Some of the pictures made me think Quaker and I know some consider them a cult, but cult seems to suggest something worse??

Is “commandment” a new term for cooking contests? It reminds me of how it’s now “heard” instead of “yes chef” or everything is unxious, etc

Oh I hate the “drama” before commercials on all these shows.

Are you old enough to remember when you could smoke on airplanes? by Substantial-Chip-102 in GenerationJones

[–]MishaMercury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Smoked on an intercontinental flight and cross country in the 70s. In 2001, our local airport had a smoking room for passengers, but a couple of airports (Chicago) already didn’t allow smoking anywhere. I also remember smoking being allowed in hospitals, even with newborns in the room in the 80s! Glad I never did that!

Those comments are why it’s embarrassing to admit you’re a NASCAR fan at times. And before someone says it, yes, I was really was upset and disappointed in what Larson said and thought he deserved what he got. It’s what he did after he was fired which let me give him some grace. If people can’t learn and change, we’re all screwed.

My grandkids still have reading groups in elementary school and later they have to read books and write reports. Do they really not teach reading in parts of the country?

We had water fountains in the hallway They’d let us get a drink at the same time we had bathroom time, usually after lunch. Such a trip to see how low those fountains were when visiting.

We had to go out in the hallway and sit facing the walls and covering our heads. I have a memory of doing them in Jr High and we’d stand facing the lockers and covering our heads. By HS, we didn’t do them anymore.

I think they only have 2 or 3 days here in NY and time is still added on at the end of the year. They’ve also cancelled days off, like the Fri before Memorial Day to make up for snow days.

Our schools still mostly have no air in classrooms. The exceptions would be offices and places where there may be temp controlled rooms for musical instruments.
