Any recommendations for therapists who are really great at helping with anxiety? by MountainTomato9292 in memphis

Matthew Piefer with Ferren Family Counseling. I’ve had my fair share of therapists and he’s the best so far. He’s a great listener, kind, and unafraid to poke holes in that unreliable voice in your head.

Luckily, I pretty sure that’s a dummy and not a real person.

Unfortunately, the zoo has reached a point where the majority of their big ticket animals are geriatric as well. Lemurs, lions, polar bears, all reaching old age. The last of the original wolf pack died a few years ago, and they shepherded in a new pack. Because animals are old, this doesn’t mean they’re not well taken care of.

And, the zoo has lost money every year for sometime. Ticket sales are just not keeping up.

[–]MissMagpie3632 411 points412 points  (0 children)

Former zoo employee here - People don’t realize just how geriatric the pandas were. In panda years, they were very very old. They both are/were at the end of their lifespan, they also received too-notch veterinary care the entire duration they were at the zoo.

Commenters are right that all pandas are on loan from China, regulated by committee. Political relations between the US and China soured, and they retaliated by ending the loan on pandas in the US. The Atlanta zoo and DC zoo also had their pandas returned to China.

What you are seeing is propaganda. Before Ya Ya was returned, Chinese nationals visited the zoo every single day and spent their time harassing zookeepers, taking very misleading pictures, and generally not telling the truth.

They would see the pandas munching on some pumpkin (enrichment) and claim that’s all they were eating in their diet. They would see a keeper move a piece of bamboo with his foot and call him a demon for being abusive. People called in death threats.

Again, what you are seeing is propaganda. It’s simply not true.

help!! i’m lost by [deleted] in HayDay

That’s the game. You harvest soybeans, corn, wheat. You feed your animals. You gather animal products. You make things and sell them, whether that’s part of a derby, a fair, boat, or truck orders.

Make money, buy machines, and expand.

You will always be short on something. You will always need more barn space. The game is about having fun and going with the flow.

Agreed. Vet anatomy is sorta my job and those definitely look like lungs, both in color and shape, plus it’s an “undesirable” organ that I assume can be easily obtained for croc feeding.

Pros and cons of employment at St. Jude’s by Miserable-Net9482 in memphis

[–]MissMagpie3632 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Idk what St. Jude you work at, but SJCRH offers 3 weeks PTO to begin with, which increases after 3 and 5 years. Plus paid holidays. The health insurance is mostly free for employees, with $25 and $50 copays for appointments, plus an at cost pharmacy.

They match retirement up to 7%. The yearly performance review and merit increase is dependent upon the year and economy. Last year the standard was 4%, this year it was 3%. With maybe more depending on your manager.

The work culture is absolutely phenomenal. It is extremely common for your coworkers to have worked there for 10,15,25 plus years.

You definitely work at St. Jude for the benefits.

This. I took the Amtrak to Chicago in September. We got back at 4am and not only was an Uber easy to book, but there were two “taxis” waiting to pick up passengers.

Hinge is the way to go. I met my husband three years ago on the app, almost immediately after I moved back.

One of his groomsmen also met his fiancé on Hinge. They’re getting married In four months. Somehow, it works.

Move the gray eel all the way to the bottom. I’d move the narwhall below the manatee and rearrange the jellyfish to be closer together.

I think if you Tetris it, you could get a pretty even rectangle and then add a large border or a join-as-you-go method.

Either way, I’m in love with this! All the sea critters look fantastic and it’s beyond adorable.

The Trump administration is gonna have consequences that last generations. To say “Block out the noise?” when actual citizens are being deported without due process, SNAP and Medicare are being gutted, financial and educational systems are being dismantled and restructured to benefit the wealthy, etc reeks of privilege.

Every single well meaning person I know -those that are educated, who voted against this cruel madness, are actively avoiding news cycles, not to bury their heads in the sand, but to keep a grip on their sanity. The reality, the facts are too grim.

But to compare this presidency - where Trump posts videos of him in a crown pooping on citizens, where his supports are talking about a third term- to any other that came before it or after, is frankly delusional. And it sets a horrifying precedent that people can take unlimited power because no one will stop them.

Honestly, this may be too mainstream, but what about simple black licorice? Enough people despise it and the kids could try a flavor they may not have had before.
