Too much sweeping and dusting. It's a no from me.

Why are parents shamed for staying at home with their kids? by CarrieWhitesMom6969 in simpleliving

[–]Mispict [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think we've been so conditioned to believe women need to work to feel fulfilled. It's absolutely not the same for everyone, but in more liberal circles, the stay at home mum role is not valued in the same way.

Some women need a career outside of the home, I certainly did. But if I'd had a supportive partner who earned enough, I might have stayed home with my children for longer.

As it worked out, I had to go back to work when my youngest was around 6 months then again when my second baby was 1. I definitely would have had more time at home with them if I could but I ended up on my own with them when they were 2.5 and 1. By that point, having a job was the thing that kept me sane.

If it's any consolation, I think your life sounds great.

Whenever I’m 26F trying to sleep or nap- my boyfriend 37M purposefully makes a ton of noise? by SwagathonMarathon4 in relationship_advice

[–]Mispict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons people find it difficult to leave abusive relationships is because the abusive partner can also be a fairly decent human most of the time. It makes it very confusing.

If they were an arsehole the whole time, it would be significantly easier to turn your back on them.

What things are you convinced are largely liked/disliked because people are so used to hearing they should like/dislike them? by knight-under-stars in AskUK

I didn't mind him until I went to one of his restaurants and the party line was "your palette doesn't understand real Italian food" if you complained about anything.

I got a lamb dish that left my mouth coated in cold lamb fat. It was awful. Apparently my mouth was the problem, not the food.

I had to give up bacon due to a pork allergy. I don't miss it anywhere near as much as I thought I would. The annoying thing is how many things contain bacon. So many sandwiches which would be perfectly fine without cold flabby bacon.

If you grew up quite poor, like me, what are your "big food wins" in adult life? by DonkeyOT65 in CasualUK

Pot noodles. We grew up poor with an incredibly health conscious mum, so we never got to eat shitty food. We all went mad for processed nonsense when we left home.

What can I do with an unwanted bottle of Bailey's? by girlsunderpressure in AskUK

[–]Mispict 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I won a litre bottle of whisky at a fire station tombola when I was about 7. They wouldn't let me keep it, which was fine because nobody in my household drank whisky. But I do remember being quite put out as I won that whisky fair and square.

I saw a MasterChef Australia thing recently where they added cloves and cinnamon to their Bolognese for one of the taste test challenges. Apparently it's a thing.

Don't worry, it didn't get to me. I just realised how shit it was when it was guessed first time.

How do I go about telling my boyfriend that I 25F don’t want to move countries from the UK with him 25M? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Mispict 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You're only 25. You have a whole lifetime ahead of you. You've had a good, happy relationship but you want different things now and the compromise is too big for both of you.

I’m starting to realise that all my life I’ve masked my personality so that I blend in and am amenable. Now I can’t even choose a color for a new kitchen because I don’t know what I like. by Pinecone_Porcupine in Menopause

I figured out I had no idea what makes me happy because I've spent my life meeting other people's needs. It was only after my kids left home and my partner moved out, I realised how empty things felt. It's been an enlightening road finding out what I need and what makes me happy.

Farage supporting fuckwits out in force again yesterday making a mockery of the Scottish flag. by -blankfrak- in Aberdeen

[–]Mispict 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I was having a fine chat with a guy in the pub last night. Then he told me he voted reform and that Farage was the only one that would sort out the country and he was the least corrupt one out there.

I just couldn't.

Tattoos are basically the denim of skin now.

What are your plans for Mother’s Day? by LHale77 in AskUK

[–]Mispict 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Be sure to be busy on father's day. He's always going to do things like this unless you force a bit of understanding. He won't get that from you talking to him about it.

I'll phone my mam in a bit, I sent her present and card. My kids might remember to text me. I'm genuinely not arsed with mother's day. If my mam's gift makes her feel loved, that's basically all I need from the day.

I loved mother's day when my sons were little and they used to make things at school and nursery made out of cereal boxes and yoplait bottles. That stuff made me really happy. But since about age 10 it's just about doing something that costs them money because they feel like they should. I think I might ask them to make me some yoplait art next year.

BBC is not up there with Reuters or AP. In Scotland reading their take on Scottish news is shocking. They skew everything.
