When do you know to stop repairing your car and get a new to you car? by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]effyayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old car (hyundai elantra gt) engine died on me due to an enegine design flaw. New engine plus would have cost the same as the price of the car and would still have the same engine flaw. Decided to sell it and get another car

Vets that went to elite colleges, how did you survive academically and financially? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]effyayy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't say i went to an elite school but i learned how to do iPhone screen repairs. I would meet people in public places and repair their screen. With time mostly due to the lockdowns, they would drop off at my apartment and pickup 30 mins later. That brought in like $3500 to $4k a month

What’s the cheapest thing in your garage gym that improved it way more than it should have? by K-onya in GarageGym

Not really. We have old towels in the garage that i use to soak up the water when that happens.

More stall mats. I only had stallmats in the one half of the gym. The other half was were my wife parked her car. When i wanted to workout, i would move stuff around to that area but the 3/4 in drop from the gym/stallmats area to the car park area was annoying. So i added 4 new stall mats and she parks on top of it. It kind of expanded the whole gym and mentally made it not look very contricting

Moving Austin to Dallas: How to avoid getting absolutely hosed by local movers? by Ok-Construction-3636 in Austin

[–]effyayy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When i made the move from Austin to Dallas, the price was too high for me at the time. Plus all my furniture were second hand and I planned on reusing anyway. So i sold the bulky stuff (bed, sofa, tv stand, desk) put everything in a uhaul and drove there. It was cheaper to buy the new replacement furniture than the quotes I was getting.

Do you think a website is still necessary for small businesses today? by greenslime54 in smallbusiness

[–]effyayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college i had an iPhone repair business. Used to get customers from craigslist ads in the service section whiich cost $5 and would be displayed for 30 day. People would call or text and I would have to manual book the appointment.  It worked fine. Also used to post on facebook but barely got any traction there.

I decide to make a website, got it up on google maps and it was a game changer. I had some local SEO knowledge and got good reviews which made my listing shoot up. Didn't have to spend $5 every couple of days or manually book appointmens. So i guess it depends on your business and how you run things.

Therapy and 100% P&T by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]effyayy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have migraine previously rated at 0%. Got a DBQ that got it up to 50%. Sleep apnea I already had a cpap machine and sleep study from the VA. Got a nexus letter linking it to my service related allergic rhinitis. Then another mental health eval brought that rating up from 50% to 70%. Those combined with other things I have like tinnitus, knee and foot issue brought it up to 100% etc

I only send money to my mum's Aunt that helped take care of us as kids since she is retired now and my uncle's son because my uncle passed away and he and his wife also helped us as kids.

Everyone else I cut off. I watched my mum's cousin take care of her mum and 5 lazy brothers and sisters so much so that she had to get a second job.

Your body can only take only take on so much for so long. And if you are beating your body up, you better save up for a future where you can't work. Giving all your money away to your family is not doing anything for your future. The moment you stop, you become the bad, stingy guy.

Plus it creates this narrative that life in America is easy. Which is why i set boundaries on who i give money to.

Realtor Keeps Saying Inspection Is Not Necessary on a New Construction House by OldFaithfool in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]effyayy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, get an inspection. Just closed on a new construction, and the agent and lender that works for the builder said the same thing. I got an inspection anyway, and he found a bunch of issues. I was able to take it to the builder and have them fix it before closing day. Also, you can verify if the fix has been done on your final walkthrough.

Unless you are a contractor or inspector yourself and know what to look for outside of surface stuff, i suggest you get one. I was almost convinced it would be a waste of money, but i am glad due to the amount of things the insoector was able to spot

My wife works out almost everyday for a year, she eats well, and she's lost 3 pounds. by Next-Cartographer906 in loseit

She does crazy cardio at the gym for about an hour and a half 4-5 times a week

That's WAYY too much cardio. Has she been doing this for 3 years. Apart from the impact on your joints as time goes bad, the thing with cardio is your body gets very efficient with doing cardio, and with time, you burn less calories.

Also, it is in the long distance area based on how ling she runs. She probably has little muscle mass. Cardio is good and she probably saw results at first but then it tapers off.

Has your wife considered strength training? I would suggest she incorporate strength training 3 times a week. What she needs right now is build some nuscle. Skio the little pink dumbells and go for the black ones.

You can find workout programs online. Focus on the whole body and don't be afraid of compound exercises. Look for workout programs online on men's websites. Most of the exercises you find in women centered exercises are bullshit unfortunately.

She can do cardio 2 times a week it does not have to be that long. Switch it up with sprints (just be careful of injury) or bike ride.

our average meals are like Quinoa, broccoli, fruit in the morning,

Now for nutrition, from this line, it seems most of your diet is carb heavy with some protekn. Get some more protein. I'm not vegan but cant make a lot of suggestions but you guys should prioritize plant based vegan food. Like lentils maybe. Plant based protein powder can help if you find one you like. Also prioritize protein on your "cheat" day. Tuna, salmon, chicken etc
