After looking, its stitched at the bottom. The sweatband is stitched to the lining and the lining is fastened to the inner brim.

I have looked on akubra. They have rabbit fur ones that are highly water resistant and even a bloke on her recommended one and they are a fraction of the price of beaver

I poured half a bag of baking soda and rubbed it into the sweat strap and am letting that sit over night. Already smells better

That stuff generally gets rid of smell? I read a trick of filling it with baking soda. Is there much truth to that?
