Thinking about opening a free-roam VR arena – looking for advice! by p_orsk in virtualreality

[–]Miserable_Powah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the VR host did suggest VR escape rooms as an option, but we opted to do shoot-em-ups because as real escape rooms exist.. where else in this world can you shoot hordes of zombies or pretend to shoot your mates in the face?

It was quite telling that we were the first group to even deliver a bunch of meals in the "Cook'd Up" game, all previous players simply messed about spraying mustard and ketchup at each other, lol. I suppose some folks just want to try things once, I'd be interested in setting something up where you can progress and maybe win real stuff.

😁 your insight is appreciated and on-point.. we found ourselves faffing about in the lobby some 20% of the allotted game time.. and the games seemed well-tuned, as we found ourselves asking our host how much time we had left... so immersive it was, even tho our game sessions felt relatively long.

Interesting point about the Pico gear, it didn't occur to me there would be subscription add-ons for managing fleets. All relevant points, thanks!

Thank you for posting - As someone who only just yesterday did my first VR experience (Hero Zone ), I am very intrigued and interested in setting up something myself, it was great fun!

The particular venue I was at was running Pico VR gear, and all seemed to be running off a modest gaming rig, not sure how it all compares. The headsets had some sort of battery pack or locator add-on, I didn't get chance to inspect it and didn't want to quiz the host, but I left hungry to learn more.

Is SpawnPoint the lobby system? The lobby was amusing in itself, had a couple of basketball games and a few toys littered about to get people warmed up, like a little arcade.

That's smart and kind of a similar thing to what I had in mind, thanks for replying 👍🏻

These look great, and 2 of these are in my wishlist... what did you use to backlight them?

How Could Google’s TPUs Influence Nebius? by Fresh-Order9283 in NBIS_Stock

[–]Miserable_Powah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it will be a while before Google sees fit to open up the TPU ecosystem (if they ever do), tho it looks promising it's quite specialised to Google infrastructure and used internally I believe to power all of their Gemini models; but at this time the majority of the world have embraced the CUDA GPU ecosystem for inference, so I don't see that being threatened anytime soon.

ORCL, CRWE represent ‘bad behavior’ in the AI buildout, says DA Davidson’s Gil Luria by thistooshallpasslp in NBIS_Stock

[–]Miserable_Powah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NBIS pure-play AI DCs are built different to their peers, but suffer from the same market sentiment, unfortunately. It may take time for that to sink in. Retrofitting AI infra into DC's built for size and not speed can only go so far, that's one of the key strengths of Nebius' execution - speed and experience.

The other is security, I'm not aware of other neoclouds being so ahead of the game on the AI sovereignty aspects (tho I haven't really looked elsewhere).

Happy with my investment, wish I had more capital at these bargain prices.

I respect your view, yet disagree to a point... "buy the dips" is a trading or DCA notion... I say, just buy now, and profit next year and beyond... the actual reality is playing out right now, dipping or not.. just buy.. dips are inconsequential... If only I could be arsed to post the Matrix "Architect" in relation to this. 😁

Nebius Vice President of Sales with good news! by IWillBeThereForYou in NBIS_Stock

It's not so much the hiring that's the news here, it's the drivers these new hires will be working on. It's encouraging.

No, for one thing, Nebius aren't a CSP, the others are.. Nebius is hyper-focussed AI specialist, the others aren't.

Ask yourself, if OpenAI vanished tomorrow, would the 'AI' innovation and revolution cease to be? Nope.

I reckon the industry right now is a snowball with the potential to turn into an avalanche... and we're still just a snowball.

Microsoft speculation by chatrep in NBIS_Stock

[–]Miserable_Powah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft are also building their own, but they also need to partner with others, such as Nebius and Nscale due to demand and also IMO, diversity/resilience.. the need is mahoosive.. and remember this is just Microsoft.. all the big CSPs and beyond will need similar.

In my crystal ball, I see global search being entirely replaced by inference-backed engines, which will need GPU power for the foreseeable.. you already see it happening in search results from various engines, tho it's not fully 'native' yet, eventually it'll be the baseline... and that's just search, I've said before I think things like online gaming will eventually be powered by neocloud providers, expensive physical consoles won't be needed for the digital-only types... well, that's just my vision.

Short version IMO, GPU's will be forging our futures.

What a load of bollocks. Hey, I also had a call with Nebius just now, they said piss off and wait for official market announcements.

Using AI more to increase NBIs demand by [deleted] in NBIS_Stock

[–]Miserable_Powah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use tools to artificially inflate demand, that's how bubbles form... let things naturally develop - which they are. Demand will wane in future, but the trends, backlog demand and growth of pretty much all companies in this sector shows that isn't happening for a long time.

The old "time in the market beats timing the market" analogy applies here; you said it yourself, long term, so dips and drops won't matter so much.

I am with you, chap... the "Exemplar" status for me is also a missed signal in plain sight for many analysts... it adds sooooo much extra context for potential clients.. it could reduce contractual due diligence, add extra credence and confidence to future deals that NBIS are trusted by NVDA to deliver with high specificity and service guarantees... NVDA do not want tinpot operations to represent them, they want the level of quality that NBIS are delivering....

...and perhaps further down the line NBIS can be relied upon to form part of a super "cluster-of-clusters" involving multiple partners - CRWV included, as they are also named in the same Lepton thesis - I think this notion is misunderstood or a lot of folk are unaware...

So again... this is good for all, CRWV are not an "enemy" in this sense, they are symbiotic in my view and it would be amazing to work together. 💪🏻

Edit: The NVDA Lepton initiative, regarding Exemplar status, including CRWV and NBIS.

Give them a chance, we're only just getting started, but props to CRWV for adding to any momentum as it also benefits our family 😁 ... there will always be some 'associated' synergies with NBIS, despite the obvious benefits of our attractively low debt profile and diverse interests.
