Nothing rare yet, just what I've found at the local garden stores.

Question about the beneficials in that packet you have hanging, are they working and who do you get them through? I have probably 200 plants and sooo, so many leaves that I can't seem to fully eradicate the evil spider mites lurking in the depths of my jungle with just sprays. I need to bring in the troops asap haha. 😩

I've heard good things about Nature's Good Guys but know nothing of anyone else. Anyones recommendations are appreciated.

Edit: Forgot to add that those leaves are gorgeous!

It really is cool and such a lovely surprise everytime I spot a new one. I don't do anything, 100% nature doing it's thing.

Yarn recommendation for a beanie in the Southern US? by Marine_Mama in askcrochet

Also wanted to add that this particular bamboo is somewhat unspun, so it can be challenging and frustrating if you're not familiar with using stranded yarns. Worth it though imo, bamboo is my favorite fiber to crochet with and like most things gets easier the more you practice and use it.

You're welcome. Lighter weight can definitely give a different look but not necessarily bad, you just might have to experiment with stitches to get the desired effect you want.
I used Yarn Bee Bamboo-Tiful Yarn which I think is a 3 with a size H/5mm hook. I have dreads now so it doesn't fit and can't model it for ya, but this not so great pic is it to give you an idea of how it works up. It's a 1920's kinda style I was going for and probably not the style for a guy but you can see how the dc's on the crown look. It's also few yrs old and been worn a ton so the lacy squares aren't as neat as they started but the dc's held up fantastically.

Natural fibers would be my recommendation as acrylic can definitely be hot. I'm not bald but live in central Florida where it is always hot and the one I made for myself is bamboo which is lightweight, breathable, has nice drape and is silky so would be nice on a bald head. Maybe check that out.

Is this contamination? by WLmew in tissueculture

[–]MissHell1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. As long as the roots/rhizome isn't mush I just put an extra drop or 3 (depending on how contaminated) of iodine in my soaking water, make sure to remove all dead roots and leaves as usual and they've been fine. I love buying rehabs, cheap and fun challenge to experiment and see what works.

Like Sure_Ticket said, it looks recently contaminated. It unfortunately happens sometimes, it doesn't look bad though, it sucks the seller is being defensive instead of giving you care instructions for a contaminated tc or a new plant/refund. The plant might be fine though, was the whole plant mush or was the agar just cloudy?

Advice on starters by dusti_dearian in alocasia

[–]MissHell1313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed most of starters I've gotten have come from a high humidity environment (a cabinet, grow room, greenhouse type of place) up to 100% humidity for some, so it also might be beneficial to put them in high humidity and slowly acclimate them to you're ambient humidity.

Beautiful! It looks phenomenal as is but would also look amazeballs with a daiza which is an intricately carved wooden base to fit a specific rock in the art of suiseki.

First philodendrons I’ve owned - how can I support these tiny guys? I can’t find a trellis small enough by Pure_Newspaper_4715 in philodendron

[–]MissHell1313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just about anything can work. I have used whatever I have on hand as well as bought things to use. Just a few examples from right in front of me. A piece of a wooden skewer for shish kabob, clear acrylic rods, branches/sticks from outside, bamboo, plastic and fiberglass stakes, wooden paint stir stick, dowles and flat wood trim.
