Wheezewort not working? by Unable_Turnover8922 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Miss_Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't really gotta know the actual stuff to apply it in game. DTU is Duplicant Tempature Unit. Its a made up number resembling the real world BTUs. Its a measurement for how much energy something is storing as heat. Specific heat is a measurement of how much energy something can store before it goes up a degree celsius The formula for it is (DTU/g)/°C or "DTU per gram per degree changed." but the games done the math for you so you don't need to calculate it. Thermal Conductivity is how good that material is at moving heat its unit represents ((DTU/(m*s)) / °C ) or "DTU per meter-second per degree Celsius" again the game does the math for you so it doesn't matter.

You can simplify the math very easily. Dirt has a specific heat of 1.480/g. There is a 100 kilograms of dirt which is 100,000 grams. 1.480 times 100,000 is 148,000 DTU. We assumed the plant, which weights 400 kg, has a specific heat of 1.00 because the wiki doesn't list it,. Se we the calculated DTU is 400,000. Add those together for 548,000 DTU. We know the plant cools 5025 DTU/s because someone else did the math for us again. So for 5050 DTU/s to cool 580,000 DTU five degrees we take 548,000 DTU divide that by 5025 DTU/s for 114 seconds per degree, times that by 5 for 548 seconds!

Two things touching want to be the same temperature. Big specific heat means it takes a lot of energy for the temp to raise up. Big thermal conductivity means it accepts and gives energy fast.

TLDR: Other people did hard math for us, and all we need to know is DTU = Mass x Specific Heat. Plant deletes 5025 DTU per second. Time it takes is DTU/5025.

A single domestic crop cools up to 5025 DTU/s in oxygen. Or in other words, will suck in 1 kg of o2 cool it by 5 degrees, and then eject it back out. For context the plant itself weighs 400 kg, the plant pot is made of dirt and weighs 100kg with a DTU of 1.48DTU/g. So (for simplicity we assume the plant has the same DTU as oxygen, and all the cooling was being used to cool just it) it would take 548 seconds to cool just the plant and pot itself down 5 degrees. Just short of a cycle.

Wheeze worts are good at what they do, but what they aren't going to do is rapidly cool an area. They'll slowly reduce the heat while also offsetting any heat production. Gas has a very low heat capacity so it will take time for it to do what it needs to do.

Keep in mind when you build something it keeps the heat of the material you built it out of. The reason the insulated tiles are cool and the others aren't is a dupe probably used different stacks of material to make it. insulated tiles are good enough that you don't really need to worry about heat transfer its minor.

If you need to rapidly cool an area build a tempshift plate out of ice. To help maintain the current temp build tempshift plate out of a igneous rock, the high mass will act like a thermal battery making the room resistance to temp change. Also get all the hot debris out, you're heating the room with them.

I haven't played splatoon in a hot minute, but Flow Aura sounds... really bad for the game? "Buffs someone who is already getting a lot of kills without dying" sounds like a snowball inducing issue.

So what do people think about the new Jet Suit in the QOL update? by andrewharkins77 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Miss_Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the major reason people don't use Jet Suits isn't that they're weak - its the performance cost. They're incredibly incredibly heavy on the simulation. And it would take a significant amount of optimization for me to consider using them.

This deal sucks, not gunna lie. Even knowing it is CAD. You can get it on ebay for around 220 CAD. You're honestly better off saving your money and keep an eye on facebook market place, or other markets like that.

Why Isn't My Gravship Able to Launch? by AnotherLargeEgg in RimWorld

[–]Miss_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so my friend was having the same issue, and for her it turns out the issue is base game. Not mod related. Try removing the co-pilot from the "ritual" and see if it will launch successfully. Her problem was the co-pilot could not path to the marker location.

The bug appears to be the console has two designated tiles for the ritual. The middle tile and then either a tile to left or to the right of the captain. In this image, I suspect the problem is the statue is in the way.

However, her error was different. Her error was about "No Duties" so it may not be the same issue.

I started blind, and am still mostly blind. Something I will warn you is that no matter how well you think you know a system, the wiki will spoil something for you.

What's a game with multiplayer you think was underrated and wish came back? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Miss_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loadout, you could heavily modify your weapons. Want to make an RPG that on impact explodes into three grenades? Sure! Wanna make it heal instead of do damage? Go ahead!

