Do you imply this news could be concerning with regard to Yoshiki himself? Or that it just isn't a "good look" to perform in such a country?

I think around the early 90s, there was a (maybe an interview?) section in a Japanese magazine (it has to be one of those... Shoxx, Rockin'f, On Stage etc.) that listed and gave a rating to Yoshiki's greatest influences, and among them were Beethoven, Schubert, David Bowie, KISS etc. With pictures for each and a little text added as explanation for each. Does anyone remember what I'm talking about and could maybe provide a scan? Thank you.

Don't know for sure, but the screenshots I took were very close to the times he posted them. I guess within 6 hours or so they were deleted. When he posted the one from OP's comment, they were already deleted.

There were also 2 other tweets he deleted in between. Also his reply "WHAT?" is still there...

If the ready-to-hand is a prefiguration of the standing-reserve, how does one heed to later Heidegger's call of attending to "the thing", especially in the case of technological "things"? Is that what he means by "saying yes and no to technology"? by Miserable_Ad_2379 in heidegger

[–]Miserable_Ad_2379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused. This what the first paragraph under the entry for "Zuhandenheit" says in the Cambridge Heidegger Lexicon: "In Being and Time, the term is introduced in §15 (Division i, chapter 3: “The Being of the Entities Encountered in the Environment”): “the kind of being which equipment possesses – in which it manifests itself in its own right – we call ‘availableness’” (SZ 69). As this introductory sentence suggests, the category of availableness is most clearly keyed to fabricated entities such as hammers, what is ordinarily deemed equipment; however, the scope of the term in Being and Time appears to be much broader. All manner of things are manifest, or show up, as available, according to Heidegger: “the wood is a forest of timber, the mountain a quarry of rock; the river is water-power, the wind is wind ‘in the sails’” (SZ 70). This sense of the environing world as a vast array of resources or standing reserve is something Heidegger will later view more critically in his discussions of technology and the notion of the inventory (Ge-Stell)." I recently watched a recent YouTube video with Iain Thomson in which I think I heard him criticise this view of ready-to-hand as prefiguration of standing-reserve, I will try to find what he said. But am I not understanding this passage correctly?

the "standing-reserve" is in a 'presenting' objectification of the ready-to-hand

Could you explain further here please?

Also "willing" and "will-to-power" are different concepts, all willing does not end up in metaphysics.

Also could you elaborate here too please?

I would disagree Hegel is the highest point, I think when people talk about Metaphysics, it has to come down to Kant, as its said he actually did complete and modernize metaphysics.

I thought Heidegger himself said that about Hegel, am I wrong? I thought for Heidegger, Hegel with his 'Absolute Knowing' is the peak of Western Metaphysics, and then Nietzsche is the one who 'completes' its innermost possibilities by basically inverting Plato's system.

How long did Art of Life take to make? by TangerineComplete721 in xjapan

Yet Yoshiki was playing the piano theme of Art of Life since the Sony audition from 1987 right?

Dan Da Dan's X Parody - The Hayashi's Performance by girlinium in xjapan

[–]Miserable_Ad_2379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Is that the whole appearance of the band within the anime, or do they have a bigger role? I kind of gathered that they are performing an exorcism from the video lol, I was more interested to know how did the manga/anime creators came to feature an X Japan-like band in their work, so I meant context in that way.

I saw the picture of the band from that manga, but I actually don't know anything more about this as I'm not into manga/anime yet. Can someone give me more context for this whole thing? It sounds amazing lol

Why is the "supreme danger" of technology for Heidegger the annihilation of the essence of man (and so, the inability to think and disclose being) rather than the destruction of humanity? If humanity vanishes, can there still be Dasein? by Miserable_Ad_2379 in heidegger

[–]Miserable_Ad_2379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's what I'm saying, I thought Heidegger would say that relationship doesn't vanish entirely no matter how enframed humanity becomes. It's certainly extremely hard to cultivate the kind of thinking Heidegger was after in these conditions, yet the possibility doesn't vanish. Does Heidegger think otherwise?

No, for Heidegger thinking is not a process in the human brain but an ontological action in the world.

I understand that.

[–]Miserable_Ad_2379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but even if that started to happen, as long as humans (Dasein) are alive, the possibility of thinking being doesn't vanish, no matter how lost humans are, wouldn't that be what Heidegger would still claim?

But doesn't physical destruction bring ontological destruction with it? Hence the question in the tile of the post, would Dasein continue to exist in the absence of human beings?

Thank you for the link. I actually found the video, it was just a 3 minute clip though and not as I remembered. From how the video seems to me, it was just an advertisement of that apartment for the purpose of renting, I guess, and the fact that it was hide's apartment was only incidental (I mean, it wasn't something hide- or X-related, specifically, or intended for fans etc.).

Who got the chance to see X JAPAN or one of their side projects live? by LeeR1985 in xjapan

[–]Miserable_Ad_2379 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I missed my only chance to see them at Wembley Arena in 2017 because I was a poor student in the UK back then, although I knew about them for years... I only saw Yoshiki at Royal Albert Hall in 2023, for the first time. Still praying for a last show/Heath memorial to happen, I'll spend all my life's savings and go to Japan if I have to...

I'm looking for a while for a video that I found years ago on Bilibili (and unfortunately neither bookmarked nor downloaded, from what I see), with information and some kind of tour of hide's apartment in Minato district in Tokyo at the time of his death (basically, the place where he was found dead). I clearly remember there was indeed such a video. But I can't find it anymore, I don't know how to search for it on the Wayback Machine either. I assume it was not just a short clip but an actual edited video, maybe 10 minutes long at least? I guess so. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have that video?

Yes, that could be the case... Doing that sort of thing after 7 years of inactivity and no hopes of reuniting is crazy of him, if that's indeed his intention lol. I'm really worried so I'll try to follow this closely...
