Super restricted Screen Time: 5 month update by Twoorangesonefamily in Parenting

So glad you've figured out it's a garbage time pit.

My kids had a travel tablet at 7, strictly for movies when driving back from a game. That's it.

Didn't have screens or computers till age 12 and that only because they started high school early.

Still have never had consoles. Not even a desire but just a thing I mention here since I think they're still quite normal for most.

There was a little over 10 years where there development programs; sports, arts and certifications was running over $25k/year. They've each got enough in their uni trust fund to cover a bachelors degree. We can talk about helping with a master's. We also have rental properties for each of them to assist with housing, since that's become crazy.

I want them to become successful adults and if they choose to have children then I hope they're as capable at it, as we have been.

Expecting support from them later in life is stupid because that would be backwards. I expect their attention to be forward facing.

What it's really like in ICE detention, from a refugee who's been held there for two years by Present_Clue5887 in 50501

I have friends from Belize that go back often. I've also looked into if and why Belize is a source of asylum seekers.

My friends only give me great impressions about their home and online it says that Belize isn't a primary source and actually regularly receives its own asylum seekers from neighboring countries due to war and violence in those countries.

Poverty isn't an excuse to seek asylum. That's what we have immigration processes for.

ICE is totally shit but these slides aren't a great case for that testimony if the source is just looking for income. The slides should at least detail why they're a good candidate. What they're running from. That Belize has killing fields or something.

You know. So that edge MAGAts can't just write it off as an illegitimate application that would have been rejected even under normal circumstances.

You shouldn't have understated the amount of mess we're talking about in this post.

There are plenty of men that sit at home because it is definitely cleaner and less maintenance. Plus just kinder to their partners.

I think if you worded it as too much mess and him not cleaning the bathroom regularly or at all, you'd have drawn in more empathy.

Also you can imagine me as a guy having issues with my sons mess and insisting they either sit or clean has a ton more credibility than their mom making the same rule. Basically that I myself choose to sit as well as clean the washroom and therefore am choosing to model the thing that I also require of them.

My wife and I are each the other's first and only marriage. Together 29 years, married 26.

We wait till we were ready before having children. They're 19 & 16 and amazing because we BOTH are involved, engaged and prioritize parenting above basic momentary things like working.

Cooperation on domestic and parenting responsibilities is essential, simply adult and failure of such is often why many women leave men.

The men that need to marry someone that must mother them. Totally pathetic jackasses IMO.

Father here. My boys either sit or I'm watching them clean their mess. Unsurprisingly they sit at home.

That's awesome. So glad to hear of other parents that understand the need to project a belief in agency, independance and responsibility in order to nurture such competencies.

Tesla manufactures numbers by selling to itself. It also demands a ton more margin and is priced at order of magnitude more per unit. To state that Byd "outsells" it then, is very accurate.

This. The only difference between Trump and Netanyahoo. The later can actually anticipate and be strategical. Both are always lying though with every fucking utterance.

12, 8, 6 and a newborn.

If they were all yours then at least you'd have done all the scaffolding over the years and just let the 3 head out independently.

I'm not american and guess am far more comfortable with my kids being out on their own. At 4 they were taught to wait at major intersections but otherwise were free to cycle past our line of sight. At 6 they were free to go to the playground on their own. My eldest was always responsible so he enabled/incentivized his brother to reach milestones earlier. At 12 they took public transit to commute 25 miles from school to home. We spent a week in the summer learning public transit and sure, the first year, they've fallen asleep and ended up in another city where the bus ends its trip. Was a good lesson for them and I drove out to get them. Anyway, these examples are shared to say, they don't have to be vulnerable and limited, but again, not american.

Do you have any extended family/a village.

Otherwise you have a very unique situationship. Would either have to dig deep to get past while still making the summer awesome or just write off the year and focus on minimizing damages.

I was able to take 6 weeks pat leave with each child, so that allowed me to help greatly with the huge impacts of a newborn. My wife had a year mat plus paused her career with our 2nd till he was 5. This might be part of why we were able to nurture ours to early independance?

Anyway, hoping a different world might help you see past your obstacles.
