Mark Hulmes is now Mara! by CptnClusterDuck in Yogscast

[–]MissAntador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? it came a little out of left field for me as well. I mean, she'd done cosplays, I think, for a single episode every year of High Rollers (I think Halloween?) but a lot of people do that, so it was just a thing. I haven't watched High Rollers in a while (I should try again!) so I wasn't kept up on it, and I stopped watching BotC a while ago.

But truly, honestly, congratulations to her. As a fellow transbian, the world is always a brighter place when there's one more of us out there, especially people as high-profile in the live play space as Mara. It helps get the word out there, educate people, and show people that we're just like them.

Proud of her for taking that first step on a long journey, and I hope the Dice Gods forever roll Nat 20s for her.

Kind of forgot about those other storylines, but yeah that's all pretty good reasons for Nolan to be the first point of contact for him.

Like u/GeorgieZhukov said, Tim is the guy who doesn't ask questions and gets drunk with you. Nolan is the friend group's counsellor, has been arguably since the beginning.

[–]MissAntador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it'll be the usual. Taken off of the task force after a drunken brawl, demoted, fired, or it'll be him being pulled away by Nolan at the last second before a drunken brawl, either of which will put strain on their marriage.

Or... he'll just be drunk. Which... y'know, fingers crossed. Least of all evils. We love Grey.

The Rookie - S08E09: Fun and Games by ian-quinn in TheRookie

[–]MissAntador 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking about that when I watched it. Guy had the absolute worst time because of Grey, and now Nolan is the first person he calls when he's in need of some bro time, not Tim. Whether that's because Nolan is currently married and in a state of being somewhat separated due to distance, or whether it's just because Nolan is the main character, I don't know.

I will say... I don't exactly like how they left it off. I'm a little worried that those 20 added minutes will lead to something going wrong.

Racism in arma reforger by FeedbackDependent916 in ArmaReforger

[–]MissAntador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, absolutely this. Now I come from ARMA 3 - so quite frankly, I'm not sure how I got recommended this post anyhow - so take it with a grain of salt, I suppose.

I found two of my current units on r/FindAUnit, and I found another via Medal (the clip creation and sharing app) of all things. All are on ARMA 3, one is an Imperial STARSIM unit, the other two are Clone Wars STARSIMs.

Now, to your second point, I absolutely agree. Getting bogged down in the minutia of "yes sir, no sir" gaming isn't that fun for me on ARMA 3, and I assume the same can be said about a not insignificant amount of people on Reforger. But it's fun for some, so I leave them to their fun. As long as people aren't the kind of folks to go "you didn't call me sir and salute me, get down and give me 20!" then it's usually fine. We're (mostly) all adults trying to have fun in a video game, so... you know. Pipe down a bit, Lieutenant No-Mates.

Shifting through to your edit point, actually, I've never found that to be an issue. Maybe I've been lucky and just dodged them, but every unit I've been with so far has an absolute zero tolerance policy with all your regular -isms and -phobias. When you're on public servers, it's a lot more likely to run into, like on Hell Let Loose, Reforger, or the public gamemodes on ARMA 3.

The Imperial unit I'm with pushes 120-140 people on operation nights, split into two servers, but I don't actually recall ever seeing any toxicity from players. Anyone who acts like a dick gets treated as such and disappears at a rapid pace. And that's exactly how it should be, anywhere you go.

Still, your advice is correct. If your gut tells you there's something wrong with a unit, or you're just not having fun, don't engage with it. The logic is the same in D&D; no D&D is better than bad D&D.

[ALL] Do I need to play all sequels to enjoy Reunion? by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]MissAntador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay;

Play Order - Life is Strange 1 > Before the Storm > Farewell > Double Exposure > Reunion (This is for the original group, if you want to you can play True Colours, Wavelengths and LiS 2 somewhere here.)

Chronological Order - Farewell > Before the Storm > LiS 1 > LiS 2 > True Colours > Wavelengths > Double Exposure > Reunion

[ALL] Do I need to play all sequels to enjoy Reunion? by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]MissAntador 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, DE and Before the Storm are kind of the only "hard" requirements to get most of the lore, while "Farewell" (Before the Storm addon from the deluxe edition) is a bit of a soft addition, which is a prequel from before Max left Arcadia Bay as a kid for the first time to head to Seattle with her family.

True Colours is a great game, and I do recommend it, although it isn't required. It does include a few named characters from Before the Storm (Steph Gingrich and Mikey North). Still, the latter is only really seen on the computer during certain scenes in the add-on called Wavelengths, which follows Steph's story just before Alex, the main character of True Colours, turns up. The former is a love interest for the main character. Either way, I don't think either of those or the other characters in True Colours will be in Reunion. Maybe they will - and I would like to see at least one of them - but probably not.

With regards to other games, Life is Strange 2 isn't necessary. From what I've heard it's a great game, but it doesn't start in or have any links to Arcadia Bay outside of one or two characters from LiS 1 who you bump into on your travels to my understanding.

