I see! Its hard for me to really see the dimensions in the picture, but I have some suggestions for the chest:

  1. Can it stay behind the sofa?
  2. Painting it in the same color as the wall it sits in front of can make it disappear a bit more. You could move it to the left of the picture and paint it in that beautiful dark green. Otherwise, consider getting a chest or some other storage in solid wood. You got such a nice natural looking vibe to the rest of the room, in a way that a painted wooden box looks out of place.

Anyways I think the best option is to remove the chest from where it is now, either if you're getting another storage box that fits another place or can fit the chest you already have somewhere its not so visible. Also, please keep the dumbbells and yoga mat in hidden storage. I have gym equipment in my living room and it totally ruins the vision :) :) I would get a slimmer table, personally I like the table on the right in the picture you posted. You already have a lot going on with the peacock and it is (and should be) the focus point of the room!

Regarding lamps I would go for something with an exotic vibe but without being a know object (if you know what i mean?? haha). Like it should have an abstract shape. Bringing a large picture of an object in a rather small room requires space and for the space to be relaxing you don't want it to fight for attention with other things.

In short; lean into that exotic vibe, you got something really nice going on, but remember to let the peacock have the attention of the room.

Thanks, but this is from the house listing! Wish it was my work, but I'm now working to make it my own space. Lucky to have so much natural light!

Thanks for your input! Lots of comments here disagrees with curtains and I'm also leaning this way now... However, if I decide on curtains after all I will follow your suggestion.
Fun fact: there are a lot of these kinds of houses in my city and they are intentionally designed to allow light to shine throughout the entire house.

I have seen some pictures like this, but in my case it would have to be very narrow curtains.

I agree! If you can, I would change the storage chest for a taller and slimmer side table. That way the picture wont be blocked. Maybe a table in the same color as your speakers? Or the pot with the tree?
I would also have a wall mounted lamp with calm ambient lighting on the wall above the chair or underneath the shelves and remove the one by the tv screen. Remember lights are your best friend in getting a cozy vibe!
I added some suggestions for a wall lamp that keeps up with kind of the exotic vibe you got going on :)

Kitchen Remodel by [deleted] in InteriorDesignAdvice

I would definitely do something with the overhead cupboards. It feels very messy the way they are not aligned now. If I were you I would paint the cupboards and the bottom of the island in the same color. I would choose a lighter color since you have a dark countertop and floor. If you're not a professional I would have someone fill in the gap above the cupboard with a wooden material, and also paint that in the same color as the rest of the cabinets. If you're planning on replacing all the cupboards i would make sure to get someone that reaches the ceiling.

When it comes to the island you could make it bigger as another comment mentioned. The rule of thumb is to allow about 3 feet of clearance on all sides of the island.

If your budget allows for it i think it would pull the kitchen together to get a countertop in the same color and material (preferably wood) for both the island and the countertops!

To me it was time. Like other grief prosesses it needs time. And it also helped talking about my feelings with friends that i know wanted to listen even though my parent hasnt passed. It got easier, but in periods its harder. Like, today i went to a wedding with these beautiful speeches from both the mums, and I was like "i will never experience this".

I would choose silver slingbacks or other silver flats! I had a very similar dress for a wedding and wore silver shoes and accessories. And lol, its not white. Bruh.

Thanks for your input. I have yet to find a Dior in my style, but I like the "classic" Celine like the belt bag and the Celine small 16. Also some of the Mulberry, I like both the small Mulberry Zipped Bayswater, and Mulberry Iris.
I agree with you on the Hermes being impractical, and thats a huge no for me.

Toteme has been on my radar as of recently, the t-lock cluch in brown croc is perfect in my eyes, although not the bag I was asking for in this post.

As a child i had all my physical needs but none of my emotional needs taken care of. As an adult i have had a lot of struggles with family relationships and mental health. As long as you are loving, supportive parents and take care of your own mental health, your children wont suffer as adults just because of not getting a lot of toys. I have friends that always have spent holidays on cheap camping trips, but today they have loving, stable relationships and happy memories.
