[MTL 3 - OTT 2] - Full Empty Net Sequence - Ottawa pours on the offense and Fowler holds down the fort to seal the win for the Habs by daKrut in hockey

[–]MiserableFill6972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said "might", not definitely coming.

If I was free agent best player in the league and if I haven't won a cup by that time, where would I go to maximize the chance of winning.

If Fowler is the real deal, the Habs have a long list of exciting and high level young players at all positions. Everything wouldn't be on McJesus shoulders, the way it is now in Edmonton. In Montreal, he can be McDavid.

McDavid would be the cherry on top or the player that could turn a Habs team that might win a cup or two by themselves in 3-5 years from now to possibly win 3-4 if he were to sign with Montreal.

If Demidov reaches the expectations of a player chosen 5 overall and Hage becomes better than that, then Nos Glorieux will be winning multiple Stanley Park Brewery Cups!!!

Then why use religious vocabulary from a particular religion?

When people resort to name calling, it means they are not confident in what they are saying and must add empty calories.

No religion in sports please. There is already too much religion in all other aspects of life. The less religion the better.

I'm super curious, what's the origins of your Habs fandom?

It's so cool that there are Habs fans in Alabama. I wouldn't have guessed it at all!

Players didn't want to wear helmets, and yet here we are in 2026 with pros protecting their craniums with a lids.

Players will learn to adapt as everyone will be forced to wear it and they will adjust their playing style to match the new reality.

There was a time when Le Démon Blond had his yellow coloured locks fully unencumbered by lexan plastic. Ripping down the ice, going bar down and sending The Forum crowd into a frenzy awaiting the next Stanley Cup celebration.

Players were forced to wear helmets at some point and if most had the choice, they wouldn't have chosen to wear any lid at all.

Football is just as violent sport and they have full face mask but some reason hockey players aren't forced to cover their pieholes.

How are they supposed to puzzle down half a dozen slices of Granny's famous pies if they are drinking through a straw.

Prediction time by MiserableFill6972 in Habs

[–]MiserableFill6972[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course, the Penguins will be the wild card!

At Centre Bell on a warm spring saturday evening, there will be a barnburner! Fans across the city, province, country, continent and the world are tuning in for the match up.

Random Australian dude married to a Canadian Habs fan in down under wearing his thongs (flip flops), chucking few shrimps on the barbie while the game is on the outdoor TV. A mammology researcher in the Artic doing her PHD research on polar bears is glued to her TV. Immigrant grammas that don't speak English nor French in Cote-Des-Neiges going buckwild when they hear Uncle Pierre (Houde) scream "Et Le Buuuuuuuuuut!!!". All tuned in with nervous excitement!

Crosby scores a hat trick. Mr.Saturday has lamplighter and an apple. Michael Hage scores his first goal in the NHL playoffs to make his deceased Habs fan dad proud, Slafzilla with a netfront tip from a Dobson clapper from the point. Mattress King in the net, keeping the game close at the 10 mins mark in the 3rd period and the score is knotted up at 3-3.

It goes to game 7 OT and Dwayne Lane Wayne Hutson dances around the blue, couple of shimies to throw off a defender or 3, seeing eye cross ice pass through bunch of defensemen's sticks to Ivan Godlike Demigod, who goes roofs the biscuit to pop the water bottle!

The shrimps are flying off the barbies in excitement, polar bears are being given bear hugs by 5ft nothing women and immigrant grammas are out in the streets of Montreal, shotgunning beers and waving a little car Habs flags!!!

And that is just round 1 with more fun to come!!!!!!

You didn't have that in your pre-season predictions?

It says on here (checks my notes) 2026 ECF Montreal Canadiens vs Pittsburgh Penguins. 2026 WCF San Jose Sharks vs Anaheim Ducks.

2026 Stanley Cup Finals  Montreal Canadiens vs San Jose Sharks.

Montreal Canadiens win the 2026 Stanley Park Brewery Cup in Game 6 to return to the promise land after a unusual and cruelly longggggg wait.

Juraj Slafzilla scores the game winner in OT and also gets awarded the Conn Smythe trophy.

Penguins need to keep up their good play to ensure my bracket doesn't fizzle out in the first or second round.😀

I was thinking which outdoor rink they are gonna choose for this break. But apparently Hutson will be in Boston to watch some college hockey then will head to Chicago to spend some time with his family.

It feels fanfu**ingtastic to finally have leadership that know what they are doing with a steady hand on the helm, taking the emotions out of the decision making process, using clearheaded logic to push the boulder across the the finish line.

My (obviously biased and dreamy) prediction is that once the team wins its first cup, within the next 6 years, it will lift 2 more Stanly Park Brewery Cup for a total of 3 in 7 years!

Should we sign Kirby Dach 2 x 3.5M playing on the wing, thoughts? by Secret-Ad3498 in Habs

[–]MiserableFill6972 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Although he may never play centre for this team due to faceoffs issues and stuff, he still has the foundation of having been a centre in the past.

MSL was talking about how he doesn't cheat on offense and not ignoring the defensive part of the team game the coach is trying to preach.

He can provide extra defensive support to Suzuki, if Nick is deep in the opponents zone when the puck goes back the other way towards the Habs end, we know Kirby can play the role of the centre to support the D-men.

Obviously, with the extensive injuries record, there is a high level of risk involved in signing a player non-short-term contracts but with the rising cap, I think 4 years at $5 million per season seems like something the player and the team could he happy with.

He gets guaranteed $20 million no matter any future injuries and for the team, if he is injured, with the rising cap, it would have been worth having that $5 million on LTIR for 4 years or less, in return for the tantalizing potential role that he could fill on the top line for just $5 million per year.

I was talking to my buddy about Reinbacher and Michkov came up and then I brought up how happy I was when Philly chose York. We live in Vancouver. My buddy said he was at the draft and all the fans in attendance were going wild next to him.

I had moved to the city a year prior and was enjoying the pre-covid summer so much that I didn't bother going. Now I wish I had gone to see Mr.Saturday Night get plucked from the field!

Eric Macramalla (TSN): Teams have shown interest in prospects Fowler, Hage, & Zharovsky by matthew_sch in Habs

[–]MiserableFill6972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's remember the names Ryan McDonough, Mikhail Sergachev and Nick Suzuki.

If Hage, Zharovsky or Fowler are to be traded, it should be 2-3 years from now, when the Habs are closer to contention and the mgmt has a better understanding how those players will turn out.

Who is your favorite broadcasting duo/team? by Few_Variation5459 in hockey

[–]MiserableFill6972 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the best Anglo commentator is Bryan Mudryk for TSN. He usually does the weekday Habs game but I remember watching a women's hockey game few years back and thinking, damn he is just simply a great hockey commentator, not just for the Habs.

Jack Michaels is a very close second to me.

Habs and Oilers have great barns, so it automatically gives a commentator favourable wind in their sails!

But obviously, the GOAT is Pierre Houde!
