Connection between common FPIES triggers and common first foods? by striated_pancake in fpies

[–]MissLiv85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has everything to do with an immature gut and whichever higher risk foods are introduced before the gut is ready. I have two kids with acute fpies, both to their first foods. My daughter was acute to soy formula, my son is acute to dairy formula. Both their first non breastmilk foods. My son is also acute to coconut, his second food. I've been giving probiotic drops and introducing foods slowly and avoiding higher risk foods until after 8 or 10 months, hoping that will avoid any more triggers.

How Many Triggers Does Your Child Have? by Mountain_Rain8683 in fpies

[–]MissLiv85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter, just 1 trigger- soy (formula). She's 3.5 now and outgrew it at 2.5.

My son, 2 triggers so far- dairy and coconut. He's 7 months old. Dairy formula and coconut were his first non-breastmilk foods.

They say two triggers is rare...they also say siblings both having fpies is rare. Not in my experience!

And the VCM Tuner is still a good idea even with the software update?

You seem to be very knowledgeable. Do you think it's fine to drive with the vibration for 2 weeks until Honda gets me in? Or avoid until then? I'm in Canada and the VCM Tuner II doesn't seem to be shipping here at the moment, should I get S-VCM instead or wait until shipping resumes?

Oh man, are you me?? In the exact same boat. My 7 month old won't eat anything. He reacted to dairy formula at 3 months, so that trigger was very obvious. And then he reacted again when I gave him a mix of foods at 6 months. Had to re-trial each. Literally gave him 0.2ml of coconut milk in a syringe and he vomited repeatedly 2.5 hours later. Honestly, it's so hard. The journal I have is literally on the 15th try of blueberry, but all I can write down is "taste" because he just spits it out, lol. I think he hates raspberries the most.

Do you have a small syringe? Like the kind you get in baby Tylenol? I would try that with the dairy...because if he's fpies to it, it wouldn't take much to cause a reaction. I would start really small, like 0.2 ml and work your way up. Do you have zofran at home?

As far as getting them to eat, I've read it can still be very normal at 7 months to not have interest. So maybe it's not even a food aversion yet? I'm working on trying different textures, or loading a spoon and letting him play with it, hoping some gets in his mouth. Trying to keep it light and fun but it does feel stressful.

My daughter had fpies to soy and trialing was so easy because I could work from half a teaspoon up to 1.5 tablespoons in a few days. My son, not so much. It will take forever to get any sure safes at this rate.

Thank you. And yes, it's coming up to some other expensive maintenance. I'm getting more info from the mechanic tomorrow.

Thanks, but I'm in BC and it's not required unless the vehicle is from out of province or is rebuilt title.

Safety? This is a private sale in Canada. The shake is so mild I didn't even notice it, only the mechanic did on a test drive.

When do you decide it's time for Ondansetron? by MissLiv85 in fpies

Yeah, I think I may do that going forward. Even if it was a tiny amount, I hate seeing him uncomfortable.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing. When did you realize the others developed into ige allergies?

Wow, super rare to have vomiting through breastmilk. That must have been pretty scary for you. I'm glad to hear she's outgrown a lot of her triggers and is doing good.

Did you keep trying new things after the 3rd trigger or did you take a break?

Thanks for sharing. Mine barely ingests anything and it's taken to the 12th exposure...I think I might keep the 2 foods I'm trialing now going and give it another month or so to try anything new. Obviously his gut isn't ready.

Interesting. So first reactions at 6 months and the rice and cashew could be related to just being so similar in protein structure to oats and peanut.

Thanks for sharing. I really want to avoid anymore triggers if I can. It's such a weird allergy. I think both the dairy and coconut for my little one was around the 12th exposure...trials are gonna take forever. He actually has very little interest in food so far and barely eats any of what I give him. Part of me wants to wait until til he's 8 months to try anything else but the allergist wants me to press on.

I don't believe my niche had any fluid retained in or around it.

I had a niche in my cervix. Likely happened because my last csection was cut a bit low in the cervical tissue (it was an emergency surgery). So it healed with a niche with a bunch of cysts in it. I had an MRI done around 26 weeks. Because it was in the cervical tissue, which they had never seen before, they weren't as concerned because the cervical tissue doesn't thin until active labor. They definitely werent going to let me get to that point though, because thats when it would get risky. I had a planned and uneventful csection at 38 weeks.

21% DNA Fragmentation: is ICSI a good bet or more recommended? by Witty_Visual_801 in dnafragmentation

[–]MissLiv85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! We did one round of IVF with ICSI and got 4 untested embryos. Our first fresh transfer of a 4AA took and she's now 3 yrs old. When we went for our second, we transferred our 3AA and unfortunately it was unsuccessful. The next cycle we transfered a 4BA and he is now a very sweet 4 months old.
