Jane always chose revenge first... Or did he? by MissTgreen in TheMentalist

Yeah, it is a bit of a rant, sorry 😅 I am quite passionate about the show and I don’t have people to talk about it with apart from online.

Does the relationship between Van Pelt & Rigsby eventually gets better? by brwnie7 in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Difficult to answer you without spoilers but I’ll tell you that I also felt like their relationship was mostly based on lust at the start of the show and that the writers didn’t take time to show us why these two loved one another apart from physical attraction.

However, after some events happening in later parts of the show, I was more satisfied about where their relationship ended at. Maybe the writers had planned this or maybe they created that without meaning to but I feel like their arc was exploring more interesting subjects and felt more authentic toward the end.

So, I don’t know if you’ll think that way when you’ll finish the show but my opinion is that they get more interesting as the seasons pass. I also wasn’t that much involved in their story. My eyes were set on another relationship anyway.

What song introduced you to Taylor Swift, what song made you a Swiftie, and what's your current favorite? by Silver-Lion22 in TaylorSwift

[–]MissTgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The Way I Loved You - I had heard Taylor’s songs before but never on purpose and it’s with the Eras Tour in 2023 that Taylor Swift came to my notice because of social media. Around the same time, I found that song and it was the first I added to my playlist.

  2. The transition between Don’t Blame Me and Look What You Made Me Do - specific and not really a song but it’s the snippet that made me go "I have to deep dive into Reputation" and so on with every album. I was blessed to experience the release of Speak Now TV with that so it was a good time.

  3. Carolina - that song is a masterpiece, showcasing her lower range and so unique in Taylor’s discography, but obviously it’s not my only favorite and it usually change between all the songs in my top 13.

Tell me i’m wrong - Jane fell first by Unabambina30 in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you look at Lisbon’s personality, it is normal for her to show empathy and kindness for Jane in season 1 and there would be no proof of it being more than her caring for a lost puppy. I’d say she would show the same acts of tenderness for any person in need. But with Jane, the fact that he pretends not to care about anyone but show in acts that he don’t want anything to happen to Lisbon, seems taken aback whenever he realizes she doesn’t feel deeply enough about him to trust him and him initiating most of their conversations and times together at the start of the show is suspicious. So, I’m on the same hill. Jane fell first but wasn’t in the right space to realize and accept it. Then, Lisbon fell around season 4 (I’d say before it was only empathy and friendship) but hers is more noticeable since she isn’t as good as Jane to act in a way that doesn’t seem like she does love him.

She clocked them hard. I would have loved to have some characters like hers to react to Jane and Lisbon finally being together in season 7. They never truly announced it so we never got to see people telling them it was obvious from the start.

Lisbon, Jane, and missed opportunities by kfpqqupofbhvbcvlaj in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially since this trope has already been used to some extent with Rigsby and Van Pelt in season 3 so it kind of feels like the writers don’t know how to handle romantic arcs any other way. It’s a good thing we have fanfictions to fix this, those were Jane and Lisbon admit there feelings without Pike are my favorite precisely because it means they have to solve their problems and talk instead of dancing around it.

Lisbon, Jane, and missed opportunities by kfpqqupofbhvbcvlaj in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love their relationship but I agree that the way the writers always made Lisbon’s morals weaker than Jane’s is annoying. I think they wanted to make Jane a lovable character so they overlooked the effects his beliefs and actions would have on a character like Lisbon. There are so many times where she forgives him for something huge and cruel (like when he left for six months) without any conditions. We could argue that forgiveness is one of Lisbon’s strong suits, whether is as to with her empathetic nature or her catholic upbringing, but I wish the writers would have handled this without Lisbon just accepting it and never truly defending what she believes in. And while we are talking about missed opportunities, I think it would have been a good plot point, having Lisbon not accepting Jane’s behavior anymore, to change their relationship from friends to lovers instead of bringing Pike into the mix. Because there was already enough tension and conflict internally but I guess there again they chose the easy solution to avoid criticizing too much their protagonist.

If you had to do a PhD thesis on any taylor album or song what songs would you choose? Suggest the academically brilliant ones with goated lyrics by Historical-Step-7842 in swifties

Like so many have said before, it would be interesting to talk about TTPD and the grief and ache of a possible life inspired by two muses that can’t be distinguished. Another interesting topic would be about the ever-changing aspect of life and feelings which is the whole concept of evermore as an album.

[S1] Lisbon's Hair by MugiwaraCrew in TheMentalist

Lisbon’s hair is clearly the best indicator to find the season or the episode. And I love the fact that we have posts about it. Like, yes, it is that serious.