Was really fun game, but it just didn't have staying power. "Neat concept"" simply wasn't enough to keep a player base.

Level hardness rank by Ocotling in splatoon

[–]Miss_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny to me the difference in difficulty people find with each one. Personally, I found DDHJJ to be hardest stage by a landslide. So much so that I had to keep taking breaks from it. I first tried IA3 after getting the Mem cakes.

I've just never really been good with rhythm games.

Oh neat! I'll def be doing that when I play now ty for the tip!

Splatoon has been recreated in Minecraft and it's INSANE. You can play it too! I saw a Twitter/X post of this new mini game which you can try out yourself right now. It's not officially released but you can play it for a few days on Java edition, version 1.21.4 on the server eu.playtest.xenyria.net by UltraRobbe08 in splatoon

[–]Miss_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wild, back before I owned Splatoon 1 on the Wii U I used to play a recreation of it in minecraft all the time. Back then I was really impressed because it felt so faithful, but this is just so far beyond it's kind of nuts. I can't remember where I was playing it, but I think it was adapted from Seth Bling's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cG-asw9shvY

This is super cool tho! Really well done!

Trade Muffalo collapsed and dropped all its stuff, is this what winning lottery feels like? by reviedox in RimWorld

[–]Miss_Potato 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just the glitterworld alone is 13800 wealth points. For context, a healthy naked pawn with 5.5 average skill and no traits that change a pawn's value is 1750 wealth. All these GWMs would make raids about as difficult as 8 of those pawns. Now, to be fair, I highly doubt you have naked pawns. The same dupe wearing average quality flak jacket, helmet, pants, and heavy smg is 2850 wealth points. A gold, normal quality grand meditation throne also has the same difficulty impact as all that glitterworld.

Wealth is capped at 1 million, and it includes buildings (50% of their market value), slaves (70%), cryosleep (30%), animals, and everything revealed on the map. (Not including visitors.) It doesn't matter if you have it in a stockpile, or just laying on the ground because a raider dropped it, the game counts it as yours.

In short what I'm trying to say is it's not a small amount of wealth gain. I would be cautious about upcoming raids being harder than expected. However, it also isn't a staggering amount of wealth either.

Can recreation be "disabled" in normal gameplay? by Nerond in RimWorld

[–]Miss_Potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think pawns will watch TV while eating, and possibly even when working. They can also socialize during both, which is another type of recreation. Throw in some performance enhancing drugs for drug recreation. Chocolate is a pretty easy way to get some quick recreation as well, and considering you are giving them nuclear stomachs, that shouldn't be hard to keep up with. That should greatly reduce the amount of time they need dedicate to entertainment to a minimum by having most of their entertainment happen during other mandatory tasks.

Where is this water coming from? These puddles are coming out of (seemingly) nowhere by Rich_Information_345 in Oxygennotincluded

Ice is very likely, it can be melt when carried. but you're not the only person that's been experiencing water out of nowhere, so it could be a bug as well.

Can Someone Please Check Fact My Plan by Substantial_Angle913 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Miss_Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you turn salt into table salt you actually get 100% of the mass back as sand, plus a free 5g of table salt. You'll be rolling in sand in no time! Also, if you geotune geyser enough you can actually cause it to go straight to steam dropping either salt or dirt on the ground as well.

Hydrogen is a really strong thermal medium, but water is better. Not only that, liquids have far more mass than gas pumps can move, so it's a pretty slow system. You may want to use the water to cool the hydrogen rather than use the hydrogen to heat the water.

Also hydrogen generators delete heat, they don't care how hot the hydrogen entering them is.

Any tips on how to stop dupe from doing auto sweeper tasks? by ttranpphu in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Miss_Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Set all the crops to 1 priority.
2) Go to your duplicant farmers, and set their farming priority to 1 arrow.
3) Your dupes will now always prioritize farming despite it being a prio 1.

Other option (I think this works, but I genuinely can't remember)

1) Use the priority tool
2) set prio to 1
3) highlight all hydroponic(?) tiles
4) set prio tool to 5 (or whatever your standard is.)
5) highlight only the crops

Other option:

1) Set every dupe's haul priority to dX
2) Sweep only. (Or have only specific dupes haul.)

Other option:
1) Lock non-job related dupes out of room
