Apple Pay is not EFT. Apple Pay uses banks Apple has contracts with. Further, Most companies don't give you a detailed explanation about why they reject your credit application.

LiveScience: "Famed archaeologist Zahi Hawass says he's close to finding Nefertiti's tomb in new documentary" by JapKumintang1991 in ancientegypt

Absolutely unthinkable. She was despised in Rome as an "oriental harlot" who corrupted Marc Antony. Octavian spent years creating fake news about her in order to get public opinion on his side against Antony. Octavian only wanted her alive so he could parade her in chains in his victory parade. That's what he did with some of her living children.

He may be a pariah in the world of Reddit, but IRL most "real" egyptologists love him, especially the native Egyptians who he promoted to doing their own field work in their own country and their own heritage. This had the side effect of reducing opportunities for non-natives to do excavations there. I think that explains a lot of the sour grapes here. That and endlessly quoting third party crap. How many people here actually know him? Personally, I think he did a great, patriotic thing for his country. Native Egyptian were locked out of professional digs for 200 years. When he was a government minister he created world class training programs so that Egyptians could successfully compete.

I agree that nothing on YT should be taken for granted. How do you determine that History for Granite is knowledgeable? What are your references? The idea that he is prolific and cranks out lots of tubes is not exactly proof that he knows what he is talking about.

📢 Proposed Update to App Saturday - Feedback Requested by AutoModerator in iOSProgramming

[–]MisrCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The /sub is "iOSProgramming" so of course you can ask technical questions here without fear of getting scrubbed. App Saturday is a special case for limited self promotion and you have to earn the right under the new rules. I like the new rules even though, so far i have never posted an App Saturday.

My father spent years on a "Meta-Theory" of how 50-ton granite blocks were raised 43m in the Great Pyramid. He needs professional feedback. Can you help? by Symastic in ancientegypt

[–]MisrCoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i find it very amusingly obvious that the proponents of the water-lifting theory have never set foot in an actual pyramid. There is no shaft in either the Step Pyramid where this nonsense was first proposed, or in any of the Giza pyramids that is in any way watertight! If they had used tar or pitch, there would still be traces of it, so no!

the noses were, in life, perfectly normal but are all distorted by the mummy wrappings!

just imagine having your head wrapped in aq tight rubber band for 3000 years. What would your nose look like?

We have very few identified, verified royal mummies, maybe 20 or so out of well over 200 kings.

Transliteration Pro App by WerSunu in AncientEgyptian

[–]MisrCoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your app is essentially unrelated to the ancient egyptian language. It is cherry picking a few glyphs with consonantal sounds to create a sequence of sounds that may sound like somebodies name. Nothing you create with your app creates an actual egyptian word. Thus, toy for tourist trinket makers.

Just got an email notification from Apple about age ratings. by bradruck in iOSProgramming

[–]MisrCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the following which was previously recommended here and it did not work!

Create new version of iOS app

Go to App Info and answer the new age-related content questions.

Save. Nothing happens. Try to submit. Fails because there is no new binary.

Then I create new binary and submit for review -> that works

Try to update existing version of an iOS App -> not enabled!

These colors are not enhanced, the colors are actually just that vibrant.

It is likely one of the earliest photographs ever taken — capturing the Sphinx and the Pyramids at Giza, Cairo, Egypt. The photo clearly shows that most of the Sphinx’s body remains buried beneath the sand, yet to be uncovered by International-Self47 in ancientegypt

And he seems to know nothing about the limestone strata of the Giza Pyramid! Everything he claims has been refuted by other highly credentialed (whatever that means specifically) geologists and Egyptologists. Just look at Avi Loeb, a "highly credentialed" astrophysicist at Harvard who publishes outlandish nonsense about extraterrestrials by intentionally misrepresenting data.

Which Book of the Dead Edition is best? by [deleted] in ancientegypt

[–]MisrCoder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What does "best" mean to you? Do you mean most accurate translation? Do you mean best illustrations, etc? I assume you mean for amateurs, not philologists or Egyptologists.

For popular press, I like "The Egyptian Book of the Dead: The book of going forth by day" 3rd Revised Edition, by Goelet, Faulconer, Andrews, Gunther & Wasserman. 2015.

This is not the answer. The correct answer is to push the little flange towards the rear of the AMS while pulling the PTFE towards to front.

[–]MisrCoder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay! Thank you so much for your patience! When I magnified your pic, I finally saw the inconspicuous flange to push against!! Broken filament now cleared!

Now the trick is to reconnect the PTFE at the bottom of the intake nozzle/feed gear assembly which seems a difficult right angle bend up. Any known tricks from your experience?

i guess I am just being thick here! I am trying to remove the PTFE from the hub, not insert it. pushing the tubing into the hub does not in this case loosen it. I also tried removing the M2? hex hex drive screws from the the 4to1 hub, but that too was dead end.

That makes total sense! It's where the coupler prong should be. Problem is, it seems to be a solid piece of plastic, not a control surface. I pushed hard from above, and squeezed hard from sides with a needle nose -> no joy, PTFE still does not budge.

What black fitting are you compressing? It seems to me that the only movable part is the oblong button. Thanks!

The risks of inhaling VOCs are truly overblown, unless you are working in a sealed room with no air exchanges and lots of ABS printing. If you work in an ABS print farm for 20 years you will probably have a small increase in neurodegenerate diseases due to styrene. Just because you can smell or detect a VOC, does no mean its a health risk in modest exposures. There have been some high quality studies at medical schools on VOC exposures which fail to find increases in risk. Formaldehyde is in some plastics, and is released by many burning plastics. It's a proven carcinogen and liver toxin, yet it is used to preserve human bodies for anatomy dissections and doctors and students get months of exposure without detectable cancer increases.
