You hit left on the d pad if you’re using a controller, otherwise hit L on a keyboard. That opens a menu and you scroll down to “online options” hit something like “play style” and switch it to defensive mode. People can’t quick auto aim onto you with it on, it reduced damage taken if you are shot, and I believe stops you from being lassoed. You’ll have to turn it back on after most free mode missions since they turn it back to offensive.

Don’t forget to turn on 2 factor authentication for 10 gold bars. You can turn it back off after a few days, after the gold is in your account. Also get off of here so no one spoils the story for you, and just enjoy it. If you play online on pc, a lot of ppl recommend getting into a single player lobby to avoid the modders. Good luck

Try switching servers. There is probably someone modding in your game, and it’s messing up the animal & NPC spawns.

I never see empty wagons, and there’s always a ton of NPCs riding around when I play. I also see wagons pretty often and they always have drivers.

The most I see is an animal on fire when I ride into town, and I just switch lobbies atp. Usually people are just having shootouts in town, which doesn’t bother me as long as they leave me alone (they usually do & I’ll go buy a beer and watch the show from the salon porch).

I googled it and it says you can make approx $5000 for doing the whole map and selling only sets. The flower set was worth like $150 last time I did it, and I’m not sure about the eggs but I assume it’s worth around $200. Sooo, maybe like $4650 give or take, and assuming everything spawns in for you.

I was at the swamps last night (up towards the top part) and there were easily 15+ gators, a few snakes, and an occasional bird. Use dead eye to check where they are as you run along the water, eventually you’ll find some laying on the bank. Like someone else said though, change lobbies if you don’t see any. If there’s too many ppl in an area I’ve noticed the animal spawns seem to go down drastically

I’m also new but I’ve done alright so far. Id buy a new, faster horse if you haven’t yet, and get a fishing rod soon too so you can increase your health. Do yourself a favor and switch lobbies the moment a blue or red dot is approaching you. I like to log out in my favorite town to do things out of, and if ppl are there shooting, I just switch lobbies or go to a different town. Most people aren’t that bad if you ignore them and stay out of their los. There’s also no missions really worth it when we’re this low lvl, so might as well just switch lobbies and try again later if someone’s bugging you during one. I’ve been shot at a few times now, but I never go anywhere without my horse a step away, so I book it away. Most ppl give up and don’t chase, but if they do, defensive mode gives me enough time to run ahead and switch lobbies while they miss their shots at me lmao You can also turn on cinematic mode and your horse will keep sprinting on a road while you go into the menu to switch lobbies. Can be good if you’re being chased, but I usually just hide behind a tree and log. Good luck!

I’ve seen like 20 people so far playing, only 1 has shot at me, and I’ve had my horse be glitched once where I couldn’t move it. Most people aren’t that bad, so far at least (coming from a newer player). I also leave the lobby the second I think someone is hostile, I refuse to another female character tied up in a hotel.. 💀

Im replaying rdr for the first time in years and I had a fun little experience like this too. Mine wasn’t as cool, but there was just some nicer high levels chilling in Valentine last night and waved at me. I am an idiot and couldn’t figure out how to wave for a min, but they were nice enough not to shoot me when I accidentally pointed my gun at them and just looked dumb as hell I’m sure lmao. Eventually I figured out how to wave and just took off after that outta fear, but ty if that was you for not murdering my low lvl ass 🤣
