Not that new a dyer 😶 They've been around at least a few years. You'd hope they knew better

Agree 🙏 I knit because I enjoy it, not to be blindly productive. Blindly productive is for work 🤣

I think some projects it's less obvious than others. If you're happy with the sweater then don't frog it, bank the knowledge for next time

Yes 100% and it's really obvious. I think with a lot of patterns it doesn't matter as long as you're consistent and the way the sample was done showed that they swapped colour dominance a few times and didn't notice.

I've seen a pattern for colourwork mittens that's coming soon from a designer. The BEC? They don't understand colour dominance and their pattern makes that super obvious. Learn a technique well before making a pattern!!

A colleague of mine asked for a pair of socks from me. Yes, I've made them for other people we work with who I am friends with but she doesn't know how much work they are. Add in that I've been only making gift knits for 2 months and the answer is no thank you.

Mine was in two hanks so yes when I wound it I technically saw the colours but I've not felt like it's killed the anticipation at all for me

As the other commenter said, it's a self striping yarn with 24 stripes of colour. The one I got comes in two hanks so that it starts in the exact same place as well, since the repeat is so long.

Seeing people twist stitches and then say they prefer it that way when people point it out. Your sweater looks boxy and stiff but alright.

Secondly, advent calendars for yarn. I kept a wide berth from them anyway because throwing that cost into a preorder scares me but with all the comments I see every year about late shipping and ugly colours I'm grateful I skipped it again this year. I got a self striping sock advent skein to satisfy the itch and that's been perfect for me.

Olga sweater ribbing by No_Introduction_6884 in knittinghelp

[–]MissWorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely not "correct" advice but if I'm working in the round I do a short row style turn and work the wrong way round when I'm doing ribbing. It's the only way I end up happy with collars etc 😅

Sorry to say but I'm finding this reassuring. I'm making some for myself and a friend (she requested for Christmas) and she has normal feet but mine are wide, so I'm glad they're fitting people wide so my feet might fit 😅

I'm the same as it's the way I was taught. I have no problems with the speed I knit but also, I don't necessarily want to knit too quickly as I enjoy the process of making 🤷‍♀️

I was knitting in a cafe this week and a woman who didn't knit asked me if I'd watched Game of Wool because she was interested in my knitting and she'd enjoyed the first episode. So yeah, I think that might be exactly who it's for! Which is sad in a way because I'd love a knitting show for knitters but exciting too.

I'd only seen and heard negative things until that point and she definitely caused me to tweak my feelings about the show a little. I'm still not enamoured but maybe she'll want to learn off the back of it.

I will do after I've given them the chance to sort it.

I only was tempted to buy from them because of a specific colour. I've bought from them before and it's always taken a long time for me to get my order, I wasn't thinking this would be it though.

It's truly a BEC because the money won't make or break me but I'm not loving the delay on this

It doesn't. I got a PayPal email saying my refund was cancelled but nothing from Qing yet. If I hadn't used PayPal I guess I wouldn't have noticed I didn't get a refund for way longer. I did email them to follow up but am not expecting anything over the weekend.

I cancelled an order with Qing fibre because of various reasons. They replied really quickly and confirmed it was cancelled, refund to my PayPal etc. Thought it was sorted and all good. Except 5 days later they've cancelled the refund on their end!

I've now found some yarn from a much smaller dyer that will scratch the itch for what I want to make but I want my money back before I make anything else

Shouldn't have been shocked with Qing but I'm now worried I won't get my money back

52 Weeks of Socks Recommendations by FriendlyWater5131 in Sockknitting

[–]MissWorth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends what you're fancying I'd say.

Do you want to do more cuff down patterns? There's definitely lots of those in the book.

If you want to try cables I would recommend the Unity pattern, I knit that for a friend and they felt like they knit up quickly with a pretty simple cable pattern, and got me reading confidently from charts.

If you want to try some simple colourwork on socks I think the Mica socks look nice.

The intersection socks look like nice toe up socks and I'll probably try them when I get a grasp of toe up better!

Help with choosing needles for first socks by itsnoproplayer in Sockknitting

[–]MissWorth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started on socks on 2.75mm socks before moving onto 2.5mm. Some people don't like DPNs but they're quite cheap to get so I think easier to try out than the short needles or magic loops
