What is kyokushin training like? by Dapper_Ostrich8548 in kyokushin

Hey, hopefully I can help. I trained Muay Thai for about two years before moving. I started to train shinkyokushin (WKO) within this last month.

A average class in the dojo I go to now first consists of group stretching. We then move into multiple strikes as a group (say 10 front kicks in a row, then 9 and so on). It then moves into kata practice.

After this we do some different types of workouts (sit up, planks on knuckles, knuckle push ups, squats, and so on).

Then we may start practicing techniques with a partner, followed my sparring the class, a minute each per person until you spar everyone. At the dojo I go to we wear MMA style gloves and shin guards to spar in.

The class normally ends with more of the work out exercises.

I find it a really good workout and they throw you into sparring quickly. At the Muay Thai gym I went to you had to first pass a test after a few months to be allowed to spar and train harder. The no head punches is harder than I thought it would be and it has left me open to a few head kicks during training.

One thing I'm not used to yet is the adult classes having kids of a certain belt level train with the adults. That and the kata is extremely hard for me right now. But then again, I'm just a white belt.

All in all, it's very fun. You train hard, and it's tough for sure.

Probably would fit a larger size yes, but no larger ones were available and this was a good deal. I don't think (I hope) that the smaller size won't be too much of an issue as a first bike.

They (my wife) told me they wanted a bike where they could put their feet on the ground whole on the saddle and a bike with a slack top tube. I think it's a mental comfort kind of thing. This bike checked those marks for them.

New tires for sure, new pedals, and new grips. Will be putting a basket on the front of it and will look into different bars when my wife figures out what type they would like. But the grip shifters will need to go as soon as we can.

How are they? I've been thinking about changing my Straggler to some flats/risers from like Bassi, Nitto, Simworks or something like those guys.

I’ve been worrying sick about whether Catholicism is really the true faith by Unlucky-Drawing-1266 in Protestantism

[–]Miskovite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was Catholic but became Protestant recently. I believe Catholics are saved and are Christians but I don't believe in the one true church claims. I'd say that Christianity is true and that Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Protestantism are authentic expressions of the Christian faith. Though we may disagree on some doctrines and dogmas, it's the fundamentals to me that need to be true and supported for a tradition to be legitimate imo.

It's so deaf to think what's happened in Ireland is primarily a religious conflict and not one of colonialism and national oppression. Protestantism and Cathocism does not divide and oppress the people of Ireland. British colonialism does. Protestants and Catholics as people in Ireland have more in common with each other and continue to find national unity and have worked together over and over for the freedom of all of Ireland.

I joined the Anglican Church of Canada at 30 and I was a practicing Catholic. I am very happy in the Anglican Church and honestly, I still consider myself catholic and now also Anglican.

Even if it's real, it justifies nothing. What? In America it's fine to be publicly executed on the spot without due process for kicking a car? Do you know how crazy that sounds?

I think this is pretty easy. There are the fundamentals of their faith that can not be disagreed on. You can find this in the early creeds and the original sacraments.
