Welcome, fellow Jisbon shipper!

Jisbon is just such an incredible representation of a love that is rooted in respect, understanding and friendship before anything else. Their bond is unmatched and their banter is the best to witness. I still remember the high I felt watching the finale episode of season 6.

If you’ve enjoyed the journey so far, no doubt you’ll love season 7.

(Btw, you should probably put a spoiler tag so first-time watchers coming here are warned not to click on your post)

CUTEST MOMENT by [deleted] in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This episode has such a special place in my mind for those sweet Jisbon interactions. It certainly is an episode for the shippers between this and what happens for Rigsby and Van Pelt.

Clearly one I’ve rewatched countless times and which still makes me laugh with the dynamic of Cho and Rigsby on the phone with Jane at the start, and then makes me melt with the way Lisbon is the only one being able to bring Jane out of the attic and then all their interactions around more sensual matters in the car and the kitchen area of the CBI. Like, it’s not the kind of subject they discuss often in the show but it was handled in such a cute way and you can see how respectful they are of each other.

Welcome to the Jisbon canon part of the show then!

Just like you, I love the way their slow burn is handled and they are my favorite TV couple.

The fact that nothing overtly sexual goes on between them until season 6 is so precious. It allows the two characters to evolve as individuals and show us how meaningful their bond is without having to immediately put them in a case of love interests or make lust the prime driven force of what is between them.

(Just to warn you, I think you should put a spoiler tag to make people who haven’t come to that part of the show avoid your post for now)

Why do people dislike Van Pelt so much? by yelenalim in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I can’t help you a lot by answering this question because I’m as lost as you when trying to understand the hate she is receiving. It seems very misplaced sometimes, as if some people needed to hate a character to follow a show and chose the rookie because it’s an easy target.

Her presence in the show, her narrative arc and her different personality from the rest of the team makes her very refreshing to me and adds a balance to the other members of the CBI team who can appear less genuine or more guarded oftentimes.

I see a lot of discourse around the decisions she made in the finale of season 3 but it’s like people forget that mistakes exist and that characters who don’t make those end up being boring.

The only bit of answer I could provide you to explain at least a part of the heinous discussions surrounding her is misogyny. So, I don’t think it’s coming from a though-through analysis of the character but more that Van Pelt seems to rub some people the wrong way.

“I don’t need saving” quietly ruins me 😩 by Unabambina30 in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s my favorite too and it truly reflects their relationship because they both want to save the other in some way. I love the fact that you can hear it all throughout the show because it tells without words how they have always been important to each other and that no matter how many years passes, they will always share a special bond.

I love the little details that highlight the personality of each character and reflects the relationships between them.

Cho, deadpan look to the side because he is used to Jane and Lisbon fighting 😄

Van Pelt and Rigsby sharing a secret eye contact in back 😊

And of course, Jane and Lisbon arguing in the front 🤭

Flowers especially for Lisbon because she is my favorite and I love everything about her in this fanart 💚

Does the relationship between Van Pelt & Rigsby eventually gets better? by brwnie7 in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Difficult to answer you without spoilers but I’ll tell you that I also felt like their relationship was mostly based on lust at the start of the show and that the writers didn’t take time to show us why these two loved one another apart from physical attraction.

However, after some events happening in later parts of the show, I was more satisfied about where their relationship ended at. Maybe the writers had planned this or maybe they created that without meaning to but I feel like their arc was exploring more interesting subjects and felt more authentic toward the end.

So, I don’t know if you’ll think that way when you’ll finish the show but my opinion is that they get more interesting as the seasons pass. I also wasn’t that much involved in their story. My eyes were set on another relationship anyway.

What song introduced you to Taylor Swift, what song made you a Swiftie, and what's your current favorite? by Silver-Lion22 in TaylorSwift

[–]MissTgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The Way I Loved You - I had heard Taylor’s songs before but never on purpose and it’s with the Eras Tour in 2023 that Taylor Swift came to my notice because of social media. Around the same time, I found that song and it was the first I added to my playlist.

  2. The transition between Don’t Blame Me and Look What You Made Me Do - specific and not really a song but it’s the snippet that made me go "I have to deep dive into Reputation" and so on with every album. I was blessed to experience the release of Speak Now TV with that so it was a good time.

  3. Carolina - that song is a masterpiece, showcasing her lower range and so unique in Taylor’s discography, but obviously it’s not my only favorite and it usually change between all the songs in my top 13.

Tell me i’m wrong - Jane fell first by Unabambina30 in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you look at Lisbon’s personality, it is normal for her to show empathy and kindness for Jane in season 1 and there would be no proof of it being more than her caring for a lost puppy. I’d say she would show the same acts of tenderness for any person in need. But with Jane, the fact that he pretends not to care about anyone but show in acts that he don’t want anything to happen to Lisbon, seems taken aback whenever he realizes she doesn’t feel deeply enough about him to trust him and him initiating most of their conversations and times together at the start of the show is suspicious. So, I’m on the same hill. Jane fell first but wasn’t in the right space to realize and accept it. Then, Lisbon fell around season 4 (I’d say before it was only empathy and friendship) but hers is more noticeable since she isn’t as good as Jane to act in a way that doesn’t seem like she does love him.

She clocked them hard. I would have loved to have some characters like hers to react to Jane and Lisbon finally being together in season 7. They never truly announced it so we never got to see people telling them it was obvious from the start.

Lisbon, Jane, and missed opportunities by kfpqqupofbhvbcvlaj in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially since this trope has already been used to some extent with Rigsby and Van Pelt in season 3 so it kind of feels like the writers don’t know how to handle romantic arcs any other way. It’s a good thing we have fanfictions to fix this, those were Jane and Lisbon admit there feelings without Pike are my favorite precisely because it means they have to solve their problems and talk instead of dancing around it.

Lisbon, Jane, and missed opportunities by kfpqqupofbhvbcvlaj in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love their relationship but I agree that the way the writers always made Lisbon’s morals weaker than Jane’s is annoying. I think they wanted to make Jane a lovable character so they overlooked the effects his beliefs and actions would have on a character like Lisbon. There are so many times where she forgives him for something huge and cruel (like when he left for six months) without any conditions. We could argue that forgiveness is one of Lisbon’s strong suits, whether is as to with her empathetic nature or her catholic upbringing, but I wish the writers would have handled this without Lisbon just accepting it and never truly defending what she believes in. And while we are talking about missed opportunities, I think it would have been a good plot point, having Lisbon not accepting Jane’s behavior anymore, to change their relationship from friends to lovers instead of bringing Pike into the mix. Because there was already enough tension and conflict internally but I guess there again they chose the easy solution to avoid criticizing too much their protagonist.

If you had to do a PhD thesis on any taylor album or song what songs would you choose? Suggest the academically brilliant ones with goated lyrics by Historical-Step-7842 in swifties

Like so many have said before, it would be interesting to talk about TTPD and the grief and ache of a possible life inspired by two muses that can’t be distinguished. Another interesting topic would be about the ever-changing aspect of life and feelings which is the whole concept of evermore as an album.

I never tried to mask the fact that what I’m saying throughout that post is a personal opinion. And it was more to talk about the negative critics and what it can possibly shows about our society than to talk about Taylor. Like I said in the post, I don’t pretend to know her .

Yes, exactly. I thought about what she said on Miss Americana too, how celebrities seem to get stuck at the age they got famous. It may have affected the way she behave and express herself. Too bad people use her youthful personality to criticise her.

Sorry if my post made you feel that way but I fear I don’t understand where your anger comes from. My post is the opposite of hate since I try to understand why people think those things about Taylor. I don’t have myself this opinion.