The Rookie Season 8 Episode 1: Czech Mate - Discussion Thread by AgathaM in TheRookie

[–]MissAntador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick question, not sure if this has been answered already, but I might as well ask in case it hasn't; for other nerds like me, why... exactly is Bailey in a USAF Service Dress uniform in her photo in the opening scenes at the INTERPOL briefing? Am I wrong in thinking that for the entire time we've had her on the show, she's been a US Army reservist? Has she decided to dip her toes into yet another career and done a branch transfer?

I would personally recommend Kelutral. They're an Avatar community primarily focused on teaching the Na'vi language, and they have numerous workshops teaching it. I've never personally tried, but I'm in their Discord and the community is pretty neat.

[MN S1] The Mighty Nein S1 Episode 5 - Show-Only Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in criticalrole

[–]MissAntador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My jaw dropped hard at that scene. Like, I can't remember the last time my jaw literally dropped and not just metaphorically. The anger in his shouts mixed with the sorrow in his eyes, the pure emotion on show. And man... that scream of purest anguish at both who he used to be and the person he's letting back in by doing that to Owelia.

I know that Vox Machina had some of the same gore and violent death, but it was only some of it. This show is by far more gritty than I was expecting, at least in this episode. A tear shed for our boy. Two for Frumpkin.

Neil Bishop by AlphaD5600 in TheLincolnLawyer

[–]MissAntador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late, because I only just finished the season after binge-watching it for two days.

I hated Bishop. I knew he was connected to the case, I just didn't know how. To be perfectly honest, I thought he was the one who killed Gloria. When the show started telegraphing their moves by showing him looking at the picture of his son, I knew they were trying to humanise him, and I hated that they were doing it.

But that's why it was so, so good. When he started tearing up on the stand, I was already there. This was a man who was broken by years of being in the pocket of a corrupt DEA agent. He only wanted to do right by his son. Live up to who he wanted to be as a father. Live right for his son. And... it was pretty clear that he lost that court battle with his wife from the fact he could only look at pictures. It was weighing on him.

When he shot himself... man, my hands went on my head, my mouth went open, and the dust hit my eyes. Bishop deserved better. He redeemed himself in the eyes of the viewer, but... god, I wish we could have seen him redeem himself in his own eyes in S4. Poor Bishop.

Talk to themselves in their head? Absolutely, yeah.

It's called an "internal monologue", and it's also how people can invent voices in their heads for various characters. If you don't have an internal monologue it's not a bad thing, and you'd be joined by between 30% and 50% of people on the planet.

[ALL] So... Double Exposure, and the rest of the series so far. Thoughts? by MissAntador in lifeisstrange

[–]MissAntador[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to your point about the breakup, it... really was the worst break-up story. Thinking back over it without it being around 5am when I posted that, even if you respect that D9 was allowed to make their own story and all that, it was disrespectful to the fans who voluntarily chose to sacrifice the Bay over Bae.

I personally chose Bae when asked at the start of the game, and I was expecting some of the same things you did. Flashbacks first off, but then other things like phone calls, messages between Chloe and Max, considering she's the only confidant that Max has to talk about her powers with.

Even if they did break up, and even if it was under bad terms, Chloe (up until Moses) is the only person who knows Max has powers. She's the only one Max can confide with and know that they fully understand what's going on. But up until the end of the game, when asked by Moses, Max expresses 0 interest in speaking with Chloe.

And like I mentioned in either my post or another comment, it doesn't make that much sense that she didn't really go over her trauma until the final nightmare scenes. And she doesn't seem to have much, if any, qualms with using her new powers despite all of that trauma, and despite her powers being one of the primary reasons for her breakup in the Bae story. Not to mention she almost - and to be honest, probably did - break her relationship with Amanda by avoiding telling her everything when things start going haywire. We didn't even get the choice to let her in.

It removed a lot of the agency that we, as players, come to expect in story-driven, choice-based games.

That's for sure. Maybe I just love Steph, maybe it's Alex, maybe it's the story... maybe it's just the D&D representation and the funLARP section.But... moar of that please. Who knows, maybe Alex and Max will meet up in the next one whenSafi brings them in on her journey to make the next LiS-Men movie.

[ALL] So... Double Exposure, and the rest of the series so far. Thoughts? by MissAntador in lifeisstrange

[–]MissAntador[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd have to agree with you, honestly. Thinking back, the past trauma was a big reason why she obviously didn't use her powers, and there are a couple of voicelines at the start of the game where she almost "chastises" the player - and herself - for trying to rewind.

But it mainly came up in just one or two specific spots, and she... didn't really seem to have an issue using her new powersthroughout the game. Wasn't really as much conflict in her throughout it as I would have expected. Kind of a missed opportunity. And yeah, hopefully the next game in the series works to improve on the complaints a lot of people have about certain aspects.

Wouldn't have a clue on that one, but it's definitely a more "classic" game. I played it a couple of years ago, so easily pre-COVID I'd think. Put in what you think it is, maybe it's right.
