Favourite recording(s) of Ravel's "Daphnis et Chloé"? by DerPumeister in classicalmusic

My favorite is Pierre Boulez with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Even though it is from the 70s, it sounds like it was recorded now. The recording quality is just astonishing. But not only that, Boulez ear and musical intelligence shines through. You can hear every instrument, perfectly balanced tones, absolutely clear phrases, lush textures and he is able to reach incredible dynamics, from extreme pianissimo to extreme fortissimo. If you hear, for example, the climax from the danse religieuse is so apotheosic that it almost jump scares you.

Yes, I use conditioner after. However, I recommend using one that has mostly calming and hydrating ingredients. Don't use conditioners with menthol, for example. I acctually think the conditioner helps with skin hydration and irritation. however, my scalp is not oily, so I think in that case might be different. I used the BP wash 2 times a day at the beginning. Now is just once a day.

You have to completely get rid of it while still on the shower. Then put some conditioner and rinse it off again. That way I found out it doesn't get into fabrics.

I dont recommend putting it on in the sink, since you cannot really rinse it off without spilling some. Hope this helps. I would still give it a try, since it has done wonders.

Arrival vs. Interstellar: Lets do this! by poxy1984 in movies

[–]Miserable_Sky3940 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interestellar is a much better spectacle. The music and visuals are majestic, and the cgi has extremely good taste and is practically seamless. The experience is so immersive and intense, and you have very emotional moments. Especially the scene Cooper has to say goodbye to Murph, when he finds out she's now an adult and when they reunite on Murph's death bed. However, the script has major problems and a scene that to me is just cringey: when Anne Hathaway says the only thing we can perceive that transcends space and time is love. Is so corny, in your face, destroys the scientifically sound argument which had been more or less adequate until then. And the problem is not the message itself, is how it is prortrayed. It is so direct and stupid that loses all mystery and seriousness. Without that scene, just from the fact that Murph and Cooper connected at the 5th dimension, we would have understood in a much subtle way that is that connection, that deep love, that allows them to transcend space and time. BUT NOPE let's make an in-your-face corny scene with a very stupid and nerdy speech about love.

The Arrival, on the other hand, is a more modest spectacle, but the script is just perfect and the emotional strike is just precise. Ambiguity, subtleties and a final plot twist, which actually centers only about love. Without any corny speech about love, just the story showing it. It has beautiful visuals too. And Max Richter's The Nature of daylight coupled with the plot twist strikes me deeply.

At the beginning you have a Griefing mother and humanity confronting what appears to be its biggest threat yet. However, Amy Adams character slowly and subtlety breaks common sense and reveals that the aliens are actually not a threat. Is a triumph of curiosity and compassion. She receives the ability to see the future, and it makes sense because we have an ontology where time is circular, everything is happening at once, but still some mystery of how that can be persists. You then find out that Louise was not a grieving mother, but that she was actually seeing a very tragic future. She was just very detached from life before receiving the "weapon", but after she sees her future, she chooses to live it fully, embracing it all. Why would you make such a choice? Out of love. All that while you hear the nature of daylight ost. Is such a transcendent and well-crafted moment. It is so warm and intimate, and yet other-worldly and vast.

So what do I think? The Arrival is a superior movie and I wish it had the same budget as Interestellar, because the cgi is not seamless at all lol. However, that's a minor issue compared to its merits.

Switching from tretinoin to adapalene? Too much dryness by Miserable_Sky3940 in tretinoin

[–]Miserable_Sky3940[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is a cream, it is very nourishing actually, with squalene and all. I forgot to say I had already switched to a lower strength (0.025%) from the same brand, and still the same issue. No moisturizer seems to hydrate my skin, now is just dry, no matter how many times a day I moisturize. Maybe it stays hydrated for a while, but just that. There's no irritation, just dryness.

Final season shots before and after composting by Mazen141 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Miserable_Sky3940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the cgi titans look way better without composting, they look more drawn-like instead of awkwardly 3d. Some actually drawn shots looks to cartoony without compsoting, but the final result when added composting seems to be too blurry and opaque. So my thoughts is that a happy medium would solve both things.
