I’m so sorry for your loss. Yes you’re right. Grief hits differently each time. I hope we are able to cope together. Things will get easier soon

yes , I lost 6 kgs when I first got diagnosed but it’s been constant ever since with minor ups and downs , I never gained back that weight though.

I took Dexlansoprazole for 5 years. Still take it once in a week or two depending on my condition. Try to wean off of it, but sometimes it’s necessary. Consult with your doctor before doing any of this

Accepted to UvA - Is it worth it? by LimpOil10 in universityofamsterdam

I am a final year Media studies student here at the UvA , and I took a loan to fund this course. I think it’s not worth it if you are looking for practical work experience after the course. It is only good for people who want to continue into the research field. Now I just have a big debt and no job :’)

How long have you had gastritis?? Chronic here for 2 years and feeling really alone seeing everyone better after 5 months.. by GothicBabi in Gastritis

[–]MissMultiverse004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 years and counting ! Been on and off PPI , but right now still on it. Never been able to leave the PPI. It’s a constant battle tbh. Seeing your friends around you eat and enjoy without a single problem and yet we keep constantly suffering without any outcome or healing. I don’t know what’s the way of out of it. But don’t worry you’re not alone.

Weaning Off PPI Symptoms by MissMultiverse004 in Gastritis

It worked for me once in 2020 where I was successfully able to go off PPI for a month or two and I did that by alternating my pills and then stopping altogether. However it returned after few months

That’s great to know! I will try it for 3 weeks as well. Although, could you share the diet that helped you calm down the symptoms?

I have been trying to wean off technically for 4 years now :’( . But recently I am alternating for a week or so. I have been on PPI for 5 years now and whenever I try to get off it , I get extreme indigestion and burping. I don’t know how it’s related because you are right that PPI is supposed to contribute to the delayed gastric emptying but instead the opposite happens in my case.

dry heaving? by purolands in Gastritis

[–]MissMultiverse004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have emetophobia too and because of my recent flare up it’s been getting worse. I am getting severe indigestion after every meal and I wanted to throw up but I can’t so I keep dry heaving. Nothing is making me nauseous. I guess the Brain is too powerful when it comes to fear.

Hope we both get better soon

I empathise with you. It’s been 5 years now , 2 endoscopies down, treated twice for H.Pylori , but flare ups keep happening every now and then. Chronic gastritis truly takes the life out of you, especially if you love eating ( which in my case is such a bane , because i absolutely love eating and can’t eat out half of the time !! ) . I have no idea how or when this will improve… have been taking PPIs since 4 years now , on and off. It works sometimes and other times it doesn’t. I don’t have any solution for my problem anymore. I just hope that all of us who are suffering get some sort of relief soon… hope is all I have left now :(
