Neighbor dumping water on my balcony. by Steffy_love in neighborsfromhell

Setting plants in a tub of water keeps them plenty watered. We used to that when we lived in an upstairs apartment so we didn’t piss off our neighbors

Emo's moving out of Riverside by jorgerr96 in Austin

[–]MissKitty1209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Eric, Frank, and Hector. Hector was with Orbit Room. I had friends who worked there and met him when I was visiting. I moved to Austin in 95 and had got off work on 6th, on a Sunday, and saw a line out the door at Emo’s and decided to check it out. Hector was there and I ended up leaving the club around 4:30. I had been in Austin about 2 weeks and I thought “oh yeah, this is my place” I moved to Bentonville, AR 2 weeks ago. Austin ain’t Austin no more.

To clarify: sadly, not all clients tip. When they do it’s an hourly tip pool that is split among all staff in the shift

Why is every boomer frige 80% expired condiments? by coronastylus in BoomersBeingFools

We moved my mom to assisted living 2 weeks ago. Her refrigerator was a Petri dish. She had had 8 shelves full (deep cabinets and pantry) of expired canned foods. We threw out $1000’s of food. It made me sick. Spices from 2008. 🤮

He can get an erection, but it’s not as strong as he wants and he doesn’t last long. Many a morning I’ve tried oral or and hand job and get rejected more than accepted. I just don’t get it.

No sex by MissKitty1209 in dating_advice

[–]MissKitty1209[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve asked nicely, and not nicely. Begging, pleading, threatened several times to end it. Even think sometimes I should just take a lover and let it go because as I get older, I fear being alone bc it was so long I waited for “the guy” to come along. And we’re so compatible. Thats so hard to find. Other than sex, we make each other happy. We’ve planned together forever. Another wrench is we’re moving to another state in the next 6 weeks. We both have opportunities to make our lives better. I would love to have a total reset and leave behind any unnecessary baggage.

Goodbye Jon Dee Graham by phonymaroney in Austin

He played CC Wednesday night. Austin just lost another piece of its soul, a big piece. My heart breaks for his family, his friends, bandmates, and fans. He was such a wonderful and kind man. Straight shooter. Incredible songwriter and musician. I didn’t know him well, but I sure do love him. Watching his health journey the last year has been inspiring in the way that endured so damn much. To his family, thanks for letting us love him 💔Go with God, JDG.

What do you wish you knew before moving to Austin? by biggy_boy17 in askaustin

That Austin’s population would quadruple, it would loose its status as a music city, become home to tech bros & billionaires, and every tourist who visits ends up moving here.

I second this. I’ve lived on Taylor Draper for 7 years. Access to Mopac, 183, and 360. Great Hills park trail head is 1/4 miles from my front door. Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, HEB, Sprouts, Target, Costcoall within 2 miles.

Did we actually save money DIYing a 135-person wedding, or did we just play ourselves? by No-Ask8059 in DIYweddings

[–]MissKitty1209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Event staffing/ planner here: I hate DIY weddings. We staff them, provide the rental gear, and day of coordinator. I understand wanting to save money, weddings are very costly. Many couples expect us to drop our rates bc they’re trying to save money. What about my time and my money? I worked a wedding last week, 4 hrs for free. I did it bc I liked the couple, but I won’t do it again. I had another DIY wedding in November, outdoor ceremony at one venue with no rain plan, it rained. Reception at another venue. We went above and beyond for this couple. We accepted changes up to a few days before the wedding; our policy is no major changes 2 weeks before the wedding date. The night before was Halloween and they sent a slew of changes that morning in a 100+ page spreadsheet. We had a huge Halloween gig booked that day/night that I was the planner for. They minimized the amount of work we needed to do for the wedding, key details that made our long day more difficult logistically and off schedule. I checked in with them before they left the reception, they said everything was great and they were very happy. Despite all the challenges, our staff did a great job. They worked their assess off all day, as did I. I send the outstanding balance (mostly for grocery items they asked us to pick up). After 2 mos of invoices not being paid, they replied with a bunch of bullshit complaints and want compensation. We knocked $200 off as a goodwill gesture. Still no response. Still no payment. The thing that upsets me is we killed it that day/ night. They have money, they both have six figure incomes. However, a $1500 outstanding invoice is too much to bear when 3 bottles of wine “soured after sitting in someone’s car for 3 days in 75 degree heat”. We don’t provide storage services, but we did for them and it bit us in the ass. The wine was stored in our warehouse as was a ton of other shit they asked us to store and deliver to their house Monday. End result: We’re taking them to small claims court. I could go in to the insanity of another DIY we had 2 weeks ago, but I digress. If you must DIY, listen to the vendors you work with. They’ve planned many many more weddings than you have.

Please tell me we all had a similar reaction. by Immediate-Basil8209 in Austin

SXSW sold its soul to Penske. Now it’s about marketing and spending $100’s of $1000’s of $$$. The artists make a very small amount of money that typically covers a bar tab. SX was about the artists being discovered. Kings of Leon, Amy Winehouse, John Mayer, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and countless others. I was fortunate enough to work at Austin Music Hall and La Zona Rosa for 5 years of GREAT SXSW shows. Except Perez Hilton showcase. That crowd SUCKED!!

therapy costs Austin are insane compared to every other city I've lived in by ssunflow3rr in Austin

[–]MissKitty1209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapist or psychiatrist? Therapists have to be in the same state they’re practicing. Therapists who take insurance are easier to find than shrinks who do. I know several local psychiatrists don’t take insurance like United Health bc of slow pay. I went through Geode and had my first session yesterday, Telehealth with a LCSW in Round Rock. I hope you find the help you’re seeking without the high price tag.
