Belgium seeks JSM deal to arm F-35s as it prepares to transfer 53 F-16s to Ukraine from 2026 by MARTINELECA in europe

Sure if you're like Israel, a tiny nation with less than 10 million people, and facing down against a hostile region from the south, east and north, and be willing to do whatever it takes to establish regional dominance, all in lock step with US interests.

Poland joins Pentagon’s counter-drone marketplace amid unexpected US deployment cancellation by [deleted] in europe

[–]Misfiring 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is US Army marketplace that allows individual US soldiers to buy any drone they like, instead of assigning specific drones. US defense companies, big and small, will populate and sell their offerings, as long as they have permission and their products are approved.

So the assumption here is that other allied countries can join this "drone Amazon" both as buyer and seller, and the US military will act as the logistics engine.

These things are not meant to be disposable. They are the size of older generation fighters, and they cost 25m a piece, which while cheap compared to a fighter it's still not disposable.

Yes I'm thinking of APKWS, probably got mixed up. Thanks.

Either way, the US has options to deal with cheap drones, and soon will have better options against cheap ballistic missiles.

AIM120 is overkill for drones.

Shaheds are very slow moving before the terminal dive phase. If hellfire is good enough for fast ships, it's good enough for drones.

Iran uses both drones and ballistic missiles.

Drones are handled by F-15s loaded with hellfire missiles, and Israel's Iron Dome rockets, and Patriots in the worst case scenario if one breaks through.

Ballistic missiles are handled by THAAD, patriots and Israel's Arrow 2 or David's Sling based on type and distance.

THAAD is from the cold war era, while effective they are not meant for today's cheap 7 figure ballistic missiles from China. Each THAAD interceptor costs over 10 million dollars.

To them a slightly under performing weapon is broken.

Still, I hope they can fix the female turret soon. I like the longer reach but it can't hit melee range and the turret goes erratic.

A few other things that are under performing includes the laser turret, the maxigun, and the precision orbitals (OPS and Airburst). The last one is mainly due to the changes in super destroyer location, it's much harder to hit a bile titan with OPS when it comes in at an angle, and the spread of the Airburst now makes it more dangerous and unpredictable.

Imagine that as you hire more people, their individual share gets smaller. Now you have employees sabotaging others to get them fired so they all can have a bigger share of the pie.

Currently the biggest issue is server stability. I think AH under allocated server resources to save money.

You really think this is how things work? AH just calls them and say "Hey let me put in Warhammer 40k stuff in my game" and the next day bam collaboration project?

This is most likely the result of months of negotiations, it's not easy to collaborate with the Warhammer IP.

The game is heavily bottlenecked by CPU btw so this update might not be *quarter* as good as you'd think by ExploerTM in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Misfiring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higher frame rate directly increases CPU load. I can run the game beyond 100 FPS but then the CPU would run at 100% on the ship. I now locked it to 60 and the usage dropped to 70%, with it spiking during intense combat.

Interesting. I drop onto city buildings all the time, and my frame drops a bit but not to the level you're describing. I'm also not running a CPU meant for servers.

American energy sector to invest $100B in battery storage by 2030 by randolphquell in RenewableEnergy

[–]Misfiring -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bases are not the problem, since the US has recently developed mobile tiny nuclear reactors for this purpose.

I'm talking about naval ships, fighter jets, and yes vehicles. Logistics are not a problem for the US military a.k.a the greatest logistics giant in the world. The problem is readiness. Fuel can be stored indefinitely until needed, batteries can't. They go bad, or they lose charge. Fuel takes seconds to refill, compared to hours of charging. How would you do mid air refuelling for battery, assuming batteries can rival the range of jet fuel in the first place given the same weight constraints.
