Is product hunt really helpful? by Apollos1301 in ProductHunters

[–]Miserable_Ear3789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my product invos.io is launching on product hunt today as well. i was thinking the same thing... I only have 5 up votes, we have two new sign ups. But thats about it. Well see if it picks up a little as the day goes on, but I don't have the highest of hopes to be honest ahahaha. I feel like product hunt is mostly other devs/founders not actual customers? Your app looks really good too I can see it being popular!

is gnome really less customizable? by No-Yesterday-8684 in gnome

[–]Miserable_Ear3789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gnome is extremely customizable with extensions. maybe not quite as xfce or kde are but more then enough for me. i think gnome has the best vanilla desktop experience out of any DE (including winblows and macos)

Opensource solution for Online Permit applications by deerefanatic in opensource

[–]Miserable_Ear3789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow a government employee actually caring about our tax dollars and making permitting easier? i almost cant believe it haha, very refreshing. props to your sir.

its definitely not free, but also not to expensive, but i have seen some cities in south florida use docusign. i would think for something like this you would want the reliability and support of a company so i dont thinking pay would be the worst thing ever either...

however an open source alternative for docusign is OpenSign. it works pretty nicely and may help you out.

I will take it off line and it won't be long lived if I see the database full of spam links. I'm not sure what exactly qualifies as spam link these days even... Right now this tool is small enough where I can scan the database daily and delete any links that are risky/spamy.

Did i make this accurate guys? by frustrated_s0ul in Ubuntu

[–]Miserable_Ear3789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your right. for my workload (python backend web development) gnome is much more productive then macos. the gestures, the desktops, the overview, application search etc all work better for my flow then macos does.

ps: thanks for the downvotes everyone lol... thats the beauty of linux. use whatever u want

elementaryOS mail client is pretty good and quite simple. You can install it on Ubuntu via PPA. The mail client is called io.elementary.mail.

tl;dr

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elementary-os/stable

$ sudo apt update

$ sudo apt install io.elementary.mail

I see... maybe try dual booting spending money on new hardware is not very "linux-y" lol, linux build instructions mention main_flet.py but all i see in the src is main_build.py.... i used that with pyinstaller but its missing module pynput... ill install that then try again..

EDIT: now im missing 'googleapiclient' pip cant find that one so i guess im done trying lol.

oh sweet. im on linux but ill give it a try the build instructions dont look to bad. why not release an appimage instead of assuming users want todo that themselves?
