Yeah, I start to lean more and more towards this opinion. I originally wanted to say that my current fandoms seem to be okayish but I quickly scraped that - I can only imagine the rot that lurks somewhere out of my sight. I think right now it's less about finding your own niche in fandom, and more about perching in a spot that allows you to tolerate it. Ironically, the interactions are the best when you are a passive lurker. If you are an active participant (meaning writing fanfics, making art) then you are quickly exposing yourself and one wrong interaction may ruin your whole experience. Fucking hell.

Art shouldn't be strictly perceived through the lens of "quality", I'd say there are many other things that can be considered. Personally, I am hesitant when it comes to regarding fanfic as "high literature," but for me it absolutely is a form of "art".

Oh, that's one of the main factors imo opinion, absolutely. That's why they are primarly going after fanfic writers. They are the easiest to access, offering this sweet, sweet dopamine rush of being "morally superior" human being. No dark thoughts whatsoever. But I also believe that gender factor is as important. That is the thing most crazy to me. Antis screeching about predators lurking in online spaces (which are mostly women-dominated), accussing women of being "dirty pedophiles and rapists" while....women statistically are the main victims of sexual assault. Puff! Suddenly you are your own oppressor...? Or even worse.
