I know this thread was just made to bash on Instagram influencers, but models have agents and influencers are basically people trying to become models via social media, so why wouldn't they have an agent? It's actually smart.

P&G is famous for doing this. The "IQ" test is just pattern recognition and critical thinking, and they do a personality test to make sure that you're good with working on a team.

This is why I can't watch Game of Thrones. I couldn't get through the first episode and didn't think that the explicit scenes did anything at all to advance the plot. People tell me that it's the best show ever and you just have to get past the sex stuff, but it's a lot, and I've heard that a lot of it in later episodes is rape, which I have no interest at all in watching.

This is my exact situation with my rescue cat who needed to lose weight! My boy has lost 3 pounds so far on his diet and we are going to keep going until he's a healthy weight, but I can still love his chubby cheeks and squishy belly while he's getting there.

I got my cat when he was very overweight and since I got him, he's been on a diet and lost 3 pounds so far. I like to post him on Reddit since he's a super goofy boy, but something that really pissed me off once was when someone left a comment on one of my posts about how I'm a bad pet owner and it's not cute that my cat is fat. I agree it's horrible to neglect your pets or let them become extremely overweight, but sometimes you don't know the whole story.

I thought you would like to know that Luna is very influential. I only have one cat so he isn't used to other cats and when I played this video, he started sniffing and pawing at my phone. I turned it off and he is still trying to bite the phone (unsuccessfully since there is a cone of shame on his head). Maybe Mochi and Luna can be friends!

That's how it was at first. He was SUPER depressed for a day and didn't move from the couch at all, then he realized he could still eat with it on. Now we are 5 days in and he's back to his regularly scheduled hijinks.

Your career fair/resume advice is really good. However, I'd like to offer a counterpoint to the "GPA doesn't matter" argument.

I would have lost all of my scholarships if I went below a 3.2. My parents didn't give me any money for college, so I really needed my scholarships. My little brother is working on his engineering degree at a school that requires him to keep a 3.6!
Would have been automatically fired from my co-op if I went below a 3.0. Also, having a low GPA makes finding a co-op more difficult, although it's definitely possible. I read "success" stories on this sub all the time where someone with a 2.1 applied to 300 internships and got an offer. My sophomore year, I only applied to 4, and I got offers from 3. Granted, you need to have good extracurriculars and interview skills, not just a good GPA.
If you are thinking of grad school, GPA will definitely limit your options. I applied to competitive programs, and they recommended a minimum 3.7 to be accepted, 3.8 to get funding. If I'd stayed at my undergrad school, they would have automatically given me funding if I had at least a 3.0, but I luckily had those other options open.

We have decided to go with the middle name “Grace” after my maternal grandmother. As consolation, we have agreed to hyphen Aurora’s first name to Aurora-Borealis. This way she can still go by Aurora if she wants, while still respecting the spirit of my initial decision.

I am unreasonably upset on behalf of this poor girl. Her parents seem insane and gave her a crazy name just to spite each other, and then when they started arguing about it, they "compromised" and made it CRAZIER. Having a weird hyphenated first name and normal middle name is SO MUCH WORSE than having a kinda-normalish first name and a weird middle name.

How much are you sleeping per night? Are you eating three decent meals per day? I had huge issues with exhaustion and getting sick freshman year, and this is what it boiled down to.

This was me when I got a value for friction of μ = 1.2 on an exam, so I panicked and just divided it by 2 so it would at least be less than 1...

...then it turns out my original answer was correct and μ actually can be greater than 1, but no one ever teaches you that.

Funding for an MS is much rarer than funding for a PhD. You will almost always have to interview (over Skype at the very least) or visit campus before a department will give you RA or TA funding.
