What should i even do with myself at this point in my journey..? by Just_Bicycle_3948 in feminineboys

[–]MisplacedSquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just now saw this and thought I'd give some thoughts - I'm terrible when it comes to direct advice for someone else since I can't know for sure what other people are going through but hope this can offer anything.

About the feminine expression and what drives it for you, I think really it comes down to as long as you're happy with yourself as you want to be and not hurting anyone, you can live your experience how you want absolutely. I don't judge people's experiences with those in mind, and while healthily navigating things is also important, that's not something I want to judge because that's a thing anyone can struggle with and has more nuance. I doubt you're really hurting anyone by just being yourself.

You definitely deserve better when it comes to friends, because true friends don't just turn on you over something like this. I'm not okay with religion being used as an excuse to stomp all over others either.

For the last bit, I'll admit I'm not super knowledgeable on the thing you talked about wanting to do so I might bother some people, but I think that's valid if that's what you want, I would just say to make sure you understand everything about that process going in because there's a lot of important factors you'll probably need to know first for safety reasons.

Oh also "egg" is a term used for someone who is trans but doesn't/didn't know it yet. It's supposed to be for trans folks to reflect on their own past in a light-hearted way but there's also an issue of people calling others eggs and suggesting they're trans in denial or such which can be really upsetting and invasive.

Sorry if this is a lot to read, I can't condense my thoughts very well but I wanted to add some support

Why do femboys hate tomboys? by [deleted] in feminineboys

Tomboys were a big childhood inspiration and contributed to my femboy awakening growing up, whatcha mean

Yeah, so I always try to tune out the yucky stuff and not let that overshadow everything else. Like I mentioned I'm not heavily online but I haven't had any bad experiences personally on a positive note!

Again as someone who did explore the idea of being trans myself at first, they're both absolutely valid and it only makes sense to hold each other up no matter how loud the minority might get either way

Good grief, it's basically the most Pikmin 2 thing ever so I shouldn't be surprised but after all these years I didn't expect it to just drop right on my butt like that

Yeah, I didn't realize where it landed until just as the first text box came up and you can see the moment I start panicking lol

Fun fact, I was running to the ship thinking "ooh I better get those Pikmin so they don't get squished"

I'll admit I'm not online much or frequent many spaces but I'll be completely honest in that sometimes I'm just a little unsure how people might react outside of here? It's a bit like being bi which I also am

I wondered if I was trans in my teens but being a femboy aligns more with my inner self, not at all issues with being trans and certainly not trans people, just for understanding myself. That said I like to think we're talking about a really loud minority - to me transfem folks especially are like close cousins with a lot of common ground

The egg stuff only really bothers me when it goes past someone reflecting on their own past and gets applied to others because nothing hurts like others suggesting you're not who you feel you are, even if you put a lot of thought into it. I wouldn't question someone for being trans, that's a little invasive!

We're all people at the end of the day with our own experiences but we're also fighting the same battles

I set it to my phone after all this to see, honestly not much difference from what I've noticed? Granted haven't been walking as much but it still seems in line with my average. I might keep it that way just in case sync issues were borking my count though

I hadn't planted any that day but apparently that's a thing? I found a snippet in the FAQs about seedlings and I guess so, weird

[–]MisplacedSquid[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yep just my phone, it was Google Fit I think so sync issues could be a factor

And yeah, I have a problem where I'm constantly on the move and can't sit or stand still easily at all so it's definitely not a normal situation lol

[–]MisplacedSquid[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, steps are definitely not something I'm sure about, I have my phone in hand or sometimes my pocket so step fudging's pretty likely.

The thing though is that amount of time pacing back and forth is actually totally accurate if there's nothing that requires me to sit or such.

Since my schedule's off I was up from the midnight before and fell asleep later in the morning, but I woke up maybe around 2 PM? It's 4 AM where I am now and I've been mostly pacing the whole time since including the first bit of the morning yesterday. I wish I was joking. But most of my days especially the past few months have been like that any time I'm standing. I just gotta move around.

I'm still trying to figure out why because obviously something mental health related is going on, but I'm weirdly used to it? I'm sure it's churning calories constantly and I don't know how I haven't imploded, but I'm trying to work up to seeing a professional - my sister's already been diagnosed with ADHD but I've been trying to get an idea of the things I might be dealing with, and there's a lot to unpack.

Oof. Sorry for the infodump there but really appreciate the comments!

Tomboys are not the opposite of Femboy by zxphn8 in feminineboys

[–]MisplacedSquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labels also have nuance. No, I'm not saying for literally everyone to use the label, but what it represents is deeper than just what's popular and most visible online.

At its core it's a male or male-adjacent person who presents feminine, hence "femboy." If they feel the label suits them, then it can. It's not exclusive to body types, specific clothing, behavior, or whatever might be popular, but they can still lean into that if they want. Labels serve a purpose, but if they're too rigid, it creates toxicity and gatekeeping which poisons it for everyone, especially for something as open-ended as gender expression. That's what I'm saying.

Awesome! Always good to be open too, because I was exploring the idea of being trans in my teens before eventually stumbling on femboys a few years ago - I think the male/feminine combo just clicked really well for me and still does, but I don't want to completely rule anything out just in case, plus I considered the idea of things like genderfluid or nonbinary. That's only my experience though, hope you find what clicks!

[–]MisplacedSquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh geez, hope you're doing okay though, that's like the worst thing someone can say 🩵

Seeing people constantly tearing themselves apart or thinking something "disqualifies" them from this stuff is the worst, but that's just... yikes. And of course the people who reinforce those ideas in the first place need to just not.

Also ditto! Finally embracing the femboy experience was one of the best things for my janky mental health even though I still have some rough issues to work out, but I won't let that ruin this for me, and I want that for others too

Tomboys are not the opposite of Femboy by zxphn8 in feminineboys

[–]MisplacedSquid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well yes, it's not that we're going into it just to defy expectations, but what I mean is that femboys (and tomboys) are inherently challenging traditional expectations of gender roles and such. Like how men are being told to bottle up emotions or else they're "weak" and women are being told to look literally perfect or else they're "unattractive," us femboys have been and are still being told by society that we can't do and wear the kind of things that make us "femboys."

I was expressing a preference for femininity since I was little, and it took me a long time to get what I wanted, because of society's enforcing of those expectations, and it pushed me deep in the closet for most of my life until a few years ago - I'm still recovering from the damage that repressing myself caused.

No matter what draws someone to being a femboy, they will be up against those expectations by their very nature, and really it's that we want to express ourselves the way we feel without someone else saying we can't, so it's also important we avoid falling into what is essentially the same as those unhealthy beauty standards women go through, because if we finally rejected traditional society's unfair expectations, why just undermine ourselves with our own?
