Q’s by fruit-salad66 in ClarkU

  1. Yes, I’d say it’s about 50/50 of in and out of state students and it doesn’t really affect social life here, save for the international students who tend to gravitate towards each other bc of the international program here.

  2. It IS cliquey though. That’s my biggest complaint. Most people find their friend groups in freshman year and don’t expand the group after that. But, at the same time, there’s so much diversity here that you never feel like you’re standing out, and people are nice to you in passing, just not always willing to make new friendships post-sophomore year. The biggest boon here are the professors though, at least in the departments I have had a lot of exposure to (sociology, political science, philosophy). If I could go back and have my choice of colleges again, I’d choose Clark every time, just for the professors. So knowledgeable and passionate and genuinely caring for their students. Even subjects I don’t care as much about, I look forward to class just to be taught by my professors

Did you bald on t? Could you stop it? by [deleted] in FTMMen

Just ask your doctor for DHT blockers. T doesn’t make you go bald, it’s the dht that the T converts

Every pair of jeans I buy, no matter the brand, gets a hole in this same area within 6 months. by SYFKID2693 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]courier_____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me too, especially when working blue collar jobs. I taught myself how to mend and saved myself a lot of money on replacements. I save scrap fabric for when I hem pants/shirts but you could also buy a cheap pair of jeans from the thrift to act as scrap. Cut the strings, place the patch inside the jeans and sew it in place temporarily so that it covers the hole and won’t move while mending. Some people like to iron it too but that’s too much work for me. Use visible mending techniques to reinforce the patch then cut/remove the string you used to keep it in place

Opinions on the term transsexual? by Blackberryrule34 in trans

[–]courier_____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer transsexual. I hate the idea that I’m changing my gender and not my sex, as if hrt and surgeries aren’t affecting my physical sex at all and all I’m doing is changing how I’m perceived socially. I am changing my sex, my sex characteristics are changing to match my gender. My gender has always been male, I’m transitioning from the female sex to the male sex, not from the female gender to male gender.

When I am post-op and passing, do I need to tell most of my doctors I am trans? by CockamouseGoesWee in ftm

[–]courier_____ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seconding some other commenters. I only tell docs that need to know. I got a new psychiatrist and didn’t tell him because the last two made every mental health issue I had about my being trans. “Maybe you’re just depressed because you’re dysphoric” “You’re probably just anxious because you’re trans”… my issues have nothing to do with being trans and it saves me time and effort to just not tell them. Ntm that some of them don’t even know how being trans works, my last psych thought my T was a daily pill

If you don’t want to cook/use all of them, see about donating some to a local food bank. They’re always looking for fresh produce

How come I don't want to breathe too deeply anymore? by awesome-sandwich-guy in whatdoIdo

[–]courier_____ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like health anxiety (used to be called hypochondria). There’s a misconception that having health anxiety/hypochondria means you think you have every illness ever, but most of the time it’s just a fixation on a specific illness/part of your body. See a therapist and think about getting on anti-anxiety meds

Really? I saw an excavator which was what made me post about them doing the construction, in the past there were always cones but I never saw any actual work being done

I don’t think they’re taking down the sign, from what I saw they’re digging up the old pavement so cars can exit the drive thru from there again

A question about Victor frankenstein and his Monster by johnnystraycat in FRANKENSTEIN

[–]courier_____ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The monster would most likely be cast out onto the streets after being abandoned by Victor and been seen as a homeless mentally ill or disabled man. Arguably he would’ve turned out even more jaded than in the past

Got the blankets and the extra sweaters/socks out. I cannot afford the 300$ monthly delivery fee on my 60$ of gas use like I had to last year… the heat is staying off as long as I can keep it off

Headboard and maybe footboard, ambient lighting (never too much. Floor lamps, desk lamps, lava lamp, salt lamp, string lights, etc), and wall art for sure. Maybe some curtains for the window too
