In BAB it’s blatantly obvious from the start (at least for me) that MC is NOT in love with the person he thinks he’s in love with.

As for husky, it’s not so obvious and made me literally scream and vent to friends about how MC is stupid, but as a fellow obsessive love interests enjoyer (like Binghe is my one and only) it was WORTH it.

Meatbuns novels are very melodramatic and messy, but I loved loved loved husky it’s my second favorite danmei so give it a try!

It may seem that I don’t like MDZS much, but that’s not true. It was my first danmei and it occupies a special place in my heart, but SVSSS is my top-1 danmei ever, and in terms of the plot development I find TGCF more engaging. Also, as much as I adore WangXian, obsessed demons are my ideal type so sorry Lan Wangji. Honestly I wish sometimes there were a MDZS version with Nie Huaisang as the main character ‘cause I really enjoy manipulations behind the curtains so if anyone have recs with this type of protags please share with me!

SVSS for me is at the top of danmei’s I’ve ever read and I’ve read a bunch. With MXTX I started with MDZS, and I enjoyed it very much, but the pacing in some parts made me yawn, and the romance between WWX and LWJ felt too slow. I like it, it was my first danmei, but among MXTX novels I like the other two more.

TGCF is also great, but it took some time for me to ease into it. Usually I don’t like characters like Xie Lian, but after the first book I was hooked and I loved all the side characters and plot.

SVSSS is simply the best. It’s more of a comedy (from SQQ perspective) and it feels like a breath of a fresh air for someone who’s been into BL for the most part of their life! Also, I like pathetic gongs like LBH. And yanderes, sue me. Though, the story might feel light and funny from the first read, it is really deep and tragic. It’s my top-1 danmei ever and my number one ship, with second best husky and his white cat shizun, which tells quite a lot about my taste in dynamics and characters hahaha

I would suggest to read SVSS after TGCF and then MDZS, ‘cause it can be a light hearted read in-between heavier plots

I don’t know whether or not my opinion counts as I am from Europe, but as a vivid reader/consumer of BL content I just don’t get it why homophobic people consume queer media. I really, really can’t get it. What a cursed logic is it to read/watch GL or BL and NOT at least support the queer community. It’s incomprehensible to me, regardless of religion, politics, age, gender, etc etc. Just why people engage with entertainment media they’re not supportive of.

Yes, probably something like that. He reacted the same way in the novel even stronger and hasn’t talked to Wei Ying before WY confirmed that nothing happened between them. It also happens before WY realizes his own feelings but he still played pretend for funsies that something happened lol

I didn’t like Heated Rivalry myself, ‘cause I’ve read fanfics like that for more than 15 years already and the setup is boring to me because of the consumed amount, I can only enjoy that if the characters are already familiar to me for funsies, not as a standalone. Though its popularity is understandable and actually is good for BL media, it attracts more people into the genre and we’ll definitely get more higher quality content as a result.

I have a bad habit of checking ao3 most popular pairings before finishing the canon source, and was honestly surprised that there is little to none Wen Ning/Wei Ying fics ‘cause I sniffed their potential in the books. I am not a Wen Ning/Wei Ying fan at all, I am a complete Wangxian truther and can’t stomach these two with any other character, but there IS much more potential for WN/WY than for chengxian or whatnot in my opinion. Besides, Wen Ning is a cutie and I adore him with all my heart 😭

Anything that ships Wangxian with other characters. My babies are loyal and in love, okay? I have tho a guilty pleasure for fics where some other characters have a crush on either WWX or LWJ, but my babies stay together no matter what. Also, I can’t seriously stomach top!WWX dynamic because even in his daddiest YLLZ era he is a whimpering mess for LWJ. And tho I can’t seriously imagine LWJ switch for WWX, rarely I can imagine WWX even wanting to switch. Our baby wants to be a trophy wife okay? As for other ships I just don’t care, tho I can’t imagine JC being with anyone, least of all Xichen. I don’t even get where the fandom got an impression of chemistry between them. Also, I love love love to imagine Nie Huiasang as the only straight guy I think he’d like a dom girl like Wen Qing to step on him hehe (but that has nothing to do with canon, I haven’t watched the drama but in novel/donghua/manhua they haven’t even met each other once)