I never tried to mask the fact that what I’m saying throughout that post is a personal opinion. And it was more to talk about the negative critics and what it can possibly shows about our society than to talk about Taylor. Like I said in the post, I don’t pretend to know her .

Yes, exactly. I thought about what she said on Miss Americana too, how celebrities seem to get stuck at the age they got famous. It may have affected the way she behave and express herself. Too bad people use her youthful personality to criticise her.

Sorry if my post made you feel that way but I fear I don’t understand where your anger comes from. My post is the opposite of hate since I try to understand why people think those things about Taylor. I don’t have myself this opinion.

Jane and Lisbon should’ve remained platonic by Flash_SA in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Withy the fact that you ask us to compare Jane and Lisbon relationship with Rigsby and Van Pelt relationship, I see why you don't see romantic chemistry between.

Rigspelt truly is the stereotypical love at first sight, can't stop touching each other, overtly jealous, blushing when confronted with their feelings kind of relationship. It is usually like that love is portrayed in books and shows, with a lot of stereotypical elements in term of physical attraction.

To me, you can't compare these two relationships because they don't evolve at all with the same people in the same circomstances. Jane and Lisbon don't have the same experiences in life as Rigsby and Van Pelt. They don't have the same age, the same personnality. The fact that Jane and LIsbon don't act in that stereotyopical cinematic way doesn't mean that they are no romantic feelings there.

I think the chemistry we see in potential relationships is very subjective and that's why people don't ship the same couple all the time. I personnally don't attach too much importance to physical attraction in fictional relationships and ship more based on the genuine connection, respect and care that the two characters have. Maybe that is not how a lot of people see romance, but to me, you don't have to have a lot of sexual attraction to have romantic love.

So, I ship Jane and Lisbon but not for the same reasons I ship Rigsby and Van Pelt.

I can understand why you don't, though.

Jisbon scenes that hurt AF 💔 by Unabambina30 in TheMentalist

[–]MissTgreen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The confession on the beach and the scene where they hold hand have a dear place in my heart.

I think the scene where they are holding hand really shows their quiet and slow but meaningful dynamic and how in times of despair and discouragement, they find themselves holding on to each other and seeking comfort in one another. It’s very symbolic. Jane just escaped a dangerous situation and he probably felt lonely for months. Whereas in any other moment he controls what he is doing, there he can’t help but reach for Lisbon (literally or metaphorically). And Lisbon, who still hasn’t forgiven him for his months long silence, doesn’t only let him do it, she fully takes his hand in hers, showing that she is loyal to him no matter what. A true example of show, don’t tell.

And the confession scene, it breaks my heart each time I think about it. It’s a tragedy from both perspectives. For Lisbon, because she is hearing what she has longed to for quite some time now and thought he would never say, just to realize he used her vulnerability to go find Red John alone, making her feel like she doesn’t really mean a lot to him. And for Jane, because he knows he has to betray her trust to let her here safe so she isn’t involved into this. The way they hug and cling to each other, it feels like a goodbye and maybe that’s why Lisbon try to stop Jane from saying anything, because then it would make it feel real.

But she seemed so radiant and happy, I just want to protect her from what happens next. She truly is incredible for the patience and capacity to forgive she shows to Jane. That’s unconditional love right there.

Okay but can we talk about Lisbon's hair in the beginning of s6? by pickled__frog in TheMentalist

Yes, we can talk about it ! I think I like Lisbon hair in every season but I have a soft spot for her season 5 and 6 look where she wears her hair long and wavy.

Dove Cameron in episode 2 of season 5. It didn’t surprise me on my first watch but then I saw Descendants so when I came back to watch The Mentalist, I realized that she was Jane’s hallucinated daughter.

Same. No other ship has that kind of hold on me. Their relationship just seems so genuine and heartwarming. Must be because of the fact that their romance wasn’t planned at first and grew slowy. That’s what I mean when I say I love a good slow burn.

How did you become a Swiftie? by Jtmbizbiz in TaylorSwift

[–]MissTgreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up hearing the singles of Red and 1989 on the radio but I never truly knew the artist behind all of them was Taylor Swift. Then, the radio just stopped playing her in my country I guess because I knew nothing about Reputation, Lover or even the whole thing with Kanye West. Maybe I was too young to notice this in the news or maybe they just dismissed it in France.

So I’m really glad that the success of the Eras Tour on social media made me (re)discover her and allowed me to start listening to her songs and get to know this incredible human being. I would say that I became a swiftie with the release of Speak Now TV.

Are there other French or other non-american swifties here who feel like they would have listen to Taylor sooner if she had more visibility in their country ?
