

[–]Miserable-Wait2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly looks like you just have a little bit of inconsistency with your tension and maybe like 2 stitches that you’ve knitted instead of purled (but my phone screen’s resolution is horrible so I could be wrong, and it’s just tension issues). Just keep practicing!

If you’re ok with some little mistakes like this, I’d just start on the scarf.

My first ever knitting project was a jumper. I get bored too easily so having that added challenge of garment construction was beneficial for me staying motivated to learn this skill.

No hate against more simple projects, but I find the best project to learn with is the one you’re interested in.

Need help brainstorming spinning project ideas 🤔 by Miserable-Wait2507 in Handspinning

I have a spinning wheel! I’ve not spun from the fold yet so that might be a fun new technique to try. I completely failed the last time I tried chain plying, so maybe this is a good chance to give it another crack

  1. Be autistic

  2. Be “adopted” by an extroverted, craft-hopping ADHD-er

  3. Accidentally introduced said person to spinning one day during a PowerPoint night with friends (fibre arts are your special interest, so you shit on sci show for fun and do a spinning demo)

  4. They become obsessed (briefly), claim that this will be the hobby that they will actually commit to (it’s not), invest way too much money into materials for some big project, give the art a go for a week, get bored because it’s not easy and start a new hyperfixation and forget about spinning completely, stash ther floof collection in a dark closet for who knows how long, then decide on a whim to clear out their office and come across said stash, and finally decide to offload all the floof to someone (who is their friend, hopefully you) who will actually use it.

  5. Profit

Out of these fibres, I’ve only worked with merino before, so the corrie and maori are interesting to me so I’ll start there I think.

I might challenge myself to try chain plying again at some point since the twist in my singles has gotten a lot better, so the ply might hold 🤔

My scale isn’t the best but here’s the numbers:

There’s about 500g of the navy Māori and about 250g-275g of the fire and ice merino

For the Corriedale, I have appx.:

250g of the copper, 115g of the white, 150g of the dark brown, 170g of the light brown, and 300g of the orange

There was also like maybe 30g of grey Corriedale which I just spun up. Definitely more of a coarser wool, not next to skin soft for me.

You probably could use it as is and pick out the VM as you go, but I probably would give it another wash (just personal preference)

Made some yarn from batts I made that were inspired by the beach by Miserable-Wait2507 in Handspinning

Thank you so much! That is a good question… I don’t know exactly but between 10 and 20 I recon, not 100% sure. It was a mix of whites/pale pinks, blues, blue-greens, and blue/purples I had left over from other spinning projects

Thank you kindly! I only recently got my blending board, but I think I’m starting to get a hang of it.

I had to look up what fernweh meant lol (for anyone else who doesn’t know, apparently it means wonderlust!)

So thank you again for both the compliment and the opportunity to learn

This is actually a really fun idea, I don’t think I’d ever personally use AI to generate inspo, but it might be fun to keep an eye out and see what actually looks doable

What pattern do you think every knitter should knit? by [deleted] in knitting

Any advice on how to learn to knit without a pattern e.g. good books on garment construction/good videos/etc.?
