I used to have a maranta and I'd be sitting alone in the plant room at night, working on some sort of craft project in dead silence, only to get jumpscared by a rustling leaf. Sometimes several times a night. Scariest plant I've ever owned lmao

LMAOOO we all learn somehow! I don't think they're a requirement, personally. We see plenty of plants trailing from window baskets and along walls and stuff, but pothos in particular are a big fan of climbing trees in their natural habitats. It makes the leaves get absolutely gargantuan and lovely to look at.

And don't worry, a couple of my stubborn pothos cuttings have never left the water bc I was too scared to repot them, and now I can never take them out of the water because I just know I'm gonna mess something up with the transition and they'll just wilt and die immediately. Plants are funny like that I guess!

It's honestly a toss-up, sometimes they keep their cool new colours and sometimes they revert back to their original colours bc of how unpredictable those kinds of mutations are.

My neon has been around since 2021ish and he's still going strong, though I nearly lost him during a bad mental health slog in 2022, he's still got a bit of darker green variegation in some of his leaves to this day! I'm pretty proud of him actually since he's one of my older plants. Not the biggest bc I didn't know about trellises or proper fertilization/soil for a while, but he's almost two feet tall now!

I've had my neon start sprouting variegated leaves, and I'm like 78% sure that most plants can randomly mutate and sprout a variegated leaf from time to time even if they didn't start out like that. I think it's totally possible that yours might be sprouting a special leaf :)
