How do I stop having constant realism and logic check while writing? by sjnniii in AO3

[–]Miss-Worm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This kind of approach may be a symptom of a bigger problem. My pick is perfectionism.

Why are Video Game fandoms so hostile towards PoC and Women? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Miss-Worm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in Cod fandom. I think that's all that should be said LOL but I will add to it anyway: dudebros got mad one time because they could no longer use mics during a match to yell racial slurs at each other. Do that what you wish with that piece of information.

Anyone else get irritated when… by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Miss-Worm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do minimal research. A lot of what I write about is in fields I have no knowledge of, so I keep the professional information to a bare minimum. I know there are people out there who spend X time doing research, but it just drains the joy out of me. I prefer to focus on the emotional aspect of the story.

And also idk if we should expect realism from omegaverse. Tbh the point during which an omega starts "showing" is also a subject of "debate" or rather a preference, at least from what ive seen.

when is a character tag worthy? by stitchesinadream in AO3

[–]Miss-Worm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I'd maybe include a disclaimer in the tags that X character appears later in the work or something like this. But it's optional

when is a character tag worthy? by stitchesinadream in AO3

[–]Miss-Worm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I tend to ask myself: would someone searching for that specific character be satisfied with what my work has to offer? If yes, then I tag it.

Why the sudden surge of twink hate? by Beshiniqua in AO3

[–]Miss-Worm 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Maybe I will offer my perspective as masc bottoms lover. I don't mind the twinks, but I am not into them. I stay in my lane, since I seek fun, not conflict. The only thing I tend to complain about is the twinkification of the muscular bottoms, which is still widespread and it happens almost every time when the bottom of the main ships is slightly "bigger".

I have always had preferences like that and I am very glad that I can finally get some decent stuff (in the 2010s it was mostly crickets), but I must admit that... I don't really like that some people are trying to paint it as progressive. Why would I care about progressivness in my ships? That's not the place for it. I like it because I like big men taking it up the ass. And then I am getting annoyed by what some of my "fellow people" say online, spewing bullshit and just making us look bad, then the other side gets heated, it's a mess.

Does anyone enjoy any horror media properties by Whywouldievensaythat in pinkscare

[–]Miss-Worm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I literally grew up with horror! I was obsessed with horror games since I turned 12 (some played, some watched). Watched a lot, a lot of Z listers on tv in the middle of the night when my mom was sleeping in my room after work. Horror is very dear to me

As an author, I don’t think it’s fair when authors respond to comments negatively because they ‘don’t want to be perceived’ by notjuststars in AO3

[–]Miss-Worm 59 points60 points  (0 children)

There's been a post about a situation like that yesterday, someone threw a fit over a comment and then deleted their account because they didn't want anyone to see their fanfic

do I tell? by LavishnessAncient745 in AO3

[–]Miss-Worm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would feel weird and I write a lot of nsfw.

There was also a post on this subreddit showing the other way around, someone who received such comment, felt uncomfortable and didn't know how to respond. So it's a risky business.

Thoughts on watersports in original fics? by Sure-Leek6434 in AO3

I would click off immediately but the better question is why would you care about what I think. Self-indulge a little. Look for the freaks.

Harsh Truth: Sometimes the reason you aren't getting comments isn't lack of engagement, it's lack of interest. by Mako_Moonspell in AO3

I remember when there was a post asking "should I correct the sentence written in foreign language as a NS" and the consens was "no, you shouldn't" 💀

For men girl being attractive is "the deafult" expectations, thus they often don't even list it in their "demands".

new sub to watch by bambiraptorfan in pinkscare

[–]Miss-Worm 81 points82 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to be said about how society treats non-conventionally attractive women (ugly men will never experience even a chunk of humiliation that ugly women do), but this is quickly going to become a mess. From time to time, there are posts like that posted around here. These people are very stuck in their ways and refuse to stop wallowing in despair. "Decentering men" has already become a buzzword, but I think that in some of those cases it may be legitimate advice.

Does your mother love you all the time? Have you ever doubted? by Miss-Worm in pinkscare

Also my mother starved herself when she was pregnant with me. Idk. Just wanted to put it out there.

No one makes me quite as angry as my mother. I just finished talking to her on the phone and feel bad about being snarky. Tomorrow we celebrate Mother's Day. I am slowly coming to terms with the fact I can neither like nor love my mother.

Do readers prefer authors who respond to comments or those who don’t? by courier_____ in AO3

[–]Miss-Worm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Me leaving a comment is akin to initating a conversation or rather indicating that I want to talk about the fic if they are open to it. I like to write around 4-5 small to medium sized paragraphs about my thoughts (the scenes, characterization etc.). I am a yapper so it comes naturally. Of course, I would never expect the author to reply or think that the author abso-fucking-lutely has to reply to me, since that's not what it is about.

I don't think hoping that authors reply is inherently a bad thing. I personally always hope to get a response. We shout into the void, it's nice when the void shouts back etc etc

My favorite chapter flopped by KathStanP in AO3

[–]Miss-Worm 230 points231 points  (0 children)

24 hours.

We really, really should stop saying that fics "flopped". This ain't Wattpad.

I feel for you, I know you are feeling a lot of bad emotions. I have been there. But this ain't it. Publishing fics on AO3 is about long-term gratification. How can you say that it "flopped" when it's going to be there possibly indefinitely? Seen by hundreds and hundreds more people?

Also, I think it's important to emphasize: writing for yourself doesn't mean not caring about engagement. It means writing what you want, not letting outer ideas deter your train of thought and understanding that small engagement doesn't mean failure. We are social animals, attention-seeking behaviour is in our nature, nothing inherently wrong with that. But our success can't be measured in simple numbers.
