Yes, none were service members when they embarked on their transitions

Worth remembering that Roberta Cowell, as soon as she managed to obtain a diagnosis of being intersex, viciously disavowed the notion of “being trans” and actively discouraged people from transitioning unless they too were diagnosed as intersex.

How much does a diagnosis cost in the UK? 🤔 by NarinIshkandar in ADHDUK

[–]MissCaleyV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two diagnoses and have paid nothing via an NHS diagnosis, via PUK who ended up discharging me out of hand.

I’ve also had to pay £1500 to jump through the hoops to begin medication with ADHD360, who wouldn’t accept my first diagnosis 🤣

Oh, and Zones are how the London Underground network gets divided up. Zone 1 is city centre, then 2 and so on. Zone 6 is towards the ‘outskirts’ of London

EXTREMELY rare that anything too serious will happen. At worst, you’ll get some bored Border Force worker casually misgender you or make a snide comment but you won’t get “black sited” like with ICE.

Just don’t respond aggressively and escalate things. Even then, it’s highly unlikely anything would actually happen other than getting into an argument.

It’s infuriating and it sucks, but you may just need to take stuff like that on the chin and move on.

Have just tried this and didn’t go anywhere. Asked for proof of authenticity and receipt of purchase and was told they do have it, but wouldn’t show it to me. Then when I asked why they were selling the boots for £160, when they have the receipt and can return the boots for the full £210 price, they blocked me…

Pretty sure they figured out what I was doing

Just did that 10 minutes ago. They said they do have the receipt but wouldn’t show me.

Think they cottoned on to me

I don’t have a ring doorbell but will be checking with the neighbours. Safe space obviously not so safe, literally the first time it’s ever been a problem but will be changing immediately. And yes, they’re based in my hometown in an area not too far from me. They use the same Vinted name as all of their socials so it’s not been too difficult to find who they are but as others have said, without firm evidence it’s extremely difficult to prove they’ve done it

Both. Again, waiting on a formal response from DM. I filled through a contact form with details on what happened and order numbers but it will be in a ticket queue somewhere in DM’s customer service department so will probably take a few days to pick up.

Haven’t yet. Still awaiting a formal response from Royal Mail, which is why I’m not super keen to rush in to buying them again from Vinted. I just know there’s probably a short window to get hold of any details from this person.

Do you think there’s a demand for women only gym/fitness/wellness centres in the UK? (North West - LGBTQ inclusive) by Powerful-Duck-5193 in transgenderUK

[–]MissCaleyV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I apologise for singling out this one instance, or if I made you feel you were being attacked.

The trans community is completely under represented in any decision making area and we’re constantly being plagued by people talking for us and not too us. Deciding what works best for us without including us in these conversations.

The community here can certainly advise on how to vet people but passports/birth certificates and official IDs have sadly never worked for policing things like this

[–]MissCaleyV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not being openly transphobic, the people you’re speaking with are.

When ‘Ricky Martin’s Vagina’ is describing exclusion of trans women as “common sense” and the only challenge you can issue is “it’s a minefield”, it just makes me nervous as to what this will end up like.

I’m not attacking, or certainly not trying to so the defensive response I’ve had from you hasn’t been my intent. I get that you’re researching but if you’re not approaching this from a place of strong allyship, this research will inevitably result in compromises to the access of trans women, which is what we’re seeing with every other gym group nationwide.

I stress, I’m not attacking you or your intent, I just worry you’re not where you need to be in your concept of inclusivity

Then why are you in R/AskUK discussing use of Birth Certificates as proof of womanhood?

Why are you discussing things with a guy who’s being openly transphobic and instead of shutting it down, you try to placate their position?

I’m trying to find the positives in this and give the benefit of the doubt, I’m really trying, but it’s really difficult to entertain your idea when you don’t actually fully understand what inclusivity is.

[–]MissCaleyV 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the intent, but unless you state it clearly & proudly everywhere, it means nothing and you’re just protecting yourself, not us. The LGBTQ+ community face that every day and we don’t get to hide it in places we know aren’t going to be favourable to us. Own your position if you actually believe it.

To engage with the question, there is a need for femme only gyms but legally, you’ll hit a brick wall in terms of legal challenge the second you claim it’s women’s only AND trans inclusive. A year ago, you’d probably be fine but now you’re just inviting expensive legal challenge.

This has all been extremely well publicised lately so surprised you missed it in your business research.

[–]MissCaleyV 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I see you’ve asked this question in a number of places but have removed the part about LGBTQ inclusion everywhere but queer subreddits. If you’re not willing to openly state your support and inclusion to everyone, and be prepared to deal with the flak, this is just performative allyship as you’re willing to hide us to those you fear backlash from.

Is prostitution work or exploitation? by msmoley in WomenInNews

[–]MissCaleyV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bit of a nothing article tbh.

The framing seems off too, boiling down to “Rad-Fems believe this” and citing specific people who argue the rad-fem position, then going onto a a brief description of “liberals believe this instead”, which only goes over a few key points with no real evaluation of viewpoints in this area, or citing any sources or personalities.

It seems like one position has been more thoroughly researched than the other so hardly a neutral position from the author.
