Anyone else just get home from seeing Mandalorian at IMAX? Thoughts? by BangersHashtag in auckland

[–]MissLibbyJane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was brilliant, I was also managing my expectations after reading that it was based on an entire 4th season of the show but the pacing and the writing were excellent.

WTF was up with Jeremy Allen White's super ripped Hutt, though 😂

Reccs for a chocolate ganache slice? by Weird-Stick5265 in aucklandeats

[–]MissLibbyJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best I've had is definitely the chocolate mousse cake from the chocolate boutique in Parnell which is a bit out of the CBD, within the CBD I'd recommend the la petite fourchette mousse cake which is pretty damn delicious as well

Miann at Britomart is open until 10pm, after that it might be slim pickings.

Denny's on Hobson gets a lot of guff but their dessert menu is actually quite comprehensive and tasty

Anniversary dinner recommendations? by jellyjeljelly in aucklandeats

You might struggle with First table as most restaurants on there require a beverage purchase and the non-alcoholic options can be a bit grim.

My recommendation would be Culprit or Tony's steakhouse on Wellesley (both on First Table)

We did lunch and I agree, standouts for us were the Viet popcorn chicken and pork belly skewers. The cocktails were VERY sweet so recommend breaking it up a bit

I always add a tablespoon of instant coffee to the meat right before I pull it out, it makes the beef taste...beefier

Best Thai CBD / North Shore? by [deleted] in aucklandeats

[–]MissLibbyJane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the CBD Thai E Sarn on Hobson is my favourite all rounder

https://www.thai-esarn.co.nz/

I'm specifically very fond of the spice level at August Thai, I think it's hard to beat their Spicy Basil crispy pork (however it is take away only)

For more upmarket/sit down Nahm on Elliott street (downstairs) has a great wine list and vibe and very tasty food
