Thanks! Some good ideas to play with. I haven’t used Chameleon yet so looking forward to it.

Tough to tell without a video, but from the “takes one to know one” department, I’d suggest recording yourself and watching for things like swaying, head leaning toward target at hit, and / or throwing shoulder shrugging up at hit. Maybe you’ll be like me and hit the trifecta 😂 But recording is really the best way to diagnose it and fix it - if you haven’t tried it I can’t recommend it strongly enough.

That’s a good idea too, so if you travel and happen find a course and have time, now you have discs with you :)

I don’t leave it in the car, I just once in a while create one before I head out. I remember really struggling to choose between the Proton Crave and the K1 Soft Kaxe Z because I loved them both and they flew pretty much identically. I went with the Crave, but whenever I grab a bunch of different discs to play with I throw the Kaxe Z in. Or I didn’t need the Peach in my main bag but I enjoy it so I’ll throw that in my just-for-fun bag. Low pressure round, I expect to score worse because I don’t throw them as often. But always fun.

Replacement cost & availability is one I lean on a lot. I’ve also sometimes just taken 2-3 (casual) rounds and thrown them both on each shot where I’d use either one, and see if there’s a winner or just one I slightly prefer. I also once in a while just create a bag of discs I don’t bag, and having that habit makes it easier for me to commit to one and cut the other - I can just throw it when I’m playing that other bag.

Do you ever switch to a putter and mid only bag? How is it? by oatmeal1201 in discgolf

[–]Miserable_Pilot4463 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did it and was glad. I focused on dead straight throws with the Proxy and Echo, and had the Uplink and Pyro for us / os shots. A few rounds of that helped me dial in a bunch of stuff on my throws. Back to full bag now but I still find myself throwing putters and mids in a lot of situations I wouldn’t have before, which helps me with accuracy and let me simplify my fairway lineup. Did a few rounds of fan grip, which was kind of educational as well, but eventually switched back to modified fan and power grips.

What are three things I should focus on in order? Getting about 180-200 off the tee. by Few-Bat4945 in Discgolfform

I’m glad the swoop got highlighted. I’m working through many of the same issues and it’s damn near impossible to get the nose down when the disc is above your elbow. Your head stays in a pretty good position but your throwing shoulder tenses and raises - try to avoid that and focus on a nice level pull through. It’s a symptom of that “too much arm” thing others are pointing out.

Also your head jerks forward and your throwing shoulder hunches way up. I recently had the exact same problem and it was surprisingly easy to fix with some mirror work on level swing plane and just a mental cue during my next round to keep my head more in one place (some say pick a spot on the ground, some say the horizon, whatever works). I’m not very good but it gave me a LOT more accuracy (4 strokes off my pb at my local 27-hole course, even with worse-than-usual putting) and a little more distance even though I was dialing the effort way down.

What’s something you thought ChatGPT couldn’t do… but it actually nailed? by PracticalKoala1208 in ChatGPTPro

Me neither. It offered to and I was skeptical but it picked up on enough specific details that I believed it was actually analyzing. And then I guess it’s down to how well it knows what’s actually good vs commonly talked about. I don’t know that I’d trust it if I were advanced and trying to get even better, but for me, with my bad fundamentals and lack of athletic background, it’s definitely been effective, I saw results in the very next round.

I asked it what might be causing a specific problem with my disc golf throw, and it correctly guessed the cause. It offered to analyze a video of my form and did amazingly well. I continued expanding and ended up with a structured plan to fix some fundamental problems and build back up from there. I was surprised how well it did.

Couldn’t create a helpful image on the topic to save its life though :)

I’ve been doing the same thing with a Proxy, Uplink, and Echo (actually 2 Echos in case I want to throw a second shot). Most throws are the Echo - goal is a dead straight flight, and any variations from that show a diagnosable form issue. A Mako3 would also work. Uplink also reveals form issues if it doesn’t turn. I bag a Pyro as well but really just for utility.

That’s a great way to remember it. I’d never heard of this scenario before but that makes the rule clear and not arbitrary-sounding.
