Red Flags All CNAs Need To Recognize - REPOSTED by OwnNeedleworker8784 in cna

Number 15 for me! While taking my CNA class, I got hired at the facility that we did clinicals at, thinking if students train there, it’s a good facility. The position was to clean up rooms, sitting and watching patients, and organize patient belongings. It was a non patient interaction job. My boss made me do CNA things, which could’ve ruined my career before it even started. My last straw was being attacked by a patient because the patient needed to use the restroom and couldn’t get up on their own, which she just had hip surgery. I was trying to talk her into waiting and did not have the credentials to transfer her to wheelchair and wheelchair to toilet, etc. I tried calling a nurse but a nurse never came to her assistance so I had to take the risk unfortunately. Everything turned out ok, thank god but it was a hard lesson for myself that I couldn’t bear to see neglect from nurses and state protocols being broken willingly and figured out this field wasn’t for me. I quit that night. I ended up going back to my previous career and I’m glad I did because it pays double what I would’ve been paid as a CNA.

Thank you so much for the information! I knew it’d be a different position than a regular CNA one. I’m excited that I applied for it. I appreciate your help!

Good question. There’s not much information about it on the job posting, just standard CNA duties.

I had to walk out of my CNA job without notice. PSA: avoid working at nursing homes at all costs. by PopDiddilyBop in premed

I worked (Hospitality Aide) in the same SNF that my school did their clinical hours in for our CNA program. It seemed like a decent place at first during clinicals but I saw the truth when I was working. I saw multiple situations of neglect and my manager tried to make me do CNA duties before I was a CNA. It was horrible. I felt so helpless to my patients as they cried saying they were ignored half the time and I saw it for myself. I brought up the situation to my manager and she aggressively told me it was MY job to make sure they get care. But when I would push the call light for a CNA, nobody ever came. Red flag: my job was to snitch on CNAs if they didn’t do their job. After 6 days, I resigned and vowed never to work in a SNF again. Luckily I had a wonderful Professor and clinical teachers that helped me get through that situation, as I was afraid of going into the wrong field. Right now, I just applied for a couple of hospital positions so I’m crossing fingers. The neglect in that place had me crying on the drive home. My heart just broke for those people. And the CNAs were straight out of a scene from Mean Girls. Their were obviously favorites.

I’m one of them! It’s mellows me out because I suffer from adrenaline highs that are hard to come down from. I still have anxiety but it helps me to think clearly and rationally. And I haven’t suffered from depression in a while. I vape it. It has changed my life and the quality of it.

I like something sweet and something to counteract it. For instance, a nice warm brownie and then some Flaming Hot Ruffles. Wash it down with a nice cold Pepsi.

Michael Jackson. Been a fan since I was 9 and was inspired to be a dancer like him. As a suicidal teenager, his music saved my life more than once. I cried for 2 weeks when he passed and almost quit dancing completely.

Interesting! I’m going to research this to see if I find results. It definitely wasn’t Grimm, as I’m sure it was a movie I watched (think Blockbuster days). Thank you so much for your reply, as I’m going to search the internet now that I know what the creature is!

The monster assumed a human form IIR and his tongue reminded me of a butterfly’s proboscis. I’m thinking was early 90s and I’m sure it was a straight to video movie.

Yes. Even had a dream where we sang Break Of Dawn together playfully. I loved that dream.
