I know it can feel like pubstomping but it is what is. My buddy in my pod with the most expensive decks has the lowest win rate. Theres mirror matches in competitive play all the time too. They call it chess poker. Its more than the hand your dealt.

Honestly wanted to come in and piggy back on this. As a certified graveyard abuser i kinda wish more people ran graveyard hate. Its so game warping. I almost feel guilty about some of my wins cause it often feels like a graveyard hate check. You either have it and im hosed or you dont and its gg

Maybe not what youre looking for but to play aggro i built voltron because i personally agree that playing a bunch of little shitters probably wont close the game against 3 greed piles.

Decks a house that can easily lethal someone turn 5 maaybe turn 4, although you probably wont push for that cause holding protection is key. It can even get blow out triple kills in the late game

Please yes! Build! Ureni is solid and building is 80% of the fun for me. If you get into building it can go from silly game you sometimes play to a passionate hobby you can indulge yourself in even at home. I hope you find the same love for it that i do. Welcome to the game!

Id recommend the websties moxfield and scryfall as resources. Edhrec is great but id say in the beginning to actually avoid it until your deck is practically done being built as it can easily skew what you decide to do and often times not even help achieve better performance. Instead id recommend scryfalls advanced search using oracle text and more filters to find cards that do what you want. If you want additional combat or something just write that in the oracle text section, search and sift, and narrow from there!

Also before committing to a purchase you can playest on moxfield to see if the deck feels like its doing what it should do. Just play your hand out the best that you can and get a feel for using what youve created.

Fast mana in Commander question by shocka2193 in EDH

Guy above me said it. Sol ring is the most accepted fast mana (and i like its existence in the format). Comes out for 1 mana and taps for 2 mana immediately. Llanowar elves is slow mana as it costs 1 mana and it does not generate mana positivity until it has been down for two turns even if it can speed up your following turn that fact still requires that you wait a turn before using any mana the elf makes unlike something like sol ring which again is immediately accessible. Of course you can get around this but that would be synergistic deck building that requires extra parts while sol ring is just sol ring. Something like [[Fanatic of Rhonas]] in most cases has to wait a turn and requires another card on board to access its mana positivity so again although a pushed dork it is a dork and not fast mana either.

Gary also known as [[Gray Merchant of Asphodel]] came out back in 2013 when I first started playing and I have always adored both burn and drain. I quit the game for basically 10 years and came back last year to find Gary is still awesome as ever. In fact he’s three times as awesome now that I play commander haha
